Philip J. Imbrogno withdrawing from paranormal research!

Ok but is there another side to this story ? We all know that there has always been disinformation like the Richard Doty types at work in this field.
Is it possible that Imbrogno was involved in deliberate disinformation ? IS it possible that he knew all along that someday he would implode and cast all his work in to doubt ? This is a great scenario for a disinformation specialist. The Richard Doty's of the world must be loving this we already have serious researchers thinking about leaving the field again ( Hello Don Ecker ) Nice take down Phil.

I know it's more probable that Imbrogno is just a charlatan but in this UFO field you just never know for sure.

Sparks ( my real last name )

He is just a con man. Not a government plant. With men like this there is no need to inject the UFO community with disinformation.

I thought it was a bit of a bummer, actually. Especially since the subject of Djinni is such a fascinating one, and I really liked the episode of the Paracast where they were talking about it. But if he kind of sucks... Although, that said, I don't know that he kind of sucks because all I have is the word of people here.

Are any people still researching this topic, at least?

It costs you no money to find out for yourself. If you read through this thread I outlined exactly what I did to find out definitively that he has no education from the claimed universities. Yes I am still researching it. unfortunately, the instant gratification research is over. Now I am in the "hurry up and wait" line. But, unfortunately for Phil I am persistent.

I apologise, and realise that I have an unfortunate tendency to be infuriatingly neutral on certain issues.:frown:

When I say "bummer" it is more to do with all these things being uncovered. But it is good that there are still people interested in what is still a fascinating subject.

I've said it before -- am only an interested novice -- and not disagreeing with anyone here. I just don't like to hate strangers on the evidence of one (albeit really good) site.

Unfortunately there are boring jobs to do, classes to attend, stories to write, and all manner of things forcing indepth research on these matters well into the sidelines.

:( Please forgive me for being a bit of a "paranormal dummy" as a result. This isn't my main subject of interest, and I did not mean to offend anyone.

It's OK. You'll always have a home in Whitley's Unknown Country forums ;)

I can't seem to find it anywhere, but does anyone have a link to the research Phil did on Smurfs ?! I think they lived in caves near Mt. Kisco NY. Thanks in advance !

Heard the last show yesterday night and from the tone in don's voice you can tell how personally affected he is. As I wrote in my last post weeks earlier I can relate to that. No matter if you agree on Phil's views he was (actually probably still is) a likeable guy. But I guess a lot of charlatans are... :(As to his last book on djinn I can tell only one thing. Don't judge a book by its cover! Literally... Since there are two names on it. And discrediting this book just because of Phil would do Rosemary wrong and this isn't fair. I admit that I bought the book, read it, enjoyed it and still do. And finally: although I'm too late all the best to you, Don! (Btw the interview with Vito Saccheri was highly entertaining and gave me a lot to think about. Thanks for the repost)

So, your the one. :p Seriously, don't you have to pay to join that site? If I'm gonna pay it's gonna be for Bama or Packer football or Braves baseball. Something important.

I think the forum was always open to anyone paying or not. I don't know what it is like now.

I don't know if anyone mentioned this, but the Mysterious Universe July 21st podcast finally talked about the whole Imbrogno affair. They credited Lance, but then went after his skeptic nature. They didn't mention/credit anyone else here, except Don Ecker, who they called Dan Ecker.

They also completely forgot to mention the whole stolen valor aspect.

I was about to try and received the following message:

" Sorry, this web page contains blocked content. Your Session has been logged

*Link was here*
Category: Tasteless"

(hmmmm....... They're onto us...)

Edit: OHHH. oops my apologies. In my innocent little mind I never imagined that the term "Smurf" could ever have meant something rude. Link removed.

Whitley sometimes talked about his relative in the Air Force, with those legendary ufo-gubbermint-coverup-y connections/access. Or was there two of those guys? I am recalling a Col. Edward Strieber and Gen. Exxon (or Exon?) It seems like nowdays, it would be easier with the internet and online background and military background verification systems, to corroborate those tales?

More "valor" mischief?

It's fitting that I present this announcement, which we received from Rosemary Ellen Guiley, about her involvement with Imbrogno on a forthcoming book:

The second book I was to write with Philip J. Imbrogno, “Multidimensional Portals,” scheduled to be published this December by Llewellyn, has been cancelled with the help of my attorney. Imbrogno’s portion of the completed manuscript contained outright fabrications and potential copyright violations (plagiarism), especially pertaining to his “science.” I have the rights to my own material back and am pursuing other projects. I have no further association with Phil.

I hope that brings this sorry episode to a conclusion.

Apparently she has an immunity to the integrity virus that plagues Phil. Good for her.
