Mastermind (or not)?

It's a funny thing, and I'm sure you've all heard this before but,

As I make my way through life on this confused little rock I am nearly every day reminded of just how little I truly understand. It seems the more I find out the less I know.

Here in the UK we have a long running quiz show, though that term seems a bit inappropriate, called Mastermind. There are four contestants each have to answer questions on a special area of interest in the first round and then in the second it's general knowledge. I am not sure if the special interest round subjects are actually chosen by the contestants, or they are given those subjects prior to the show to study.

This show has been running for many years and is regarded as the toughest of it's kind hence the title.
I have never had any desire to apply to get on the show but sometimes I have wondered just what my specialist subject might be.
My interests are quite varied, they include Vintage Guitars, German Tanks of WW2, Antique Furniture and of course the paranormal plus a few other things, but I dont regard myself as expert in any of them. At least not to the level required to enter such a competition.

My question to all my fellow Paracasters is simply what would your specialist subject be?

History, music, geography, literature, architecture, video games, war and weaponry, martial arts, automobiles, industrial heating, properties of gas, survival, pop culture, animals, insects, plants,...

I'll put it like this, I kick a lot of ass at Trivial Pursuit and Jeopardy.

Cheers for that evp,

I have a lot of faith in the common man and I dont really want to take this down a political path, but reading all that only further highlights for me at least, that politicians only ever have their own selfish interests at heart and that the common man and womans basic needs are of no interest to them.

I will leave it there as I can feel another serious rant brewing about what's happened to this country since "SHE" who shall not be named, and I dont like to go to bed angry.

Mark :)

Thanks for that Dusty just a little comment from me & I dont want to sound political like I said just a little comment on your Mastermind thread.

This is sad, but here goes:

The history of Liverpool Football Club from 1980 to the present day.

There. I said it.

Hi mattdeacon your starter for ten on your specialist subject "The history of Liverpool Football Club from 1980 to the present day" without going on line what musical does "You'll Never Walk Alone" come from ?

Hi methshin,

Like you I have a fascination with insects, specifically butterflies.
I used to be in a band with a guy who is most definitely expert in the field of lepidoptera (butterflies and moths). After rehearsing at his enormous house we used to go into his very well decked out study and spend hour after hour setting many different tropical species for display and sometimes for sale. This was always a favourite of mine,

Funnily enough I bumped into him a couple of weeks ago and he said I can come over and give him a hand again. I will definitely take him up on his offer as I found the whole topic deeply absorbing and very relaxing.

Plus we can always break out the guitars again. What could be better.

Yippee, :)

Shit. I don't want to be on Mastermind anymore. Technically though, this is outside my time frame of expertise. However, I will humour you (I've started so I'll finish). I think it was from Starlight Express or Cats. Or as LFC could be referred to as God's team, then maybe Jesus Christ Superstar. Or Carousel.

Top marks 10 out of 10 correct Carousel.
How are you on general knowledge ?<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

If i had to pick one specialist subject above all others and one i had most interest in as hobby. It would be History. Mastermind, i never get on that show. Wish i had the brain power, as some of those contestants but i dont.
