COVID was not 'severe in magnitude' - it had a readily available and inexpensive medicine on the shelves - we didn't even need a vaccine. He knew it and squashed it so that the vaccine - which is what he was about - could be rolled out unhindered. Its a huge scandal. No one individual should have had an ability to issue such mandates - not in the US. Against all our norms.
Again,
@Burnt State - are you reading or watching
anything regarding the issues being raised by what Fauci was reporting in his diary?
One particular glaring item: people were forbidden 'to gather' even in their houses yet Fauci was privately 'gathering' all the time, having social engagements etc.
Fauci did not allow people to 'congregate' in churches, yet 'congregating in the streets'
to riot was totally fine. But sitting alone on the beach next to no one within a half mile could be policed with Fauci's blessings. Insanity. Strange authoritarian vibes.
It was a decidedly weird time which must never be repeated. At least here in the US. Maybe you're okay with it being repeated in Canada but not here in the US. Fauci abused his power. It's clear we can never allow a single individual to wield such unitary medical power over the population again,
precisely because the science and facts are always fluid.
What took place during Covid was chilling - people were driven into fear so profound they betrayed family, even spouses. The below quote from Hannah Arendt is relevant - the population of the West had been prepared for 'terror' with all the gender/pronoun nonsense preceding the 'pandemic', where a human being can be battered into saying (if not quite believing) that a man can bear a child and a woman cannot be defined and men should be addressed as she if asked and a woman as he - that the castrating of children is morally defensible. Pure insanity. A psyops of massive proportions. And it's rooted in believing 'the experts'. That the commissar (authority) will tell us what is true, what to think - the 'peer reviewed' papers. Marxist thought right down to the nub. Nothing to do with free-thinking science.
"Where True and False Stop Mattering — total power doesn't just want obedience. It wants the inside. Its ideal subject isn't the fanatic, but the person for whom the line between fact and fiction has dissolved. You don't need people to believe the lie. Only to stop believing anything at all."
Hannah Arendt: "Ordinary tyranny wants your obedience. It silences you, it frightens you, but it leaves your inner world more or less intact - you may think what you like, so long as you keep quiet. Total domination wants more than that. It wants the inside. It runs on two engines: terror, which isolates every person until no one will act with anyone else - and an ideology, a single idea that claims to explain all of history, past and future with airtight logic, so that no fact can ever contradict it.
"And here is the most important sentence I can give you: The ideal subject of such a regime is not the fanatic - not the true believer who burns with conviction. It is the person for whom the difference between fact and fiction, between true and false, has simply stopped existing. The one who no longer trusts with their own eyes what they saw over what they have been told. Once enough people reach that state anything becomes possible, because there is no longer any solid ground from which to say: that is a lie. You do not have to make people believe the lie, you only have to wear them down until they no longer believe anything at all. Exhaustion, not conviction, is the goal.
"So let me name the soil all of this grows in. One word: Loneliness. And I mean something exact by it - not solitude, which is being alone with yourself and your own own thinking, a thing every good mind needs. Loneliness is the opposite. It is being deserted by everyone, including, finally, yourself - cut off so complete;y that you lose the inner companion that thinking provides. Terror needs that condition. It cannot rule people who are still genuinely connected to one another, who still act together. So its first task is always to drive them apart, until each person stands alone and therefore powerless."
