Is there ANY hope for MUFON?

The list of this year's 2011 MUFON Symposium "featured speakers" is an eye-opener. One of the LA MUFON organizers was interested in getting Paul Potter to speak. Potter wrote the informative, well-researched book Gravitational Manipulation of Domed Craft: UFO Propulsion Diagnostics. I gave him Potter's contact information and he began to tell me about this year's potential roster of speakers. As he rattled off the names, I grew more and more disillusioned with each addition. When he got to the name Jim Sparks, I finally lost it. I asked him if he was familiar with Sparks. He admitted he was only peripherally aware of his claims. I told him to listen to the Paracast episode where Sparks was completely unmasked. He promised he would. Well, I guess he is agreeable for MUFON to promote:

Get your tickets now before they are all bought up by the I wanna be a true believer crowd. Unfreakin real!

Time Travel Is a Fact
by Jim Sparks
Time travel is not just a strong possibility but a reality. I can state this because I have retained the full memory of experiences involving extraterrestrial contact in great detail for more than twenty years. I will help to show that time travel is real by breaking down a series of contacts and events that point to the manipulation of time and matter in order for these occurrences to take place. These events include meeting with several human time travelers from within the last 500 years. Case in point, I engaged with a time traveler who was wholly human and had very futuristic technical aid integrated into his brain. This traveler could verbally quote complicated tax codes, at the same time with a pen in each hand writing perfectly in forward and reverse. Extraterrestrials use parallel dimensions as a tool to transport from one point to another, for example from space craft to shore. This form of travel has the ability to distort time and can make one believe that more time has lapsed. What seems like four hours on board a space craft is in actual fact only 20 minutes earth time. The distortion of matter and time is relative to travel and size, and as such, a craft is measured to be approximately 50 feet wide on the outside but inside, the dimensions are extremely larger. I will give some reasons through many experiences how time travel is real through the distortion of matter, space and time itself.

About the author:
I was born November 15th 1954 and raised in Florida where my childhood memories were of a vast unknown filled with strange and interesting creatures, the Everglades. I graduated high school in South Florida, and studied business and real estate both Miami and Houston. I was a successful land developer in North Carolina when my abductions began with non- human intelligent beings since 1988. Initially an unwilling abductee, once I was able to put aside rage, overcome fear and accept that I was encountering some sort of technologically advanced beings my experiences transformed. I have approximately 90 percent conscious awareness of my experiences, giving me clear memories of amazing technology that includes time travel, invisibility, multidimensional aspects of reality, and manipulation of gravity and electro-magnetic fields, as well as information as to why these visitors are here and making their presence known to ordinary people. In the two decades I have been dealing with the ETs, I have seen and experienced amazing technologies that could eliminate our need for fossil fuel by creating free, non- polluting energy. These technologies are not just pipe dreams — they are real, and they have been kept secret from humanity for thousands of years by otherworldly beings. I believe that many of these advanced technologies are now in human hands, but they have been kept from the general public.

MUFON has really become a part of the faux-reality show. They entertain frauds and promote non-critical thinking while simultaneously lamenting that the subject isn't taken seriously by the mainstream media and the scientific community in general. Can anyone be blamed for being skeptical? Can a robust skepticism be seen as anything other than absolutely vital to anyone interested in these subjects that seem to attract so much chicanery?

Doubt, questioning, and a demand for accountability should be the prevailing mindset. Otherwise:
"Not only is there an amazing willingness in the human mind to invest credence and faith in unproven facts, but there is more evil, more readiness than ever on the part of various sophisticated groups, to use this human weakness as a tool in controlling others." Jacques Vallee, Revelations. [NOTE: I do not mean to insinuate that MUFON is a sophisticated group.]

MUFON is n the death throws Chris. Its sad really that in the most of these organizations embody the inane insanity that the general public identifies this field with. Fortunately, it really cant get much worse... unless they start handing out tin foil hats at the door.

Whoever marks a claim on someone, judging them, this is one of the most ignorant things a human being could do, to pass judgment, especially concerning the paranormal, I feel like people who don't like others because they are hoaxsters or don't like their personality, need a reality check, it doesn't matter if they are or not, it doesn't matter if they are credible or give dis-information, as long as ideas are being thrown around, in this un-discovered universe, thats all that matters, keep moving forward and respect your fellow man no matter what, find common ground, no matter what. The very basis behind Mufon is to act as a system for others to play, which in an of itself is ineffectual, because its meant to be played, not actually to do something meaningful to humanity, created merely to exist, find some wisdom in looking past prejudices and borders. How could anyone for one moment pass judgment on someone, when we all are minnows in the vast ocean of mystery, it is akin to suicide, destroying the creative spark that propels our understanding, from diametric opposites. Promotion in an of itself linked to money is commercialism, capitalism, etc its what America personifies, and will exist as long as the system exists, shall we all play against one another within this system, or break past it and work mutually together no matter the outrageous claims we each make for and against one another. Refrain from placing the blindfold of totalitarianism around yourselves, an ideal that limits no personal authority to ourselves, as if we have the right to do anything we want, as if total regulation of ideas is needed... build some character, create some light unto the darkness. Create a light unto yourselves.

I think Chris is referring to the show where D.B. asks about the bathroom on the alien spacecraft. Mr. Sparks was telling the story about receiving training on board, helping other humans, etc., etc. The bathroom question obviously throws him off and he flatly says he can go all day and not use the bathroom. He never used the facilities while on board the ship. During the after show chatter Gene and David decide Jim probably won't be returning to the Paracast. That is how I remember it anyway. I could be hallucinating wildly however so don't take my word for it.

This man is/was actively trying to deceive people into thinking he was 'abducted'. I think it is possible to make such statements after having listened to a person on a radio show, especially that two-part one. Whilst I disagree with many of the guests on the show, most seem to at least believe in their own stories and experiences, as absurd as they may seem sometimes to us listeners.

I'll offer a reading on the phone for 100 bucks a pop for 30 minutes, should you want to know more of the mysteries of the universe, by the way.

Good point Lance, but I think your bs detector is fairly fine tuned and you certainly can see the difference between a Mr.Sparks and Mr. Shapiro, f.e.

You like to get reactions out of people. ;)

I think I understand where Lance is coming from so I will try to explain. For Lance he sees the entire subject matter as fantasy and science fiction and there is no pro UFO researcher with credibility. Therefore, it is hard or impossible for him to pick up on the subtlties in the story. For instance, my son sometimes imagines that he is Sonic the hedgehog and other times that he is a "secret agent" working for the FBI. To him these are different levels of play. To me they are both fantasy and I often can't tell the noises, phraseology, and varios imaginary gadgetry apart. Something which annoys the crap out of him. I think this is similar.Lance, there a ton of red flags with Sparks. One major one is that he nearly always has an "answer". Not a theory or an opinion but a final and distinct answer. Like I would describe how a flash drive works. It is not up for interpretation there is only one way and here it is. You should trust me on this because the folks who invented the flash drive educated me on every aspect of it and from time to time re-educate me on any advances. Hopefully that illustrates my point. In this field specific certainty is almost always a problem. Also, his claims are unique and too detailed. Part of the abduction phenomenons M.O. is the effectual masking of clarity. When suddenly you have a subject that claims to be the chosen one and has such clear and detailed accounts more red flags are thrown up. Then, once you listen to the narrative it becomes clear that his story is absurd nonesense.

No forum, no online database (as per NUFORC). I was also once chastised by a MUFON offical from "on high" for doing volunteer work in an effort to keep a failing chapter from folding. One gets the impression it's all about superficial appearances.

Their field investigator certification may be one of the few bright spots. But how often is it put into practice?

A wide range of witnesses and philosophies is beneficial to ufology in general. But one would think MUFON would choose only the most credible witnesses as speakers for major events. A clue for MUFON: Read what J. Allen Hynek had to say about gauging witness credibility. It's not rocket science! It's Sociology and Psychology 101.

Can MUFON be saved? I have no idea.

I have heard a lot of guests that I thought may have believed their own stories. The recent Crystal Skull guy certainly.
Lance

The crystal skull guy is different in that his story almost certainly didn't start as a lie that he told so many times he started to believe it. The new-age mythos built up around the crystal skulls will almost certainly affect certain types of people in that manner, just like religion does. Suggestibility combined with earnest delusion based on expectations that come from a pre-existing rich mythology are wholly different than making up a bullshit story and wanting it to be true. I obviously can't prove intent, but that bathroom reply sure says a lot in my opinion about where he was coming from.
