Really intense 911 documentary

Nothin' to see here
So in Australia last night on channel 10 there was a 911 documentary that was without a doubt one of the most intense things Ive ever seen. Did anyone in Australia see this? I was almost brought to tears on occasion, espcially when loved ones feared dead turn up back at home base (and thats saying a lot as I NEVER get emotional like that from media).

I had no idea this thing even existed. I was by 2 French film-makers who were doing a doco on a rookie who had just joined the NYFD. The beginning of the is basically following this guy and other fire fighters around while watching them rehearse drills.

Anyway the camera was rolling as the attack took place. They guys were down town looking at a gas leak in the street when you hear the first place scream overhead and see one of the fire fighters look up.... the camera then follows the sound and you see the plane hit. Fortunately they didnt dwell on this vision as it was just unbelievable.

The rest of the film is basically following this fire department as the day goes from bad to horrific. The crew and a few of the firemen were in the lobby of building 1 as the south building came down, blanketing the roof of the lobby in debris and throwing them into pitch blackness.

Its not an easy documentary to watch but I recommend everyone check it out. I probably wouldnt watch it again but it gave me a more accurate sense of what happened that day, and that those fire guys are truly, truly heroic.

As far as I could tell its just call "911" and its done by 2 French guys.

Check this stuff... if you haven't already, it's excellent:

House of Saud

"Saudi Arabia—one of the United States' most important allies for more than sixty years—is home to vast oil fields and a wealthy, often extravagant, monarchy. It is also home to fifteen of the nineteen terrorists responsible for the attacks of September 11, 2001...Until 9/11, most Americans paid little attention to how the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was run. But in the aftermath of the attacks, America awoke to some difficult truths about its longtime ally: for decades, Saudi wealth and charities supported individuals and organizations dedicated to doing America harm, and its universities and religious schools—known as madrassas—prepared countless young men for jihad against the West."

"The House of Saud has controlled every aspect of Saudi life and politics since the kingdom was established in 1932. But outside the Desert Kingdom, little is known about Saudi Arabia's secretive royal family. In "House of Saud," Frontline explores how the Al Saud family maintains its hold on power in the face of growing tensions between Islam and modernity. Through interviews with members of the royal family, government officials and other experts from Saudi Arabia and the U.S., the two-hour documentary also traces America's relations with the Saudi royal family from their first alliance in the 1930s through Sept. 11 and beyond to the present day."

I don't know if I've seen the full documentary or not, but I've seen a lot of the footage that those guys shot, and it was startling. It's still just so shocking to watch how it unfolded, even after all this time.

Yep. Truly surreal, but valuable in communicating the reality of the horror of that day. (for those of us no where near NY)

I think I saw it a long time ago. Some of what you described matches the description of what I saw. It's probably on You Tube. Recall the name of it?

The show I saw edited out the gruesome stuff. The camera man got some horrific stuff I hear.

Ever see the guy on the telephone vid? The collapse occurs while he's talking? Pretty chilling.

Haven't seen this one but I watched another 9/11 documentary yesterday on the History channel which was absolutely stunning. It basically consisted of clips that people took from their camcorders and the news teams. You basically get a firsthand experience of what it was like being there.

Yes i saw this documentary it is one of the best out there on "911".It really captured the day that nobody expected .Security analysts probably enviged something like this was possible, but i dont think they really thought it would happen, how wrong they were proven to be.
