Guest Suggestions for The Paracast

Seconded.

Thieme is one of the nine-researcher team that produced the major ufo history, UFOs and Government: A Historical Inquiry, two years ago. These are the members of that group: Michael Swords (Author), Robert Powell (Author), Clas Svahn (Contributor), Vicente-Juan Ballester Olmos (Contributor), Bill Chalker (Contributor), Barry Greenwood (Contributor), Richard Thieme (Contributor), Jan Aldrich (Contributor), Steve Purcell (Contributor). Any serious ufo researcher needs to read this work.

Amazon book description:

"Governments around the world have had to deal with the UFO phenomenon for a good part of a century. How and why they did so is the subject of UFOs and Government, a history that for the first time tells the story from the perspective of the governments themselves. It's a perspective that reveals a great deal about what we citizens have seen, and puzzled over, from the "outside" for so many years.
The story, which is unmasked by the governments' own documents, explains much that is new, or at least not commonly known, about the seriousness with which the military and intelligence communities approached the UFO problem internally. Those approaches were not taken lightly. In fact, they were considered matters of national security. At the same time, the story reveals how a subject with such apparent depth of experience and interest became treated as if it were a triviality. And it explains why one government, the United States government, deemed it wise, and perhaps even necessary, to treat it so. Though the book focuses primarily on the U. S. government's response to the UFO phenomenon, also included is the treatment of the subject by the governments of Sweden, Australia, France, Spain, and other countries.

This large-format, fully illustrated book is the result of a team effort that called itself "The UFO History Group," a collection of veteran UFO historians and researchers who spent more than four years researching, consulting, writing, and editing to present a work of historical scholarship on government response to the UFO phenomenon. Michael Swords was the primary author of the United States chapters. The work was coordinated and edited by Robert Powell. Clas Svahn, Vicente-Juan Ballester Olmos, Bill Chalker, and Robert Powell contributed country chapters. Jan Aldrich was the primary content consultant, with additional content consultation and writing coming from Barry Greenwood and Richard Thieme. Steve Purcell was the primary photo illustration editor.

From the foreword by Jerome Clark: "While UFOs and Government revisits an often unhappy history, the reading of it is far from an unhappy experience. The authors, eloquent, intelligent, sophisticated, and conscientious, provide us with the first credible, comprehensive overview of official UFO history in many years... Most of the current volume deals with U.S. military and intelligence responses to the UFO phenomenon, but it also features richly informative chapters that expand the story across the international arena. If you're looking for an example of a nation that dealt productively with the UFO reports that came its official way, you will take heart in the chapter on the French projects... From here on, every responsible treatment of UFOs and government will have to cite UFOs and Government prominently among its sources... this is the real story as accurately as it can be reconstructed in the second decade of the new century. I expect to keep my copy close at hand and to return to it often. While it cannot be said of many books, UFO-themed or otherwise, this is among the essential ones. Stray from it at your peril."

I wold love for Gene and Chris to interview P.I. Tom Grant concerning his belief that Kurt Cobain was murdered.
There is a new movie coming out this year called Soaked In Bleach which will feature his story.

For those who aren't familiar with Tom Grant, he was hired by Courtney Love to find a missing Kurt Cobain after he left rehab. During the investigation Grant began to realize that Kurt was never truly missing and eventually he concluded that Courtney Love and the male nanny, Michael DeWitt, conspired to murder Kurt Cobain.

His website is below:

FYI: Grant has appeared numerous times on the Allan Handleman show and others hows. There's absolutely no fear of any lawsuit from Courtney Love. She will never sue anyone because it would open her up to deposition and she would be forced to answer questions she doesn't want to answer.

Mark McCandlish
I was really impressed Mark McCandlish. He knew a lot and did not pretend to be any more than he was. Here is why I think Mark should be interviewed. I was listening to him on Red Ice Radio (hour one). Toward the end of the interview he suggested from his knowledge (not insider knowledge but from reading technical journals) how UFOs could be powered. Then he said that he was listening to a program with people who interviewed people who had been abducted. My impression was that Mark from the interview had to overcome his own disbelief that their could be such things as abductions. Anyway he asked them what they saw. What they described was what he thought could be propelling these craft. Ray Stanford take note. Finally Mark said that he two had missing time experience and had earlier in the interview said that he had seen multiple UFOs.

The Pascagoula incident was my UFO/paranormal gateway "drug" when I was a kid. That encounter was my catalyst for all things UFO. I deeply regret that you couldn't interview Charles Hickson or Calvin Parker before they both passed. I tried to get Charles on your show back in 2009 but he didn't pass muster. I suspect that he was a little incoherent for radio by then. I was by no means a friend or pal, but just someone who had a lifelong fascination with his case and sent him a letter one day. I got a nice reply and bought his book, which he autographed. I did find the location of the incident one weekend, using photographs and coordinate descriptions. It's all covered up now with what I think is some type of warehouse, but the pier area was still there. It gave me chills even after all these years, because I believe they were both involved in one hell of an encounter.

So, my question is, any chance of pulling an interview out of any of their family members, at least those that may want to talk? I'd hate to see this one fade away.

I favour the idea of the thorough investigation of singular famous cases such as Pascagoula (one of my big faves too) where everyone invited to the table has all their ducks in a row and they have different perspectives or theories to offer, to try and get a little closer to identifying the credibility factor of that specific incident.

I'm all Rendlehsam'd & Roswell'd out and would like to see these other cases, as we heard about Soccro recently, given more critical & detailed examination. I woukd like to see use of existing audio interviews (faded discs) of the original witnesses (again Pascagoula is available) etc. to provide a more rich and accurate tapestry of these incidents with expert commentary from believers and doubters alike.

I would like to see some more debates:
  • Kevin Randle vs. Stanton Friedman on MJ-12
  • George Knapp vs. Stanton Friedman (or others who've researched his case) on Bob Lazar
  • Bill Birnes vs. someone on the Day After Roswell
  • Linda Moulton Howe vs. Chris O'Brien on cattle mutilations
  • ETH vs. non-ETH representatives
  • Abductions are real and widespread vs. Abductions are mostly psychological representatives
  • Roswell -- ET's or test aircraft?
  • Richard Dolan vs. Jerome Clark on extent of government knowledge of UFOs
I am sure it would be difficult to get most of these set up, but they would be very informative as we would be able to see different sides of an issue from their major proponents.

Some good ideas. But Linda Moulton Howe is not very likely. She's had her chance.

Bill Birnes will be back, so we'll consider the possibilities for a debate.

But MJ-12 is, to me, old news.
