Western Provinces of Canada Separate?

Free episodes:

Two of my favorite China vloggers are SerpentZA and Laowhy86 - I've been watching them for ten-plus years since they both were living in China. They are married to Chinese wives and now live in the US. They do 'The China Show' on YouTube and may be an 'acquired taste' ;) but their once a week show on Fridays is about 2-3 hours of fascinating insights into Chinese culture, society and current events. Recently they did a short half hour video on the China/Canadian deal regarding EVs. Always interesting to read the comments. I present here FYI.

"Canada is allowing China to steamroll them and it needs to stop!"

Some legitimate concerns there that I know are true. I'm just saying that we need to be careful not to paint all Asians with the same brush because their governments don't align with ours. Personally, I judge my friendships one person at a time — as individuals — regardless of their race.

NOTE: To do single posts responding to different comments, it helps to be on a desktop system, because it's easier to cut and paste that way — and if necessary, to select the "Toggle BB code" formatting option in the menu, copy or cut the relevant sections, and paste them where you want. A little practice is all it takes. However if you're using a mobile device — while it would still be possible, I wouldn't bother.
Not sure where you are getting that I was talking about 'Asians'. ??? Puzzling where you got that.

Thank you for the repeat instructions but I am hopeless. Too old to figure it out at this point methinks. ;)

What do you guys think of this? Is this true? Real? Cause for concern"

"Canada just imported LNG from Australia. 25,000 km across the ocean. But 4,000 km from Alberta is somehow impossible.
This isn’t a resource problem. It’s a Canada problem. If Canada won’t develop Alberta’s energy, why should Alberta stay in Canada?"

Just more Big Energy propaganda — and don't forget that the most effective propaganda contains an element of truth.
The clue here is in the framing. It basically says, Leave because it's in the interest of Big Energy to do so.
Frame it differently, and there are other better options that don't include Alberta separation.

Randall, just always saying it's propaganda is useless. Engage the ideas so one can be informed not just dismissed. Thank you.

I have provided reasons backed by data in earlier posts. ( Example here )
And propaganda is an actual thing. By now it should be obvious with slogans like "Take Back Alberta" and "Stay Free Alberta" along with their group's various claims, including ( according to Google AI ) . . .

  • Exaggerated Economic Grievances: Claims that Alberta receives far less than its fair share of federal transfers, or that it is uniquely treated worse by the federal government than other provinces.
  • Conspiracy Theories and Far-Right Ideologies: The integration of racist, anti-immigrant, and "great replacement" conspiracy theories into the movement.
  • Astroturfing and Foreign Interference: Evidence suggests some influencers promoting separation are not actually based in Alberta, with potential foreign actors exploiting existing grievances to boost polarization.
  • Echo Chamber Narratives: Reliance on alternative news sources rather than traditional media, which can reinforce false information and create an echo chamber effect.
  • Misrepresentation of Cultural Values: Arguments that Alberta's culture is solely defined by traditional values, which some say does not represent the entire province.
  • The "Fair Deal" Argument: The often-repeated narrative that federal climate change policies are explicitly designed to destroy the province's oil industry.
And there's more, but don't expect me to write a whole essay about it on top of what I've already posted previously. If you have some particular points you'd like to delve into — let's take them one at a time. Take your pick.

BTW: It's not like there's no propaganda on the other side of the barricades either. I just watched an MSM interview with a so-called misinformation specialist who was himself a purveyor of MSM misinformation during ( the forbidden topic ), so it's not like I want to dignify him by giving what he says any credibility — even though it supports my current position. Here's something else instead . . .

Yes, Danielle Smith is a separatist | Alberta’s grievances aren’t actually reasonable

NOTE: The two links above are by the farther out there opposing side. I don't necessarily agree with everything in them, or endorse the idea that Smith is a separatist. She has been on that side of the barricades in the past though. So I don't dismiss the idea that she's mainly politicking when she says she's for a sovereign Alberta within Canadian Confederation. I think it likely that she's playing both sides so that whichever way things go, she can stay in the game.

The separation news is making it to front tier influencers in the states. Not only Alberta, now Quebec.

"In Quebec, a notable shift is occurring among younger voters, with support for provincial independence rising significantly. Recent polls show that 56% of Quebecers aged 18 to 34 advocate for sovereignty, reflecting a generational change in attitudes and a growing sentiment that Ottawa does not represent their cultural identity or interests, setting the stage for potential political upheaval."

Support for Alberta Secession SURGES!!!

The governor general in Canada is entirely ceremonial in terms of having a role or any power. They sit in the background, drink a lot of tea and focus on social issues that they'd like to champion. They are rarely in the news except when they get appointed and dismissed. Almost everything they do is at the behest of the Prime Minister and their only real significant power is to dismiss a prime minister who won't leave even after they've lost a confidence vote. They are Canada's rubber stump to be used as per the command of the people of Canada through who they voted for.

From what I've seen a lot of the Alberta secession video stuff is all conspiratorial, biased propaganda, and rarely a balanced or true news analysis of facts. A lot of fear mongering tactics are used to bolster opinions that have no basis in reality.

So much of supposed news online is really just scam/fake material to generate hits and make money by trying to explode contentious political issues that prey on people's fears or lean heavily into their political sensibilities.

The Alberta Secession movement has already shot itself in the foot by illegally posting the private information of millions of voters and dragged the Premier's office into it who failed to report it to the RCMP. There will be hell to pay for that ridiculous move.

That's the point - when Carney announced the new Governor General he enumerated the powers of the office, and it's not ceremonial by Carney's reckoning. (And is why some view the appointment as a set-up for some significant actions coming). Most commentators I've listened to all express surprise that someone so qualified as Arbour has been put in this 'ceremonial tea-and-crumpets' position, wondering if the role may not be used quite so ceremonially anymore.

Carney stressed also that the Crown's power is threaded through the Canadian government: "The Governor General of Canada serves as the Commander-in-Chief of the Canadian Armed Forces, exercising command and control over the military on behalf of the monarch." etc. Something's up.

Did you listen to this video? The discussants are making a case for why Carney enumerated the GG's powers, particularly the GG's military powers and control. They are suggesting this is a set-up for some changes ahead - anticipating votes for secession and planned reaction.

Listen to the video - it is legit political commentary with heavy hitters, one a former second in command at NATO.

This is not one of those videos. Much of what they are saying may go over your head (See Timestamps) because they are commenting at a meta level regarding the global conflict currently underway between the globalists and the sovereigntists. You'd have to have been following that to understand the thread of their arguments (what the City of London is all about etc.).

They do say that most Canadians are clueless regarding what Carney is setting into motion.

If you don't listen to the video your commentary comes off wonky and definitely misleading. You're jousting with ghosts in your head.

A lot of fear mongering tactics are used to bolster opinions that have no basis in reality.
Agree with you there but I would offer this is not one of them. Listen to the video to get a more informed opinion.

There is a significant realignment of the world taking place that needs to be understood for a lot of what Carney is doing to be seen in context.

"As President Trump prepares to travel to China, this episode argues that Putin’s remarks about Russia’s 'partners and friends' (China, India, and the U.S.) reveal a shifting global alignment that alarms the Obama–Soros network.

"It examines the Global Progress Action Summit in Toronto, where Barack Obama appeared and the Center for American Progress leaders, including Neera Tanden and Patrick Gaspard, framed Trump’s presidency as an 'interregnum' and promoted Mark Carney’s 'Principled Pragmatism', described as preserving globalist structures while rebranding to address public backlash.

"The script contrasts this with what it calls a 'new strategic map' driven by Trump, Putin, and Xi, highlighted by Victory Day context, an announced Russia–China energy deal, and Trump’s proclamations.

"It concludes that Democrats seek midterm gains but face setbacks from redistricting rulings, prompting renewed efforts to win back working-class voters."
