I don't claim to know anything about climate change but I do wonder about the idea that the Earth goes through natural phases of heating and cooling over long periods of time, in human terms.
What caused the last ice age to come to an end? Supposedly 15,000 years ago most of Europe was under ice but something caused all that to melt until we have pretty much the picture we do now, we have the arctic that is permanently cold and seasonal freezing of the sea up there.

I know the climate change lobby are claiming a correlation between increasing pollution and increasing temps so I suppose my question would be: Is it at all possible that a warming climate right now is just coinciding with the pollution levels just as a matter of coincidence?

(I haven't researched much at all on this and am very much sitting on the fence)

we are barely out of The Little Ice Age (1300 - 1870) that Angelo's "scientists" tried to eliminate from their data. warming and cooling, often times to what humans consider extreme are normal behaviors for a planet such as ours. If we didn't have extremes I would be concerned. Ocean currents and solar activity are most likely major causes for global temp variations. Other natural occurrences such as volcanic activity and astroid strikes also play a major factor.

Without past climate changes we would not have the life forms that exist today such as polar bears, penguins, humans, etc etc... climate change spawns diversity and evolution of species. Climate change is good despite what your politicians tell you.

Angelos "science" changes depending on which way the wind blows so to speak. First it was global cooling, then global warming, then climate change and now, to cover all bases it is called "global climate disruption".

(WASHINGTON) — A new study looking at 11,000 years of climate temperatures shows the world in the middle of a dramatic U-turn, lurching from near-record cooling to a heat spike.

Research released Thursday in the journal Science uses fossils of tiny marine organisms to reconstruct global temperatures back to the end of the last ice age. It shows how the globe for several thousands of years was cooling until an unprecedented reversal in the 20th century.

Scientists say it is further evidence that modern-day global warming isn’t natural, but the result of rising carbon dioxide emissions that have rapidly grown since the Industrial Revolution began roughly 250 years ago.

The study shows the recent heat spike “has no precedent as far back as we can go with any confidence, 11,000 years arguably,” said Pennsylvania State University professor Michael Mann, who wrote the original hockey stick study but wasn’t part of this research. He said scientists may have to go back 125,000 years to find warmer temperatures potentially rivaling today’s.

However, another outside scientist, Jeff Severinghaus of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography thinks temperatures may have changed even more dramatically 12,000 years ago, at least in Greenland, based on research by some of his colleagues.
Several outside scientists praised the methods Marcott used, but said it might be a bit too oriented toward the Northern Hemisphere.

Marcott said the general downward trend of temperatures that reversed 100 years ago seemed to indicate the Earth was heading either toward another ice age or little ice age from about 1550 to 1850. Or it was continuing to cool naturally until greenhouse gases from the burning of fossil fuels changed everything.

To be fair in MI our last two winters have been an absolute joke. Lots of days in the 30s and low 40s with a few 50s. Nothing like the bluster we're used to getting. I remember as a kid living in awful winters and Im only about 25 so it wasnt that long ago.

I think if you believe in GW or not environmentalism is still a good cause. Even if we leave only a small carbon print shouldnt we try to make it less?

I believe in global warming, global cooling, ice ages, etc etc. I do not believe for one minute that human caused CO2 has anything to do with it. btw- you are a carbon based, CO2 spewing human. Serious question, would you consider eliminating yourself or family to reduce your "carbon footprint"?... I didn't think so. You have been brainwashed that humans are evil when in fact we have every right to be here and are no more evil than any other life form on this planet.

i've been meaning to point out for some time now...as if i had to...that for all our hand wringing about whether calling it global warming or climate change, or how much or how little humans have had a say or an effect on it, or if it's getting warmer or not there was another inconvient truth that gore MAY have passed over. i say may because i never saw the movie. and that is this. With the polar icecap seemingly approaching meltdown ala fukashima, where we may see indiginous peoples and arctic wildlife being forced to adapt or die, many others, others with money and power see more money to be made. Not only are the oil and gas companies interested in the easier access, but you also have mining comapnies after potential minerals and pharmacuetical companies vying to see what potential drugs lay beneath the permafrost. Let's not forget all the major shipping companies that are drooling at the full time opening of the arctic for year round shipping. One need look no furthur than the fact that countries like that of china , india, south korea and japan either asking for or achieving observer status on the arctic council. they want in. There is just too much money to be had and/or made at having an ice free arctic. So i'm not completely sure what that means with all that colder water flowing south into the current ocean cycles but whatever models the scientists have come up, one better heed them because i'll bet that even if the earth climatically or enviornmentally did something to mitigate this melting the powers that be will not be denied. They are so close that i suspect that if there was an immediate ending to melting (or is it receeding or maybe retreating ??) icecaps man would geoengineer it the rest of the way.

warmer climate is good

Well thank you Pixel, that's mighty insulting to call me brainwashed but that's fine. To answer your question of course I want to kill myself to save my carbon print but Ive been waiting for a special occasion ;-) Im sure nobody would willingly kill themselves to save carbon but then why is it bad for me to use alternative energy if it saves me money, adds value to my home and uses less carbon? The difference between medicine and poison is the dose. Even if our input to warming is minimal, which I cant imagine it is, why shouldnt we try to make less? Why does everything need to be more when there are other options?
