That might be just a little glib with respect to some of the issues raised. Also some interesting sidecar topics, like the Government hiring for neighborhood drone surveillance operators, and several other things.
On the one hand we have idiots like Gov. Abbott of Texas screwing up on the weather-related problems, then declaring that everything should be opened up, without regard to how many people might be infected, isn't helping.

Here in the states, President Biden is pushing for mask wearing and social distancing on Federally-controlled facilities, without drones or other penalties, and asking for others to simply do the right thing at a time when newly-discovered virus strains could allow things to get out of control before most adults are vaccinated. It's like two or three months, that's all. By summer, perhaps late summer, most restrictions will be history if people keep their heads.

A moderate approach without the extremes serves best.

As to vaccinations: That's the height of superstition that they are somehow harmful and should not be taken. In areas of this country where that crap has persisted, children's have gotten sick from measles and other ailments because they didn't take the vaccines my son took with no ill effect when he was a kid. I'd rather we not post messages that promote that nonsense.

There are reasons not to take the COVID-19 vaccine, and the potential issues are noted on the instructions we got when Barbara and I received our first doses yesterday. It's the reason why they expect you to wait 15-minutes before they had out the vaccination cards at Walgreens here, and I assume other places.

It's now almost 24 hours since we got our first dose. Other than having to sand down the fangs and the rough hairs, we're fine. :)

That all sounds fine.

That's not entirely accurate. Here's just one example:

Vaccine-derived polio spreads in Africa after defeat of wild virus

Mutant Strains Of Polio Vaccine Now Cause More Paralysis Than Wild Polio

As pointed out by the Great Barrington Declaration advocates, lockdowns have resulted in far fewer of the normal beneficial vaccinations being done, and along with other experts are worried about a corresponding rise in those diseases.

WHO and UNICEF warn of a decline in vaccinations during COVID-19

That's good news. I wouldn't expect any side effects to become noticeable sooner than 48 hours, but the longer-term side effects ( if any ) may not start appearing for 4-6 months, and would be accelerated by the second dose. So I'm going to wait to see how everyone else fares for at least a year before even considering it ( personally ).

One significant example that I find very offensive, is a TV chocolate ad, that depicts two adorable young Black American girls, sitting side-by-side merrially eating chocolates. No masks. There are touching each other.

What is so important in that adv, that the producers are willing to irresponsibly expose those little girls to a deadly virus?

kronoz -

As I read your post, I take it you are rather fearful of the COVID-19 virus.

I'm a lay person who has watched and listened to a wide variety of sources over the past year, and the message I've gleaned is that it is highly likely the threat has been exaggerated.

FIRST ENCOURAGING NEWS:

There are some remedies which were in use at the beginning of the COVID issue which at least one MD doctor, and sometimes many, rate at nearly 100% effective. These doctors have been working level docs who have actually treated patients - the opposite of those seen most often on TV.

I have kept a list of the remedies these doctors have recommended over the past year, and here it is below. Remember I am NOT a doctor, but I can report what I've heard on TV and radio, with the caveat that anyone thinking about using the information must do their own research:

COVID-19 REMEDIES WHICH HAVE BEEN REPORTED AS WORKING:

hydroxychloroquine ... opens cell walls so zinc can enter
+ azythromycin ... inhibits bacteria which transport the virus
+ zinc ... zinc, key ingredient, enters cells and inhibits virus replication
Note: Studies claiming HCQ doesn't work omitted the ZINC.

ivermectin
+ doxycycline
+ zinc ... zinc, key ingredient, enters cells and inhibits virus replication

budesonide ... common asthma drug "Pulmicort"
+ antibiotic ... inhibits bacteria which transport the virus

quercetin ... common supplement, which one doctor said can substitute for hydroxychloroquine, meaning zinc should be taken with it

injectable vitamin C ... injection increases efficacy

stem cell therapy ... stops COVID and repairs lung damage as well

Some GENERAL anti-viral HERBAL medications which have an excellent track
record against cold and flu viruses, and are available without a prescription:

Progressive Vitamin C Complex, 600 mg ............. NPN 80033875
Natural Factors Vitamin D3, 1000 IU ................... NPN 80004328
Natural Factors Zinc Citrate, 50 mg ...................... NPN 80005123
Allimax Stabilized Allicin (garlic, 180 mg) .......... NPN 80022062
Natural Factors Olive Leaf, 500 mg ...................... NPN 80031890
NAHS Oregamax (oregano), 297 mg .................... NPN 80042883
(North American Herb & Spice)

-- Melatonin has been recommended to "safely quiet the immune system"
which may reduce the risk or impact of a potentially lethal cytokine storm

-- "NPN" means "Natural Product Number" which is the Canadian permit number for each natural product

On those "general antiviral" supplements above, I have type A blood, and I've been told that is why I am very sensitive to viral infections. I typically get several each flu season.

By taking two or three of the above "general antivirals" when a virus starts to drag me down, in every single instance the symptoms vanish within an hour, and they stay vanished. (Interestingly, the olive leaf works great on suppressing tooth and gum apparent dental infections too.)

SECOND ENCOURAGING NEWS:

cdc-deaths-2020.jpg

Note that 2020 is included, and the most relevant column is Deaths per 100,000, compared for the previous decade. Guess what? No huge uptick in deaths in spite of all they hype about how deadly the COVID-19 virus is.

X-Commentators theorize that the reason we see huge (about the same as the flu in previous years) "COVID cases" and "COVID deaths" numbers but no real increase in total deaths is that there has been a large scale labelling of deaths from other causes as COVID deaths. I have heard a number of doctors complain about this. A gunshot death is labelled COVID if the deceased tested positive.

X-Commentators and doctors constantly state that the PCR test is producing a huge surplus of false positive results, which dramatically jacks up the "case" counts. This due to the PCR tests extreme sensitivity, especially when run with over 25 heating (amplification) cycles.

X-Some commentators claim that government payments to hospitals have been implemented to strongly encourage mis-classification of other causes, falsely labelling them COVID. As in several thousand dollars for each patient officially diagnosed as just WITH COVID (doesn't have to be COVID only.) And quite a few more thousand dollars if the patient is put on a ventilator.

X-I have heard reports from medical staff that people who do not need a ventilator have indeed been connected to a ventilator.

Now you may want to disregard the paragraphs above starting with X- as conspiracy theories - no problem. But quite a few sources have repeated that information.

But I do hope the two "encouraging news" items will help you relax a bit. There are, according to doctors, ways to handle and evaluate this COVID issue which say to me there's not much cause for panic.

This news posted by STAT is somewhat alarming . . .

"A survivor of the massive 2014-2016 West African Ebola outbreak almost certainly triggered an outbreak currently underway in Guinea, according to a new genetic analysis, news that has landed like a bombshell in the community of researchers who study the dangerous virus.

The analysis suggests that a survivor of the historic Ebola outbreak continued harboring the virus at least five years after being infected, eventually transmitting it to someone. Previously, the longest an Ebola survivor was believed to have shed the virus was about 500 days. . . ."

I can understand that. I'm not eager to receive a vaccine either, and the vaccine supply problems here in the U.S. are so severe that I might not be offered an appointment for one in the near future. Fine with me, since it appears that this vaccine effort will be a long haul nearly everywhere and that by the time 'herd immunity' is achieved (if it ever is) we'll all be lining up for booster shots or new vaccines.

Not so. The vaccine problems are being addressed. They are up to delivering over 2.5 million shots a day.

I got appointments for me and Barbara at a nearby Walgreens. It was for both shots of the Moderna version. We get our second doses on March 30.

The first visit took 30 minutes for us both. This included 15 minutes wait to make sure it’s all OK before they hand you vaccination cards.

Glad your experience was good. :) I think I read earlier this week that your state is one of the top half-dozen or so in Covid-response, preparations, and vaccine supplies. I live in Florida, unfortunately, where the idiot governor, Ron DeSantis, is 'in charge'.

Estimating the true magnitude of the pandemic and lockdown deaths – Part 1 & 2

"Although many policy makers across the world refuse to admit it, lockdowns kill. Professors Martin Kulldorff, Sunetra Gupta and Jay Bhattacharya summarized this in the Newsweek on 30 October 2020, that “Lockdown strategies have led to many avoidable deaths among those at high risk from COVID-19 infections, while creating enormous collateral non-COVID health damage on everyone else”.

Death By Policy

Mortality statistics show that many people have died from lockdown-related causes, not from Covid-19.

CALGARY: Canadian governments are constitutionally obliged to do more good than harm as they respond to the COVID-19 virus. But the opposite is happening, says lawyer John Carpay, President of the Justice Centre.

Chinese Agents Helped Spread Messages That Sowed Virus Panic in U.S.

"United States intelligence agencies have assessed that Chinese operatives helped push the messages across platforms, according to six American officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to publicly discuss intelligence matters. The amplification techniques are alarming to officials because the disinformation showed up as texts on many Americans’ cellphones, a tactic that several of the officials said they had not seen before."

You can argue whether all COVID-19 deaths have been properly recorded, but it's clear a lot more people have become ill as a result of the pathetic way in which the pandemic was managed in the U.S. last year.

Prolonged immune response may contribute to post-COVID-19 blood clots

"In addition to signs of blood vessel damage, the team found that survivors had an abundance of inflammatory proteins called cytokines that are produced by immune cells. They also found unusually high numbers of immune cells called T cells, which help destroy viruses, despite the fact that the virus was already gone."
Is it sheer coincidence that these neurological and vascular problems happen to be associated with our autoimmune system, and that the same proteins that our body uses for vascular and neurological production also happen to have the same spike protein as SARS-CoV-2 ? I think this deserves to be investigated and have written to a couple of specialists. So far no reply.

The bigger question here is that if it is the case that our own immune systems are responsible for these problems as well as long-hauler's syndrome, and the research is suggesting that such is the case, even after the virus itself is gone, then is it really responsible to be giving out hundreds of millions of doses of a vaccine that causes the same immunological response?

They tell us us the vaccines have been "fully tested" but the truth is that they just moved the goalposts. The longer-term effects have not been documented because there hasn't been enough time. They tell us the vaccines are "safe" even as the list of side-effects grows, and is virtually identical to all the symptoms of the disease itself.

I am not an "anti-vaxxer". I am a critical thinker. If the disease causes these problems because of an immunological response, why wouldn't the vaccine cause the same problems when it is designed to cause the same immunological response? Now we're seeing those problems. Just because they are rare, at least so far, isn't a reason to be dismissive of them.

Sounds like the AstraZeneca issue or another vaccine conspiracy. In the US over 110 million have had at least one dose and there is over six months experience with the trials included. This isn’t a problem for us at least. AstraZeneca isn't approved for use here..

As I write this, it's eight days after we received the second dose of the Moderna vaccine.

In saying that, COVID-19 has caused some of its victims to suffer long-term effects that are being evaluated. Indeed, the vaccines may help alleviate these symptoms with some people.

No conspiracy or even a conspiracy theory in my post. It's based on the science and critical thinking and deserves to be taken seriously.

Mind you the larger story certainly has the potential for some intrigue, and if the potential for problems that I've identified can also be caused by the vaccine, as seems to be the case, then there's the potential for some major corporate and political fallout, and no type of vaccine would be any safer than another. A completely different and more pharmaceutical approach would be required, in which case the "big pharma" conspiracy theorists would be all over that instead of the vaccine.

In the meantime, who can provide a definitive counterpoint to the science and logic used for my concern? I'd like to see that. Until then I don't want any of that vaccine in my system or the lousy virus. I also hope you don't develop any vascular or neurological disorders. The list of the long haul related symptoms include:
