Well Gang, don't know if you heard but today, early, got a call from CyberstationUSA and was notified that they ran into a glitch ... somebody ( Anonymous maybe?) hacked Go Daddy and since CyberstationUSA uses their servers ... Oops! Anonymous member claims responsibility for GoDaddy outage - CNN.com

At any rate the show I had planned for Monday Sept. 10th I put off until Sept. 11th. The show? Remember Joe Firmage, the internet millionaire who discovered UFOs back in 1998 while one of the head honchos of US Web? Well they basically busted him out of the firm and he decided to take his money and play with UFOs. Well I called him and got him on my show Strange Daze (on the Liberty Works Radio Network) for 3 hours on Feb. 1, 1999. We were having what I thought was a great interview except for all the damned commercial interuptions ... and then finally Firmage hung up on me! LOL!! At any rate, this one is worth a listen to .. Only on CyberstationUSA starting at 10:00 PM Pacific Time!

When doing a bit of searching for Firmage on the web I found this thread talking about Firmage.

Joseph (Joe) Firmage...what happened to him?

One post claimed to be from a former employee who alleged Firmage was engaging in substance abuse, writing fraudulent checks etc. I have no information that this is correct but include it here to possibly explain what did happen to him. Anyone out there have any information on Joe Firmage?

Yes Chikane I know. I sent mail to CyberstationUSA about the link and it should be fixed soon. Thanks for the heads up!

I got that for the recent Chris O'Brien show too? (some kind of 'no data'-type message when I right-clicked and tried to download)

it works now :), thanks for your answer here Don.

goggsmackay> the one with Chris O'Brien is tagged as a reapeat (R) so you might find it on a another date, but apparently it also works too now. By the way, this is a good idea to tag your shows Don, so that we know when you post a new one.

you're welcome goggsmackay

 somewhat surprising (how much of truth is there?), this show left me the impression of a quite level-headed guy for someone in his twenties.

Yea Chikane, well until he hung up and didn't finish what he said he would. My wife tells me that I am too severe on people when they tell me one thing and then do something else. I tell her "sorry bout that .. but like the man sez ... money talks and bullshit walks! There it is ..."

A great show Don.

It looks like he had a startling anomalous experience of some kind that triggered his long slide into obscurity:

"A remarkable being, clothed in brilliant white light, appeared hovering over my bed in my room," he writes. "Out of him emerged an electric blue sphere, just smaller than a basketball, which was swirling with what looks like electrical arcs. It left his body, floated down, and entered me."
Joe Firmage

However, that didn't prevent him from falling for the Majestic 12 document hoax and the back-engineering hoax that says things like transistors and fiber-optics are the result of studying captured alien technology.

I find it remarkable that he fits the classic contactee profile. He has an anomalous experience, gets a message, evangelizes, but fails to produce any real product, service, or actionable intelligence as a result of his extraterrestrial/spiritual encounter. It fits the pattern to a "T."

Talk of blue orbs at the Sherman Ranch and mentions above have reminded me of a long-time family friend (who is/was a pharmacist) and her two daughters long ago reported a visible ball of glowing energy enter their house through the window, float about a bit and then disappear into the TV aerial or power socket (can't remember). Anyway they were obviously concerned as this object was in no hurry and was without a doubt a physical object you could see but was not solid.

The electricity company came out to investigate and the only possible explanation they came up with was ball lightning. I don't know how or why ball lightning might be made and I do not discount the possibility, it's just that I am a little open to a possibly even stranger happenings. The one thing I am positive about is that they did see something very strange. The woman would have been in her late 40's and the daughters early 20's. I have spoke (grilled) all three separately (not to check on them but only had chance to speak individually) and their stories match. I have known these 3 people since I could walk and them making it up is just not the answer, they are not even into anything remotely esoteric and I don't think they'd even heard of ball lightning before it was suggested.
The reason it was the electricity company that they called was that it somehow seemed to be partly composed of something electric due to some static electricity effects as the ball hovered near them - it seemed to disappear into something that would have conducted electricity too (metal)....so....who knows? Interesting anyway.

This is how his project MANYONE use to look when the pages were active:
ManyOne Networks

The last thing that I heard of him (in the UFO sense) was that he allegedly donated 1,000,000 $ to Robert and Ryan Wood so they could create ultimate library of UFO literature (sort of a ultimate google search for UFOs). It was called UFODex. Project was at first active and it was concieved that users should pay for accounts so they could have access. However, after some time, site went to unactive mode and for some time now it has a message that it is in upgrade mode. Here it is:
UFOdex℠

Firmage also use to have some of his UFO/Technology essays on his website that actualy State Croatian Radio 3 translated few of them and broadcast them back in 2000. I think I have those essays archived together with croatian shows. I should also have few of his other radio interviews archived, although they were rare. After some search within my archives I located few of the articles from 1990s about him. This is one sample of them - CNN transcript from January 13, 1999 (in red):

CEO OF USWEB RESIGNS TO STUDY UFO's
Joe Firmage a multi-millionaire was interviewed by CNN's Don Knapp on January
13, 1999, at 12:38 a.m. ET. Silicon Valley CEO Joe Firmage Pursues UFO Science after Encounter.

DONNA KELLEY, CNN ANCHOR: Well, those of you who believe in UFO's have a wealthy new ally.

LOU WATERS, CNN ANCHOR: Yes you do. His name is Joe Firmae. He was the CEO of a Silicon Valley company until he had what he calls a very unusual experience. Here's CNN's Don Knapp.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)
DON KNAPP, CNN CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): Don't call him the UFO-
CEO. Joe Firmage has had just about enough of that since going public last
week with his views on UFO's, aliens and space travel.

JOE FIRMAGE, USWEB FOUNDER: It is definitely painful to go through what I have in the past few days.

KNAPP: The multi-millionaire founder of USWEB resigned as CEO, he says,
to spare his company any bad press while he pursues his interest in what he
calls new scientific theories, like how UFO's fly.

FIRMAGE: The only objection that science has put forward to the UFO phenomenon is that we can't control gravity. Well, these new papers are suggesting that very soon we may
be well be able to control gravity.

KNAPP: These papers are detailed on his 600-page Web book at thewordistruth.org. Tuesday he tripled the Web site's capacity, but it still couldn't keep up with all the interest in such things as his encounter.

FIRMAGE: I never referred to the words visitation or alien in that experience that I did in fact have about 15 months ago. It was a very unusual experience, but I would compare it more to a near-death experience.

KNAPP: Firmage suggests that Silicon Valley and the high-tech industry
benefited from a UFO crash at Roswell, New Mexico, in 1947, suggesting that
perhaps what was recovered from the crash was analyzed in government
laboratories. It's this last part that tends to annoy some in Silicon Valley.

MICHAEL MALIAN, SILICON VALLEY HISTORIAN: These were very hard-working
people of the last 50 years, and they, you know, plunged on and they managed to
create these great products. And now somebody comes along and says, no, it
was just aliens whispering in your ear, giving you the ideas.

KNAPP: To prove it may require rewriting the books of science. Firmage says he has the money and the time to try to do just that.

thanks for the excerpt, uforadio

Is it what he wrote in his book or in the show? I don't recall that from the show but I may have miss some parts.

It has been a long time since I looked at the book. He mentioned both in the show. Don even says something like, "Well you know, there is some controversy surrounding those documents. I would have to listen to it again, but I think Joe mentions fiber optics and something else and implies or says outright they came from somewhere else. Joe's voice would drop out some and I missed some of what he said myself, trying to listen to it in the car.
