I have heard of a phantom police officer having been sighted on London's Embankment- usually in the early hours of the morning, though only in mid-winter- wearing what could possibly be classd as a classic 1920's/30's uniform. Anyone else know of this encounter?

I happen to have resided in Hampton, S.W. London, and have been told of a similar vehicular siting of a 1940's fire-engine, passing by the old London Metropolitan Waterworks at night, only to disappear into thin air. What is very interesting is that there is apparantly no engine tones...
