Edgar Mitchell was the Lunar Module Pilot for Apollo 14

Aliens have contacted humans several times but governments have hidden the truth for 60 years, the sixth man to walk on the moon has claimed.


Apollo 14 astronaut Dr Edgar Mitchell, said he was aware of many UFO visits to Earth during his career with NASA but each one was covered up.
Dr Mitchell, 77, said during a radio interview that sources at the space agency who had had contact with aliens described the beings as 'little people who look strange to us.'


He said supposedly real-life ET's were similar to the traditional image of a small frame, large eyes and head.


Chillingly, he claimed our technology is 'not nearly as sophisticated' as theirs and "had they been hostile", he warned 'we would be been gone by now'.
Dr Mitchell, along with with Apollo 14 commander Alan Shepard, holds the record for the longest ever moon walk, at nine hours and 17 minutes following their 1971 mission.

I thought that was wonderful and refreshing... just hearing an everyday normal human who's not constantly stuck up "ufology's" ass reacting in a completely natural and enthusiastic manner. Perhaps you should consider de-jade-ification therapy.

Love em, but they ain't got a monopoly on being able to talk to interesting people... I thought the interviewer did a mighty fine job of just being a human talking to such an interesting man, and I really enjoyed every moment of Mr. Mitchell's sharings, both paranormal and non.

This is being heavily discussed on Above Top Secret. Some scoffers there are claiming this is "old news" because he's been saying things like this for years. I don't think that's true--my impression is that the first time he was as specific as this was when he was on Larry King recently and stated that an admiral in the Pentagon had made inquiries to see if there was any group under him investigating the topic. He found out that there was, but was rebuffed when he tried to obtain any further information, being told that he had no "need to know."

I don't think he did more than hint about such a story in the past--and it's important that he's become specific now.

This is a testable assertion. Someone in the MSM could obtain the name of this admiral from Mitchell privately and then get the admiral to confirm or deny if it was true. (He could even have his name withheld, if that's what it would take to get him to give Mitchell a clean bill of heath. (Alas, the reason Mitchell has become specific now may be that the admiral has died. Mitchell mightn't have wanted to put him on the spot while he was still alive.))

Anyway, if I'm right that this is new news, I hope someone here who knows enough about the topic to cite chapter and verse can go to ATS and put it on the record there.

Mitchell has just made a reference to most of his statements that he already made in the last 10 years.

The best that is known about the briefing so far it is that has probably happened arround April 10 1997. The admiral in question is a J2, head of Intelligence for the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Rear Admiral Thomas R. Wilson, U.S. Navy. I think that he was later promoted as a Vice Admiral, and later he was also a head of DIA later.

At the briefing besides Wilson and Mitchell, Steven Greer, late Shari Adamiak, Naval Reserve Commander Willard H. Miller (that is a probably Navy officer that Mitchell has mentioned) and Brigadier General Stephen Lovekin were also present. There were some other persons that are still unidentified.

During the briefing Wilson has allegedly received code names of the Special Access Projects that are dealing with reverse engineering of the UFO technology.

About updates:
I would also recommend excellent Paracast interview with Richard Dolan from July of 2007. where Dolan has emphasized that he was able to get Wilson over the telephone and he received partial confirmation from Wilson directly about the meeting but didn't wanted to confirm other allegations. During the conversation Wilson has become very angry and aborted the conversation. Dolan had his own source that told him that meeting indeed happen.

Hi. The briefing in question has happened in 1997. and that is the same event as you have described and in that way was described by Mitchell. As I said the viceadmiral in question was Thomas R. Wilson, and you can find additional details in Dolan's Paracast interviews and Mitchell's HTV interview from 2007. that I have posted in previous threads.

Leslie Kean has wrote about the briefing long ago back in 2000. and the article was published at the time in french magazine VSD. I was able to get extended version at the time and it was posted then in UFO Updates.

Greer has also mentioned the details in his last book and he is not the only source. Dolan has also mentioned that he had his own source for this briefing. Of course this is still alleged briefing, altough there are few sources in public domain for some time now.

Of course they don't but I'm a bit perplexed by your perception that the interview was such a "mighty fine job": I thought the "pub conversation" style didn't really click well with a character like Dr. Mitchell.
