Waarrrrgghh ... time to fight Der Muso-lini with a little DAF (thats "Deutsch-Amerikanische Freundschaft") for those that don't know.

This is a wee video someone made for their classic, "Der Mussolini". So put on your dancing shoes for the great DAF and "Der Mussolini" (ps not a bloody straterfendercastro in sight ... thank god ):

Oh go on ... two more :D.

First, "Liebe Auf Den Ersten Blick"

And from their re-formation a few years back, "Der Sheriff"

Ahh ... DAF ... mad as snakes but would you have it any other way?? :D

dusty;66119 I'm amazed at the price you said those Antigua Strats and Tele's are now. My 79 Strat would be the closest thing I have. Not the absolute apex of what Fender ever produced imo said:
That was for the regular Strats - the antiguas are out of this world. Your 79 is now `vintage', whatever that means.

The Legacys are extremely consistent and well made. I'll assume the current ones are also. There's also the Tribute series, which was made by suggestion of Legacy fans, mfgrd offshore, cheap and worth it. I'd like one but want an ASAT first. My Tele weighs a ton.

The Legacys have medium chunky necks w/ 12" radius, which isn't a favorite of mine but it just seems to work. I think the ASATs have 7.5 radius, which is my favorite. Enjoy that Legacy! Don't know what they're putting in them but I replaced the pickups.

Did a really cool show yesterday for a block party. No video (thank heavens) but an interesting day. ThermionicEmissions for my writeup.

Great stuff Rocketsauce, I like the Roy Buchanan look :)

I Love that third track, must be great fun. Dont know about you but when your in the middle of a set and your blood is up, I often wish I could really sing, and just let rip.
Brilliant.

Mark

thanks Dusty! the guy who can really since in our band is actually the drummer, he has a great voice but par for course the sound guy didnt' turn his mic up when we need it last gig! Doh!

Here's a clip of our drummer singing an R&B tune that I wrote as a joke/parady of today's R&B tunes which I typically don't like, but because Marcus is so good from years of singing at Church the tune comes off totally legit! Our main lead guy/hype man is also a drummer so they switch on this one. You can never have enough good drummers!!!!

Yeah I'm with you there on all that R&B stuff, I'm not a fan.
But on listening to you guys, I think you could do a great cover of this;

Now that's singing. I wanna do that.

I saw Hank 3 a while back, totally kick ass show. That's Duane Denison from The Jesus Lizard on guitar. I'm gonna have to dig out some old albums.

So my band is competing in an online poll and I need a ton of votes to win! If we win we get to play at the hard rock cafe. It seems a bunch of the bands are cheating (surprise!), there is no way some random myspace rapper who has never played a gig has thousands of votes.

Anywho, please vote for my band and if you know how to create a program that will vote for us a bunch of times, hook it up!!!

My band's name is DC FLOW, just visit the link below and vote for us and if you feel compelled, forward this on to as many people as you can through any means necessary!

Good luck Rocketsauce and DC Flow,

I just posted this bulletin on our myspace page,

Do me a favour,
Please vote for DC Flow in the attached pole link.
Just copy and paste if clicking doesn't work.

The guitarist is a friend of mine and I would very much appreciate it if you could all back his band.
All's fair in Love and War as they say, and I know some of the other bands are cheating, so come on help us even the odds a little.
Thanks,
Mark

Anybody like Jon Brion? He's a music producer, film composer, multi-instrumentalist, & Singer-Songwriter. Check out this video of Jon Brion rockin' out on a Harpsichord.8)

This looks like a good a place as any to park a couple of guitar porn pics of my spear gladius I picked up today :D (p.s. sorry bout low quality, my phone camera is rubbish)

Very nice Doc,

So what's the top? Looks like spalted something, and those pickups look pretty hefty too.

Yeah its a spalted maple top on a mahogany body, the pickups are aptly named 'monster-pole' alnicos.

I wanted something wildly different to my strat and I think it fits the bill nicely.

Try listening to this one with your morning cup of coffee.

You'd think they would have done something about that sqeaky kick drum pedal in bar 14. How very inconsiderate :D.

Thanks skunkape, you slay me

Slightly off topic but funny,

I keep noticing the ad's for teeth whitning stuff here. The drummer in the first band I was in The Convicts, (Punk band) sadly the name of the band was prophetic for the other three members, had a really manky set of yellow gnashers and one day the rest of us were just hanging out outside the block of flats (apartments) where he lived around twilight.
He shows up and when he started to speak we were all shocked to see his teeth virtually glowing in the half light. When quizzed on what he had done he replied by saying he had just brushed them with "Vim" a popular household scouring powder at the time over here.

Well if you fancy having Titanium White teeth there's my tip for the day. :D

Still off topic, but I just thought I would mention that I have refused to use toothpaste since 1st grade and I have never had a cavity and my teeth are fairly white for someone who smokes and drinks coffee. I recall, as a young kid, seeing the "Approved By The American Dental Association" label on the back of a tube of toothpaste and asking myself, "How do dentists make a living?" and answering back to myself, "By fixing rotten teeth." Why would people who make a living fixing rotten teeth tell everybody to scrub their teeth multiple times a day with an abrasive that contains toxic industrial-waste (fluoride) if it is really good for you? It made no sense to me then and it makes no sense to me now.
I just use a brush and warm water in the morning and before bed. Seems to do the trick.

And now I'll guide the thread back on track with a song followed by a creepy cartoon with a 'little green cat.'

I'm a big Beatles fan so I'm in seventh heaven at the moment with all the remasters just released last Wednesday (are they available in the States yet?). From what I've heard so far they really do sound a lot different and it really is like rediscovering the songs again. I just got hold of Revolver which is my favourite album and Tomorrow Never Knows sounds awesome. I'm also a big Crowded House/Neil Finn fan. Also love Paul Weller.

As far as playing music I played baritone trumpet in the Edinburgh Military Tatoo when I was eleven which was a fantastic experience. I also played bass in a few bands gigging around venues in London like the Rock Garden, Dublin Castle, Mean Fiddler, The Garage and The Barfly. We used to gig around with a real Hammond keyboard with a massive Leslie speaker taking up half the stage. We certainly suffered for our art - that thing was heavy. I have a Warwick "Thumb" Bass. I also play guitar and keyboards and used to write a bit.
