@Gene Steinberg — The Star Wars universe features several prominent characters who genuinely believed the Galactic Empire or the First Order brought necessary order and security — This is you Gene. It's why you believe ( or maybe believed ) I'm on the "Dark Side".
Fortunately some of them came to realize later that they were serving a cruel regime and subsequently defected:
Notable Imperial Defectors
Alexsandr Kallus (
Star Wars Rebels): An Imperial Security Bureau agent who viewed the Empire as a legitimate force for galactic stability. After becoming stranded with a rebel on a desolate moon and experiencing personal kindness from a Lasat warrior he was taught to hate, his perspective shifted, and he secretly became the rebel informant Fulcrum before openly joining the Rebel Alliance.
Iden Versio (
Star Wars Battlefront II): The commander of the elite Inferno Squad, she fiercely believed she was protecting her home world and citizens through Imperial service. She and her team defected when the Empire initiated Operation: Cinder, realizing the regime intended to ruthlessly punish and destroy its own loyal worlds rather than protect them.
Thane Kyrell (
Lost Stars): An Imperial academy pilot who genuinely believed the Empire would bring an end to corruption and inefficiency. He became entirely disillusioned and defected to the Rebel Alliance after witnessing the horrific, casual destruction of Alderaan.
Finn / FN-2187 (
Sequel Trilogy): Conditioned from childhood to serve the First Order with absolute loyalty, he believed he was part of a righteous military order. His first real exposure to civilian slaughter during a raid on Jakku shattered his conditioning and triggered his immediate defection
@Gene Steinberg — When you come to the same realization, I will be glad to welcome you into the resistance. It's still not too late.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens, portrays the awakening of the
light side of the Force. Specifically, the Cosmic Force stirs within ordinary individuals like
Rey to rise up and counter the mounting threat and dark influence of the First Order and
Kylo Ren.
There are unwitting Dark Side sympathizers here — scared citizens who see the Empire ( The PTB here ) as "doing the right thing" and bought into propagandist marketing slogans like "Safe & Effective" — who see The Resistance ( The Freedom Movement ) as the enemy, and those in it as second-class citizens, unworthy of participating in society — who like you would have seen them put out on the street — jobless and homeless.
If you do nothing else now,
defect. It has nothing to do with being a Democrat or a Republican or any other political party. I have always been on the side of light — and over time have voted for several different parties. Now it's time for you to awaken too.
Note: This is not a Jedi mind trick
