MUFON - I took the leap.

Is anyone willing to share some opinions on whether the (ufo) phenomena is terrestrial; extraterrestrial, inter-dimensional, spiritual, all, or none of the aforementioned? All of that factors into what we know or don't know and why.

I don't know if I expected anything more out a show on the History Channel, but if I was searching for a "scientific study of UFOs'" I would conclude that MUFON was not what I was hoping to find.

Just once I would like to see one of these shows that are not based on "if this happened, then that might have happened and something interesting could have happened after that." So we saw Roswell taken for granted as a crashed craft that Truman had to confront; ETH offered as an explanation for everything; memos supposedly shown without any analysis of who wrote them, their context, or authenticity; and of course the usual hints and allusions to JFK.

But I have to admit I have always liked the idea of Nixon driving up with Jackie Gleason to look at the aliens. Somehow, I want to believe that.

That's the problem with the so called scientific method. I call it the "Ten Theories Equals a Fact" approach.

It appears to be a function of fads. Look at the 50's - look at now. Where are the sightings now? They used to be 'saucers' - then 'cigar-shaped' - now they are blips of light. Or lights on massive 'structures'.

If one looks at the reported sightings - and I am no expert, just speaking from what I recall - they seem to cluster around certain description-markers in a given time period. It's as though people take cues from each other, witting or unwitting.

That said, the 'phenomenon' seems terrestrial in that it is a function of (faulty) human observation - and much of it is likely military experimental craft of one kind or another being spotted over the years.

Abductee stuff is complicated psychological stuff related to consciousness and awareness if not (mainly) outright wishful thinking or hoaxing. We have the power to convince ourselves of many things - and 'memory' itself can be perverted for a variety of reasons/causes.

Extraterrestrial and inter-dimensional are stabs in the dark, without any practical foundations. 'Dimension' has been/is an old science fiction meme, that has gotten lose into the general psyche, but has no 'reality' from anywhere else. Spiritual tends to be a catch-all term used without any sense of an exact meaning or reference.

Then there are the anunnaki /nephilim approaches. So many possibilities; whether probable or not, always brings us back to square one.

I took the leap myself a few months ago. I've been a member of MUFON for a few years, but I went for the whole package. I took the MUFON Field Investigator test. It wouldn't be fair to go into too much detail, but the test was impressive enough. The training, sources, and connections regarding this phenomena, are far better than I've had access to prior to this. My experience with the upper echelons has been great! They've treated me with nothing but friendly respect. Most of the Investigations don't require high maintenance, because most are just lights in the sky and/or identifiable terrestrial objects. I'm still waiting and hoping for that dream case. Who knows, it may come! I do have to agree that Hangar 1 appears to be moving toward the silly side. Now let the mocking begin... :D

There is nothing to mock when someone steps up to actually bother to investigate UFOs for real, instead of pontificating from an armchair. You have my respect for one.

Hangar 1 is an ok TV show and invetiably suffers from producers etc who are probably not actually into UFOs. It does not represent the rank and file MUFON member so CocaCola Cowboy, you have nothing to feel bad about, only positive. I hope that case comes your way!

Thanks for responding Goggs Mackay. I'm not feeling bad, actually feeling good, all things considered. The mocking remark was in response to what Jeff Crowell said in his original post back in October (page 1). I agree with you on the TV show. They're no doubt trying to appeal to the audience they think will watch the show. The producers and sponsors probably have a lot more say than they should have. I believe they're making a mistake. Or perhaps someone with more power than MUFON is making the decisions for what goes on the air. I dunno, but TV always seems to go that direction. For example, "Reality TV Shows" now that's an oxymoron if I ever heard one... Take Care

Looked into joining MUFON and the links between nuclear sights is concerning going on eyewitness from MUFON . Also Nuclear linkage to Brazel Roswell Crash! -A Nuclear Specialist team was sent in and it's in the Gen Ramey Memo.

I respect anyone's right to follow their heart, however when they join an organisation who have members in their organisation who are peodophiles and have members which are abusive and disrespectful of women that I can not support. I am especially surprised at you Goggs because like me you are a citizen of this great United Kingdom. I have to say Gene I was unaware you were a member of MUFON but I personally can not support it or can I support any show that does.

I admire your sense of ethics. However to be fair, none of us suspected Harzan would get lured by a detective posing as a 13 year old into meeting in-person. We've interviewed him. Given his intelligence, I really doubt he believed the detective was actually 13 years old. I also doubt that had she actually been only 13, that he would have agreed to meet for the purpose for anything illegal.

This wasn't a locker-room type situation where the coach had certain facts and there could be no doubt. No physical contact was even made. The charge is one where he was setup and then accused of "solicitation". It's pretty dirty on both sides. But such charges have a stench that nobody wants to be even remotely associated with, except maybe his lawyer.

Personally, I've never been a MUFON member, and I don't know if Gene still is. I also don't know if Harzan's case has been concluded, and if so, what the verdict was. I did a brief search before posting this, but didn't find anything new.

Well I respect your comments Randall and perhaps you are correct and perhaps I am being to moralistic, however when something doesn't sit well with me then it just doesn't.
To quote an old phrase, all it takes for evil to succeed is for good men to say nothing.

What impresses me is that you chose to like my reply. This suggests to me that you're working on more circuits than a certain number of people. The core of your concern is definitely admirable plus you are able to appreciate that there could be mitigating circumstances, and that everyone deserves a fair trial. It's a touchy subject :p.

The movie American Beauty pretty much says it all ...

I was a paid member years ago. I also received a press membership for a year or two. But that's awhile back. I am not a member of any UFO group, except Randall's. My motto is that, in general, I won't join a club that would have me as a member.
