Surveillance & Human Rights

/\ Amen brother. "We are not reality shows and hamburgers. Speak the truth, even if your voice shakes." The best 15 words I read today out of many thousands! Totally appreciate the sentiment and the intent.

None of this is to downplay the problems that the Occupy people tried in a rather disorganized self-compromising manner to protest against, but personally, I kind of like sharing a blanket and a movie, and most of them aren't that badly recorded.

Take it from one who was also on the inside; it's not the spy agencies we need to worry about, companies like Google, Twitter and facebook have slyly obtained permission from the vast majority of us to obtain insane amounts of very relevant data. Places like the CIA, NSA and our UK GCHQ don't have anywhere near the numbers of workers they need to spy on known networks and bad groups and they simply are not interested in what the average person does day to day or what they look at on the internet.
The world of espionage is so different to just 20 years ago. What whistleblowers do can sometimes be admirable but they are looking at the wrong devil.....
