Paranormal Novice
i say this as Gene is continuing to produce and promote a truly Great Podcast/radio show.He has had to deal with the departure of his bookend David, but has carried on. We have read and even speculted about Davids departure.Yes i miss a man i will never meet and only heard on a monday morn as i downloaded new podcasts but both Gene and David give/gave us a voice to listen to...a commonality. These are People who talk and posse better questions than most "experts" David is gone for now, if ever we or i could help in anyway i would gladly, but we should turn to Gene now. Please ask yourselves....."who would we listen to if he switched off for the last time? we are all upset at David going but stop and think of both Gene and what we would do without even him.
i have read some crass comments about the nature of Davids departure. Can each of us look in the mirror and say we have never had a tough time, needed to get away? he has and i hope as a man and person he finds his peace. i however also think the engine that is left running the show needs ALL OUR SUPPORT! 2 great men who have provided me with 2 hrs of entertainment here in Scotland when no others can/could.1 great man left the race........the other is still running it with us. Onwards and upwards Gene.

Yeah, I was going to post something similar. David talked more and is very articulate, so he got most of the attention, but if you go back and listen to old shows, Gene is definitely an active and intelligent participant. He brings a lot to the table that is worth hearing. Sure, some of his jokes are lame, but let he who has never told a lame joke cast the first stone. And the guest host concept, especially the way the guest hosts are matched up with the guests, is working very well. Finally, a word about production values. They are the best out there where paranormal podcasts are concerned. Even something so "obvious" as matching audio levels between hosts and guests takes a lot of effort. I know because I have used an audio editor and tried to "fix" other podcasts to try to make them listenable. (Audiomartini, I am looking right at you!) Be careful about calling it "two hours of entertainment," though! Some of our community are not happy about the UFO field becoming "entertainment."

I like Gene. I would consider him a friend if I ever met him, which means I'm friends with Bill Birnes, too.

*insert sappy smile here*

Marmer, I couldn't agree more, I'm an audio engineer, Gene does a GREAT job producing the paracast. The levels, EQ, even the Ad inserts are smooth. A lot more to goes into producing a quality podcast than most people can imagine.

I'm a fan boy for both Gene and Dave. The Paracast is setting a new standard for all podcasts. In the old rustbeat mediums of TV, radio and newspapers (I think that is what they were called) control was in the hands of the owners. The beautiful thing about this medium is interaction of the listens. This may be uncomfortable for those producing and hosting the shows. Chat rooms, forums and emails can hold their feet to the fire, but in the end I feel it makes for a much better product. In the old mediums responses to the programing could just be ignored, now it can't. Today we need to take the good, the bad and the down right stupid in one mouth full. It's a better experiance for us the listener/participants in the shows.

Keith (Do they make a Cialis that puts away its own laundry and stops talking on the phone to its mom? Because I would prescribe to that.)

Sure I find Gene a little corny and disagree with his politics, but above and beyond all that we have to give him our support. He is the rock upon which the best paranormal media available today is built. I thank you Gene for the great job you are doing. Keep it up and don't hesitate to ask for our (your listeners) support.

After asking for help due to my personal financial emergency, I am reluctant, even though it is not fully resolved.

Gene despite your financial help, people still would be more than willing to help. I myself may not be able to help directly with finances for you, and I am sure there are others out there in the same boat as me, but are still willing to help a respectable podcast and a respectable guy!

Yes we are all gonna miss David's rationality and intellectual comments and funny voices coming through our speakers, but that doesn't mean that the Paracast cant still be a great podcast. That is what we all want, the Paracast to be the best darn podcast it can be... A podcast that takes the mystery out of the paranormal and replaces it with logic.

Hopefully David will still be a listener of "The Paracast" during his own personal time.

Although it would be interesting if he submitted questions to Gene on a particular show's guest that pique's his intellectual curiosity. Which we've come to respect and be intrigued by as a cornerstone of the show that will be missed.

As David's star sunsets i'm sure at a future point years from now. It may sunrise once more during better times for all.

Gene, allow me to gladly jump in the compliment wagon.

You are an extraordinary radio host. I once mentioned this on my Twitter, saying that every time @theparacast tweeted something, the text sounded in my head in your distinctive, old-school, classic radio voice - and that's really cool. You really bring professionalism, experience and credibility to a field where these things are desperately scarce. No Bill Birnes advertisement or anything will change that, if you continue doing the good job you've done so far. I'm not taking sides. I like David's style as well, I miss him as a Paracast host and, after listening to what he's been saying on his other show, I believe maybe I see his point, too. It's just not relevant for this thread, I think.

As for asking for our support, both in and off the Paracast, I'm sorry for not being able to help you with your financial emergency. I'm having my own deal of trouble with creditors and I just dodged a very ugly bullet in that sense. It's okay now, all settled and paid, but there will be no Reais available for donation in my account for a while. :)

Keep pushing.

Gene has been in this 'field' a lot longer than David, long time listeners know that (not to put new listeners down here)and appreciate him for his kindness and knowledge concerning this 'odd stuff'.I still enjoy the paracast, the guest hosts have been awesome thus far, thanks to you all.

Yes as a newbie to this forum I have listen to Gene & David for while they both added a spark even though it sometimes caused fireworks within and outside Gene has show himself as man of great character who seeks the truths among the left and right field of strange awareness. Also you should never put all your eggs in one basket and I know Gene would do the same that's just common sense. Open Mind is a healthy heart. :)

Yes respect people the way you would like them to respect you:)

Ja Love,
Blfish

Yes, congats to Gene for keeping up the "Gold Standard" that the Paracast had set. Congrats , too, to Paul Kimball, Christopher O'Brien, Frank Warren and Greg Bishop for maintaining the thought provoking commentary and providing very interesting guests.
I think the Paracast has been given a new lease of life and the future looks very bright indeed.

I've respected Gene since I first heard about him, which was about two days after I got my first Mac.

My admiration has only increased since then.
