The Invaders... and other programmes I'd like to be brought back....

Does anyone know what the outcome of The Invaders was? Did David Vincent ever get to the end of his mission? I used to watch this show when they broadcast it on Channel4 some years ago, but it was always on a Sunday morning and I was living in a house with 3 other guys and a girl so the video recorder - showing my age here - was usually booked up or we were just too hung over to remember it was on...
In addition I'd like to see the follow brought back a la Battlestar Galactica:

UFO - Space 1999 - Blakes 7 - Starfleet - Battle Of The Planets - Space: Above & Beyond... I'm getting all misty eyed for my childhood days......

I don't think it ever had a proper ending, but I think that's just fine since any time there is an 'ending' to these shows, it sucks. Except for The Sopranos (which I didn't watch, but I almost want to just to get to the ending). Wait, I think "Space: Above & Beyond" had a great ending.

Here's the synopsis of the final episode on David Vincent's journey: Inquisition (1968) - Synopsis

I watched "The Invaders" when it was first on (didn't see any re-runs) but I can't remember for sure how it ends. I think David Vincent was supposed to testify before a congressional committee about the alien invasion though.

edit: Just read the synopsis J.T. posted but it didn't ring any bells at all. So it's possible I never saw the ending.

Not quite off topic but Ray Thinnnnnnnes was in The X-Files a few times from series 7 I think ... and he was really really good. I was never a fan of The Invaders since it was one of those tv series that was like The Incredible Hulk or The Fugitive. One of those ones where the hero travels from town to town to town to town to town to town ... and it gets really boring really quickly. But, anyway, its a pity Ray Thinnes wasn't a bigger star since as I said he was pretty damned cool in the X-Files (oh and he played an charismatic alien with the power to heal).

A movie based on the Gerry Anderson's UFO is in production now. My biggest question on it is whether or not the Moonbase chicks will have those cool wigs.
God I loved Lt. Ellis!

Years ago UFO and The Prisoner used to come on PBS on Saturday afternoons and they had my full attention then.
Other shows I miss are The Six Million Dollar Man, the second season of Buck Rogers (when Aaron Grey loosened up a bit)
, Project UFO (only a few episodes, but to a 12 year old it was cool), ...but I really miss In Search Of, I LOVED that show. Every Friday night at 7:30 I'd be planted in front of the TV and learn about some new mystery, it was great!

Was Project UFO the thing where the US airforce investigated UFOs? I remember seeing a few episodes of that on kids TV here in the early 80s and really liking it, will have to look on the net to see if it's available anywhere. Space 1999 was another favourite, it was usually shown daytime during the school holidays.

Yes. It was based loosely on Project Blue Book, was one of Jack Webb's (of "Dragnet" and "Adam-12" fame) last projects (if not the last) and it usually featured one special-effects-heavy UFO scene in each episode. This was about the time that movie F/X were just starting to appear on TV, after Star Wars and Close Encounters. I believe it lasted two seasons; there was a cast change between the two seasons. Generally speaking it took a skeptical tone and tried to find conventional explanations, with occasional final scenes which were intended to imply that something alien was going on.

That's the one! I've a vivid memory of one scene with a saucer occupant who's mouth morphed while it's voice changed, creeped me out when I was a kid.

I have The Invaders first and second season DVD sets. I have one more episode in the second season to go and I have thoroughly enjoyed it along with its special features. I really think Roy Thinnes would make an excellent guest on the Paracast. He has many UFO conference and related type stories to tell and has a unique perspective to share.

The Invaders should not be underestimated and in a world of overused CGI special effects its a treasure. The special effects were artfully done for the time and generally hold up very well. I recommend this series to anyone who likes "flying saucers" and paranoia driven stories in general. Oh, and it has a long list of A-list guest stars.

An old one from the 70's : "Space 1999" :-) I still remember the actress "Barbral Bain." Not a traditional knock out but a cool well sculpted blonde. I thought the producers wasted her in this. In my youth I would watch this with hormones raging just waiting for an action shot with her. Hardly ever happened. Just one rival space babe catfight or a low cut off the shoulder outfit or something. :-) Oh well, there have been many actresses (James Bond anyone?) who were wasted as nothing more than eye candy and background.

I wish they would bring back The X-Files with Jillian anderson and David Duchovney. I heard on a local radio show a couple months back or so, that V would not return, which I think is crap, because I think V was doing pretty good, I liked it.

I think they owe us X philes another movie. They simply and completely mucked up the last one. My wife liked V but I didn't watch. I thought it would just be a bad remake of the old series. But, I hear it wasn't bad.

that last one wasn't the worse film I've seen but got the feeling they were contractually obliged to make it. They should have one set next to a beach, just so we can get to see Gillian Anderson swimming around in a bikini, maybe with Nicole Kidman.. yes that would make for a great film.. heck do away with everything else just those two .......... sorry went off track there.... I'd like to see Alan Moore write an X Files or maybe Frank Miller....
