I'm not so sure about that. Bigelow does keep a pretty low profile. It's not like he's an American version of Richard Branson, another billionaire looking to get into the space business. I'm sure he gets plenty of interview requests and the like, but the truth is most people don't know who he is and would know the motel chain he started better than the aerospace company. Of course he has security and undoubtedly very good security for his needs, but he's just not famous.

I can't believe they missed the obvious. It's really simple. The guy made billions by producing and running affordable travel lodges. He has bought into the idea of space tourism and thinks he can make money doing it. That's it.

As for his paranormal interests, I suspect he saw something fairly close up when he was young. That drove his interests. Once he was rich he wanted to know more. It's not like trying to keep shit secret or to ones self is new ground in the UFO world. The biggest difference is that he isn't trying to make money off the knowledge he has amassed. If you think I'm wrong ask pretty much any "researcher" for a copy of their amassed raw research data. You'll get some "buy the book, it's all in there" type statement. I actually left the program with more respect for Bigalow.

Or you'll get a "give me [insert ridiculous amount here] so I can retire" type statement. What you won't get is access to their research data.
 
I don't like this show. Not only because I think Ventura is actually just a guy who's after money and looking cool, but because they make everything sound so stupid and artificial.

I also think it's inappropriate that they decided to just walk onto private property by jumping a locked fence. You can't just invade people's property. Ventura wants to talk about police states and government oppression, but he doesn't even think it's necessary to honor and respect the right to property and privacy of his fellow civilians. That's ridiculous.

Yer funny Lance! I'm not surprised that the normal post-production process of this particular show ebbed and flowed over an extended period of time Oct 2011—Nov 2012. I'm sure the actual machinations of what went on and why will be held in private by the principles, and it doesn't surprise me that the show's original vision was compromised i.e., what was the trade off to get Bigelow to sign a release form? Who supervised the narration re-write, who supervised the final edit, etc. I'm aware of how these legal formalities are written and how politics can play a part in the post-production process to put projects in-the-can. Don't you think billionaires have a bit more clout in negotiations than myself or you? I met Tye and the A. Smith team a year and a half ago in Studio City, CA and we worked closely on the development of the Skinwalker [Ranch] portion of the Bigelow show. We filmed at the ranch in Oct 2011. The end result did not represent their stated vision and efforts at presenting the subject matter. Ask them... contact the producer[s} of the Jessie Ventura show re: Skinwalker (Bigelow) Episode. I'll be interested in what they tell you...Report back to us, I'll dig more on my end...

Is there some kind of history I've missed between you and O'Brien? He's always so cordial and you're always so aggressive. Was there some kind of on-air insult he levied against you that he's now trying to make up for with the friendly demeanor, but you're still pissed; or, are you just generally kind of a badger?

I don't mean that as an insult, or anything. There's just so much bite to everything I see from you, at least in this space, that you come off as a little badgery.

The term 'conspiracy' is seen as a dirty word - like no sane person would believe any conspiracy theory. The naysers have successfully lumped silly conspiracy theories with what I would call genuine ones.
But we need to keep in mind what a conspiracy really is; more than one person collectively deciding to commit a crime. Is anyone gonna tell me that that never happens?

Is there anyone out there for instance who thinks the official JFK murder story is correct? I would contend also that there is proof of a military conspiracy to not be truthful about UFOs.

So if the US government cannot be trusted on such a huge issue like the assassination of a well-loved President, it's hardly a leap to think they (or a part of government) would wish to hide knowledge of what is simply the biggest issue ever to confront the human race - the existence of ET life.

So, yes there are countless idiots peddling ridiculous conspiracies but that does not mean there are not real ones - a bit like Billy Meier's ridiculous wedding cake photos do not invalidate all UFO photos.
 
Naw, ProfOccam, Lance obviously has nothing better to do w/ his time or he'd be doing it. He obviously thinks everyone here at the Paracast (w/ very few exceptions) are a bunch of deluded imbeciles incapable of rational thought about the so-called "paranormal" subjects we cover here -- topics that he is convinced are utter BS. And his condescending tone and baiting-style shows that he considers us as complete idiots beneath his contempt. That's why he LOVES to monitor this site (and probably others) — making friends and gracing all of us w/ his warm, wonderful, heartfelt, positive influence and getting his self-prescribed dose of ego-boosting "energy" (one of Lance's favorite words, btw ;) ). He pities all of us cretins and he's doing all of US a favor while on some sort of self-appointed mission to save us all from our poor, sad delusions. If he ain't getting paid to monitor this site (and others?), it's very, very sad, IMO. Someone said before that debunkers are like atheists who go from church to church to belittle the faithful that there "is no God." Doubly sad really when you ponder the motivations of such individuals. We'll ask Lance about his motivations when we tape the show tomorrow.... be sure to get all your questions in folks, and tighten your seatbelts, its may be a bumpy ride!

I admit I was told privately a few things about the show's process by one of the producers and that process was compromised. They were not happy about it—let's leave it at that, OK? I worked with them closely (as in was "paid" by them) and you don't have a clue as to what went on, when it happened and how it went down.

You are back to your antagonistic baiting and calling my integrity into question which I take personally and do not appreciate. And you are back on notice.

Lance: YOU are not the final arbiter of truth, so do yourself and all of us a favor and stop trying to impress us all w/ your high and mighty, know-it-all attitude...

That's one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard. My parents dragged me to church for years and I don't remember any atheists showing up on Sunday. What would they do, stand outside the doors with signs that say "There is no God"? Funny how the faithful have a problem with that, if it ever happens, but no problem with the Christo-fascists that show up at abortion clinics to scream at women and scared teenage girls. If you're speaking metaphorically, it's a pretty poor metaphor.

I don't find the debunkers who pester and berate everyone with their point of view any more ridiculous than the believers who do the same thing. How many times do we hear believers claiming that people just need to open their eyes or throwing out accusations of people being paid government agents because they don't subscribe to the believers particular brand of truth? I think the absolutes that get tossed around in this field on both sides are pretty damn ridiculous.

My point exactly! And I used that particular metaphor for a reason. Debunkers are no worse nor better than those "true-believers" who suspend their disbelief and prostrate themselves with faith.
 
Skeptics and Debunkers are essential to moving forward in the understanding of these subjects. There are valid issues and there are absurd ones. But we need to address them all. If the UFO subculture wants its opinions on the validity of the various phenomenon to be regarded as largely influenced by evidentiary conclusions then we must present the argument having considered the counter opinions. The real problem is that you have something approaching religious fervor on both sides.

The real key is what we will accept as evidence. To some it is as loose as an emotional connection and to others it is as strict as hard laboratory science. Either way, we should all agree that much more clear evidence is needed before a definitive conclusion can be made.

Lance, doesn't Bigelow's statement that there are indeed strange things going on at the Skinwalker ranch and the fact that he is obviously telling his employees not to talk about it, give you any reason to stop and think that maybe, just maybe, not all people who think that there might be something to at least a few claims of the paranormal, are deluded and mislead? I mean, why bother arguing with Chris about wether or not Bigelow might have influenced the cutting and broadcasting of that (indeed quite crappy) show, when Bigelow did admit to his interest in the paranormal / in UFOs and stated that there might actually something genuinely inexplicable be going on at the Utah ranch? I don't know if he's ever done as much before?

What makes Bigelow's opinion more or less valuable than anyone else? Because he has a lot of money? Who cares what he thinks? I can't speak for Lance but I'm more interested in any hard evidence that he may or may not have, not his opinion. What he personally thinks isn't sufficient proof of anything.

And yes the show, (In general, I can't speak for this episode since I haven't seen it) is a steaming pile of shite. I'd love to see someone take Ventura by the pony tail and mash his face into a wood chipper.
