Christian Agnostic!

I have on occassion called myself a Christian Agnostic. Believe me it didn't impress either Christians or agnostics I stumbled across this interview and wanted to post it because this guy calls himself a Christian Atheist and I really, really can relate.

Christian Agnostic just seems to work for me. I found the interview to be interesting. I don't really search for the "truth" for any outside source be they religous or "secular" these days. But, I do enjoy a healthy "civil" dialog on the esoteric, religon, politics and classic rock. I can hold my own with Stephen King novels, baseball and college football.

I carefully skimmed the interview and enjoyed it. I appreciate anybody who isn't overtly dogmatic about their faith (or lack thereof), and who can discuss contradictions and problems within it. It's the same for politics, too. I'm pretty liberal myself (registered independent), but I very much appreciate when Pat Buchanan vehemently disagrees with his party of choice, or Dennis Kucinich stands for his principles against his party, his president and his constituents. More than anything in religion and politics I dislike a sheep/partisan/hive mentality. And yes, I'm guilty of it myself from time to time, but we all make mistakes… (too bad I manage to make some every damn day . In short, thanks for the link!

I started Under the Dome last night.

Any good so far? I read everything he'd written up to Tommyknockers in 1986-1989, but got stuck with that one and never got back into the flow of his books since. I've revisited the old ones, but I haven't finished a single post 1989 book of his.

The first few pages start of really well. I've heard this book compared to the Stand and It. My only issue with the book so far is that it's a GIANT hardcover. No way I'm taking it on the train, which is what the Carl Sagan book I mentioned in another thread is for.

Well, as a King "Constant Reader" I wouldn't put it in the same class as the Stand or Salems Lot or even Misery. But, it is a very good and entertaining read. Stevie can't help it he's just an unrepentant liberal (I'm a little left of center but not a true believer.) This book is brought down just a little by his conservative sterotypes. But, all in all a good entertaining story. I read it very quickly and had fun with it.

Buh the bye his daugther is a minister in the Unitarian Church. I reccommend Desperation both for the read and the way he handles the question (although in a fictional story) of God. I have started the Dark Tower series (again) I re-read it every ten years or so. Now that he's finished it I may just read the last three this time. 8)

You know that a movie and TV deal has been optioned for the Dark Tower. I enjoyed that series very much.

I'm "skeptical" they can pull it off. But, I'll be there if it happens. My wife is a trkie (is that how they spell it?) But also a Lord of the Rings fan. She says the Peter Jackson movies are masterpieces. So, maybe the Dark Tower will get the same kind of treatement and talent. That would be great.

I saw the movies myself but have't read Lord of the Rings. I'm not a fantasy fan but I do like Sci fi movies.

Ron Howard? Well, that's interesting. I can't decide if he will do a good job or a piece of hollywood fluff. If they give him a budget I think he can pull it off. Have to be a damn big budget. I would imagine at least a three movie arc.
