Saw this forum and had to post my experience

I'll admit that I just joined, today, and I've read none of the posts. But in 1994 I saw an enormous black triangle, and, I saw it from very close range; had it been on a horizontal plane, I could have hit the thing with a rock. It was "Fire in the Sky" kinda distance away. And the damned thing was just "parked" above an interstate freeway. I'd seen it for miles as I approached it (it was dark and thing had these brilliant "headlights" - I thought it was an airplane). I'd estimate that it may have been 200ft.x200ft.x200ft. By the time I reached the thing, on the freeway, it was just above a grove of trees - and huge. The whole thing was like the final scene in "Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind" - and scary as hell. Apparently it was large enough to hold a Chevy conversion van - but that's kind of a long story. The week that this happened there had been a bunch of stuff on the national news about UFOs over Lake Michigan, here in Michigan. I didn't pay much attention - whoops!

A couple of months ago I was thanking someone for giving me a copy of a radio program about UFOs and I told them a bit about all of this. They asked me if I'd write it down - so I did. I can say this - if anyone thinks these things are from around here, well, I think you're really on the wrong track. And if I woulda thought there was any chance that thing was from around here I wouldn't have eventually spent a bunch of time working through this deal with a social worker.

It's a bit long - but about 20 years later I tried to write down the whole story. If anyone's bored, here's a link:

great. i love hearing about this stuff first hand. i really find this giant triangle scene really weird, i mean more weird than 'normal' ufo's!
you have to wonder what possible purpose such a large craft could have flying so close to the ground. if it is not intentionally showing itself to us, then at least it does not care one way or the other. i wonder if it is conducting some sort of survey? (not about which burger you like best).

Yeah - I kept thinking, "Why is thing JUST SITTING HERE and letting me look at it...??". Everbody thinks it would be fun to see a UFO - lemme tell ya', when your in the car alone and it's dark, and, something is that damned big and weird - man, I thought it was the end of the world or something. Man - I'm kinda high strung and at the time I had these capsules called "Librium" in a bottle in my pocket (very weak tranzuilizers). I never took the things. I literally chewed 2 or 3 of the capsules trying to start breathing again, while I was trying to drive. It scared me almost to death - I was pretty non-funtional for a couple of days. Maybe some people can process this crap better - the whole chain of events was very unsettling, to me - coulda lived with the "mystery" better, I think. If you read that story I wrote that one lady, Carolyn, was really a mess. And it sure as hell seems as if she got abducted. I mean - this stuff all sounds so damned nutty but when it happens in your own life it just "is what it is". I watch people debate this stuff, now, and just think, "Well - they'll find out sooner or later....".

They're pretty clearly horsing around with DNA, I think. I suspect that we may be related to these guys, somehow. I know that sounds crazy, but I also know that these women I worked with were not whack jobs. And I'm a nervous guy, but, not a crazy guy. What I was looking at was no high tech aircraft from the planet Earth - I know better.

Welcome to the forums Guy. Thank you for your story, it is quite amazing. I had a similar sighting but not as close, because I was not as close to the object we saw I could not define a shape because I only saw it from the side and rear. My object was also hovering in near white out conditions at times and the temp was about 3 below zero. The object I saw moved away from us but then came rather quickly back at us and then veered away and flew parallel to the road i was on, I jumped out and tried to take a photo with a brand new point and shoot but the pic didnt turn out well, all you can see is a reddish colored light that was in the center and bottom of the object. We followed it at 70 - 80 mph at times trying to keep up with it. (some of that stretch of road was covered in black ice so it made for a scary drive). When we saw we could not keep up with it i slammed on the brakes and tried to take another photo of it, and that is when a small jet flew over the car and chased the object out of site. I returned home and immediately called the airport to report it because the Mayo Clinic helicopter follows these roads to car and farm accidents. I was connected to the tower and was told there was nothing on radar in our area. I told him what we just saw and he said sorry, would i like to be connected to FAA, i said yes and was told the same thing, no traffic in the area. My report was filed with MUFON.

I can't imagine it would be just for show. The expense, risk, and trouble of operating such a thing requires a task that warrants its presence. I think close proximity to the surface signals a physical interaction with something on the ground itself. Information gathering can be done at a distance; you get up close to pick things up or deposit them. Just a thought.

Be glad that you weren't that close to it - and that the darned thing wasn't stationery. I kept thinking, "Is this thing gonna take me...".

lol... i would pay money to be taken away... but i dont think they accept cash.

Well - I'm a lot better with the whole deal now. But I've had some time to process the events - and a little help from a social worker. The social worker is a very odd story, too. She believed me completely because she lived about 2 miles from where this happened and a little neighbor girl, 9-years old, had told her and her husband that she and her grandmother had pulled off the freeway to look at something very similar...and in about the same spot. That was a very odd coincidence and it helped me to just lay out what happened, without feeling like a loon. I'm beginning to wonder if there's really any such thing as a coincidence - that's one of the things that I've taken away from this. What were the chances that this gal at Community Mental Health would live near there, and, that someone would have told her a similar story?

First time I've heard about such a craft in Michigan. I believe there was a good deal of these sightings in a 'corridor' in California, and of course the times in Arizona.
Being 1994 you would not have had a camera phone obviously and few people always carry a camera!

People who see UFOs should have to carry a camera all the time. To my knowledge, there has never been a sighting of a UFO in my home city! We are the least interesting to the UFO visitors, wherever they maybe from.

lol... i think Gene, David and that goofy-ex-moderator-socialist-movie-maker-guy started that collection.

If you knew me - uhm....I'm kinda like Don Knots - a pretty nervous guy. If I woulda had a camera, TRUST ME, I would NOT have been taking any pictures of this thing - lmao. I would give props to anyone who would have this happen and have the, uhm, "guts" (not the word I'm thinking of...) to pull over and get some photos. I wanted one thing - to get as far away from this thing as I could, as quickly as possible!

not me. if it was that close i would walked right under it and threw a rock at it to see if it would open up. i know what you mean about taking photos tho. in my sighting, even tho i am a photographer, it did not even dawn on me to take a photo at first. all i wanted to do was absorb every second of my sighting into my brain.

Well - I dunno. For me, this was just to damned scary. I've heard Travis Walton interviewed and this was the same sorta distance (from their truck). And it was a helluva lot bigger - a LOT bigger. I really thought we were being invaded or the thing might take me, or something. I think I could see one now and not freak out. I'd still rather not be alone, in the dark when it happens. In that story I wrote I mentioned that I kept having a really odd feeling, too, that I shouldn't be there - that kept going throuhg my mind. I was like, "No problem - I'M GONE!". And I'm not making any of this stuff up....

LOL - I woudn't recommend throwing rocks at one of these things....ya might not come back. Ya' might get more than you bargained for, anyway...

Unfortunately you didn't stay to watch and record the entire sighting or get out to explore it further. Consequently there are a bunch of separate bits and pieces to the story. It may not have been a Goodyear Blimp, however it is entirely possible and not too difficult to make a giant lighter than air trinagle that can hover motionless and silently. Unless I missed it in your story, because you didn't see it depart or move, we have no way of eliminating that possibility. I also find it hard to believe that with this thing hovering over a freeway, that people ( including yourself ) would not have stopped to get out and take a closer look at it. Personally I would say "to hell with work" and investigate it then and there. The most convincing part is that you were so impressed with it that you believe it was alien. Can you please provide some further details on exactly why you have drawn that conclusion based on the evidence from your own part of this experience.

Thanks

Next month, a V-shaped airship bigger than a baseball diamond is due to rise from the West Texas desert to an altitude of 100,000 feet (30.5 kilometers), navigate by remote control, linger above the clouds and drift back to earth.
"The full-size station in our grand vision is 2 miles across," John Powell, the company's founder, told MSNBC.com. "
