We're pleased to announce that investigative journalist Leslie Kean, and Charles Halt, a key figure in the Rendlesham incident, are booked for the May 26th episode of The Paracast.

Our recording session will be held on May 23rd from 2 to 4 PM Eastern (11 AM till 1 PM Pacific).

Both Kean and Halt are among the guests this June 29 & 30 at the 2013 Symposium on Official and Scientific Investigations of UAP (UFOs).

Center for UFO Research | 2013 UFO Symposium

Questions for everyone:

What do you think UFOs are?
Do you think that it is quite a leap for many people to think that they are extra terrestrial, or non-human in origin?
The human mind is fooled so easily, so without actual footage of some kind (multiple angles of the same object), how reliable is eyewitness testimony really, regardless of the credentials of the witness?

Question For Leslie:

Can you give us a brief rundown of whom you have approached on behalf of CFI in either the government or the military to setup the liaison program you have spoken of and what the responses ( if any ) have there been?

Question For Charles:

What is your response to the Kevin Conde confession?

Quick Background:
Upon learning of the incident Conde contacted researcher James Easton in 2001 and related that he had played a practical joke on a Security Specialist assigned as a gate guard at the East Gate of RAF Woodbridge. The practical joke occurred during the same general time as the “Rendlesham Forest Incident”, and the circumstances of the practical joke were remarkably similar to the description of the UFO reported by several witnesses.

How do the locals pronounce it: Rendles-Ham or Rendle-Sham?
second way. Phonetically, it would be: rendelshem, but americans tend to say 'sham' instead.

Off-topic: Why do americans say Bernard as Bernaaaahrd .e.g Bernard Herrmann, yet they say Leonard as Leonard as in Leonard Nimoy and not Leonaaahrd. It does my head in.

To Charles Halt.

Gary Heseltine of PRUFOS (the database that maintains sighitngs of UFO's by UK police officers) always made a point (I thought) that was worthy, but do not hear much of - the Control Tower. ATC guys/girls would be more than familiar with the lighthouse nearby - if they weren't, they would not deserve to be up there for safety reasons alone.

They would also be privvy to any radar tracks captured on the nights in question. They would be afforded excellent views around the airfield and surrounding areas. Lastly, as it was holding nuclear weapons at the time, would there not have been pilots on a 2 minute scramble warning (similar to RAF) that would have scrambled, and was anything else scrambled from Mildenhall or perhaps Wittering/Honnington/Cottesmore or other stations close by to assist a possible incursion on the base?

- were any radar tracks sequestered by the USAF for non-release, and if so, are they still, to your knowledge (or best guess) still held by USAF under secrecy today?
- were the ATC people debriefed by yourself or others?
- given that strange phenomena was reported over several nights, were any additional processes or checks put in place after the first night. If not, why not as you had nukes in situ?
- uk police were on site over several days, did you ever maintain contact with any of the officers from that time and were they able to corroborate any additional sightings from across the county with the USAF's own intelligence at the time?
- I think I saw you on TV special on ITV in the UK broadcast 27/06/1997 on a panel that was "FOR" the case that 'UFO's are real' - I think Nick Pope was on there as well (it was 3 FOR the case and 3 AGAINST IIRC) and Michael Aspel was the host. Did any information come to light to you either before, during or after that programme that made you go 'hmmmmmm' and would be of interest to the paracast audience?

thanks,
Bb

Beyond awesome !!

Here's are my questions for Leslie Kean:

How is your opinion evolving around the UAP subject: Where do you position yourself on a scale from (1 to 10). 1 being 'Phenomena originates from earth' and 10 being 'Phenomena is extra-terrestrial' (And what was it 2 years ago ;) ).

Assuming that you have evaluated that there is intelligent control behind the phenomena, does the seeming lack of effort in establishing a communication channel point to nefarious intent or simple observation/documentation tasks?... or to an earthly cause for the phenomena ?

What do you think of anonymous Kewper and his deathbed claims around area 51 and the idea that presidents are not to be briefed on extra-terrestrial affairs? Should accounts from people like Phillip Corso and anonymous Kewper be excluded from UFO symposium-type events because they stir up too much noise? What is your gut feeling on these stories ?

Do you think Paul Hellyer's (former Canadian minister of national defense) wild enthusiasm is hurting the subject ? He's already claiming that there are about 4 different species roaming around planet earth.

Question for Charles Halt:

Having been a witness to the strange Rendelshem event which exposed a craft with spectacular abilities, does the anonymous Kewper account/scenario seem plausible ?

In other words, did Rendelshem expand your consciousness to a point where a Kewper -type account would be easily classified as rational ?

How do you view other experiencers ? What percentage would you classify as irrational ?

Thanks :)

For Charles Halt:

Are you being prevented from revealing more about Rendlesham due to your security oath?

Are you withholding anything because you personally wish to, regardless of security oath?

What do you make of the MOD maintaining that UFOs in general and the events at Rendlesham 'are of no defence significance' - when anyone with a brain cell can see they are supremely relevent?

Do you have any views on the supposed 'secrecy group' that may exist to control UFO information, you will be aware that Lord Hill-Norton believed such a group must exist as even as Chief of the UK Defence Staff, he felt he was being stonewalled when trying to investigate UFO matters - Do you think such a group/people actually exist and if you do, can you guess at who may form the members of such a group (politicians, military, civil servants, civilians, private sector)?

For Leslie Kean:

Having found your book very enlightening, could you envisage a follow-up book, in the manner of Richard Dolan, if there is enough material to use?

How do you square the ever-persistent childish reporting of the UFO topic that labels anyone interested as some kind of crackpot, with a fact such as Chile founding its CEFAA as recently as 1998?
We never hear journalists mention such bodies and certainly they never call such groups crackpots - the negative reporting seems to focus on a small number of 'UFO believers' instead of reporting real institutions having real interest in the topic?

For Charles Halt:

How much of the Rendlesham story is still not publicly known due to security oaths, national defense interests, and the like?

If the full story is not known, is there a statute of limitations of any sort in place that will expire some day, or is it buried for good?

In what ways did the experience change your views on life?

For Leslie Kean:

Do you plan on writing another book on the UFO topic or anything else "paranormal"?

Without naming anyone specifically - have any of the people you've interviewed ever given you off the record details on encounters that are "of the third kind"?

How many years away from the overused "D" word do you guesstimate that are we? (Referring to Disclosure.)

What is the most frightening but credible UFO or UFO-related incident that you are familiar with?

Edited to add: I'm retarded - shoulda read the post above mine first!

For Ms/Mrs Kean - have you had any UFO experiences of your own? Or any paranormal experiences of your own, for that matter? (My apologies if this is a duplicate question.) Also, to re-iterate one of the earlier questions, what is your personal opinion of the UFO phenomenon...real/false.....and what do you believe is the biggest source of UFO's. I would ask that you avoid the typical reply of, "Well I'm just a reporter, I just report the facts and what other people tell me... ." You've been doing this type of valid research into UFOs long enough that your personal opinion holds more weight than most others, like say.....Stephen Bassett and his ilk. With all the experience you hold I'm very interested to know your personal take on the whole matter.

Mr. Halt - what is your take on the debunker's claim that what was experienced in Rendlesham was just a lighthouse shining it's light through the trees? And #2 - do you think part of the cover up has to do with the fact that the U.S. was baby sitting some nuclear weapons on foreign (ally-or-not) soil...something which we weren't supposed to be doing? Lastly, if you would consider this.....Rendlesham is in England, they have a rich history of faeries and elves.....maybe that's what was seen that night? A magical faerie craft. Thoughts? (I'm playing Trixter on that last question, no offense intended.)

Peace.

J.

Jeff - little severe in your tone in the question for Leslie 'don't give that bull-crap reply of...' I am sure you didn't mean to come across the way I am reading it? Perhaps I'm being a little over-critical but imagine Chris reading that verbatim - don't think it would sound very polite.
Can I ask you to change it a little?

Goggs

I agree with Jeff's question, but yeah, maybe she'd react a little nicer if the sentiment is expressed in a more roundabout fashion haha.

I get what you're saying though: I don't think I've ever heard her voice an opinion on the topic other than "this should be investigated, here is a list of the best nuts and bolts cases". It's for this same reason though that her book is the safest, best bet to give to a skeptic - so maybe it's a good thing? There's no shortage of opinions in this field anyway!

I think Jeff's question hasn't lost anything due to the alteration and points to Jeff for agreeing to change it - he didn't have to cos no-one was gonna force him to. Just illustrates he is a decent man.

I have a few questions for Charles Halt.

What do you think of Jim Penniston's claims of touching the craft and receiving a "download" of binary code. Do you think it sounds suspicious that he did not mention touching the craft in his initial report, and did not mention the binary code until 30 years after the event? Why might he have held this information back for so long? Why has he only released the first 5 pages (of a supposed 12)? Does John Burroughs corroborate his claim of touching the craft?

In a recent episode of The Paracast, Chris had mentioned that either John Burroughs' or Jim Penniston's (or both) medical records were not being released to doctors by the Airforce, that they have suffered health problems since the event, and that the Airforce has even attempted to deny that they were ever even in the Airforce. Are any of these claims substantiated? Have you faced any similar problems?

One way to cover up such an event as Rendlesham forest is to plant a disinformation agent with claims so wild, very few people would believe them. Do you believe that Jim Penniston or Larry Warren might be serving this purpose? Your own claims and the audio tape you recorded sound very credible to me, but if you couldn't tell from my first questions, Penniston does not.

Hi,

Before asking a question I would like to express my respect to the work you've done for the UFOs book. It's well written, without any sense of bias or jumps to conclusions. I'm in the final chapters of the book, which I've purchased on iBooks store, spend most of my sporadic spare moments on its reading, mostly during my commutes and you've already have my comment and 5 star rating on the store.

Question #1
Since the book was written and published what impact in people's perception do you believe the book has made by now? Did you have emails from the readers about the book?

Question #2

Are there any new photographic evidence for Belgian case? What are your thoughts about those claims that question the most famous photo of this case?

Thank you!

Questions for Leslie:

1) How would you comment on the controversies regarding Carol Raney and Budd Hopkins? Was Raney right in her evaluation of Hopkins as a sloppy researcher who basically created his own illusions? Budd Hopkins had his mistakes - Jim Morterallo being one - how would you evaluate his work in the end? Do you think he was onto something or not quite so?

2) In the end, how do you feel about the rather recent Santiago case and videos? After all the hype, is it just a couple of insects flying by?

Questions for both:

1) How do you generally feel about the abduction phenomenon? Do you have any interest in it or plan to do any research into it?

2) How would you respond to the old debunkers' question: Why don't we, in this day and age - with so many cameras and cell phones around, have any clear footage of UFOs or related phenomena?

I'm just writing down the last question in that form because I'm really interested in how would they reply to that. Also, Chris and Gene - if you feel that the first question about Budd Hopkins is too much and bad taste, please omit it...

For a number of reasons, I do not plan on asking Leslie about Budd Hopkins or his work. One reason among many: She is not an abduction researcher. Besides, the complaints of an ex-spouse tend to have less credibility for obvious reasons.
