Extraordinary Claims DO NOT Require Extraordinary Evidence

Actually Lance you struck one of the problems I have encountered about defining the 'UFO community' in my thesis. I have used the term 'UFO enthusiast' which I am not particularity happy with for numerous reasons. As a sociologist the tendency to use shorthand such as these , while not meant to...

Orson Welles' War of the Worlds

This article, within the Skeptical Inquirer, seems to support the suggestion that the 'panic' has been at least ,exaggerated : link

    Getting involved - BUFORA, MUFON?

Hello Bits Missing, I have no experience of either group, but if you want to join a UK specific forum that reflects the best in 'British UFOlogy' (if there is such a thing) I suggest signing up to the UK-UFO.org mail listing which you can find here . You will find many noteworthy members...

April 4th show - Hopkins, Randle & Jacobs

May I suggest Dr Chris French ? You can find his main website here. He seems quite conducive to engage with paranormal proponents, I have heard him on several pod-casts debating such issues as well as having read several of his papers in the course on my research.

    The Guest Host Board

Despite the prostration from Schuyler , I think he would make a great, albeit temporary host/guest, his knowladge of the UFO feild seems extensive, and perhaps would add a even more critical edge to the show. Best wishes to Mr Bideny, and thanks for your contribution.

    Old hag syndrome

I thoroughly recommended Huffords ' The Terror that comes in the night : An experienced -centered study of the supernatural assault tradition' (1989) for a sober and sympathic assessment that does not rely on psychological reductionism, for anyone interested in this subject.

August 30th Episode with Karl Mamer

Maybe you listened to a different show than I did, Mamer attempted to answer the questioned posed to him. You may disagree with his conclusions but that hardly merits the bile you have set forth. It is a shame that civility is not extended to people of other viewpoints. I mean 'Fuck Karl Mamer'...

Legal Immunity for Swine Flu Vaccine Makers

I was merely pointing out that, if I was to hand out medical advice to people I would have courage of my convictions. If the scenario portrayed does not pan out in the way you described in your original link(or more the implications of the link), then surely that undermines other 'conspiracy'...

Legal Immunity for Swine Flu Vaccine Makers

Well apart from house accidents click me for scary stats! Are houses also part of IT, I mean they (i.e household accidents) seem to be far more effective than the N.W.O in killing the average citizen than any flu vaccine(sorry for being factious!)?

Legal Immunity for Swine Flu Vaccine Makers

That is interesting, so you are prepared to gamble on your (and others) health but not fully to commit to this being a 'truism'. Are most other conspiracy so easily assuaged? Putting it another way how probable do you find this scenario to be? I mean your asking people to abstain from a...

Legal Immunity for Swine Flu Vaccine Makers

If, for the sake of argument, that this does not pan out the way you predict, does this change your view on conspiracy theories in general? Or how will you account for the discrepancy?

BTW, just a note on the closed "Roswell" thread

On a side note if anyone knows of previous study's that support/don't support the 'social marginality hypothesis' please let me know.

BTW, just a note on the closed "Roswell" thread

As far as I can tell Donald Warren (1970) was the first 'academic' to suggest a link between social and economic situation and encounters with UFOs. Warren subscribed to the the 'social marginality hypothesis', however his study was based on the 'contactee' movement prevalent at the time, and...
