The Mothman and UFO Conspiracies Explored on The Paracast

Special Announcement:
The Paracast is heard Sundays from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM (Central Time) on the GCN radio network.

Here's How You Can Help The Paracast:
Although ads help cover a small part of our expenses, the income they produce is never enough. Also, we do not receive any revenue from the ads placed on the show by our network or local stations. So we hope you're able to help fill the gap if you can to help us cover increasing server costs and other expenses -- or perhaps provide a little extra cash for lunch. No contribution is too small (or too large :). We have a Donate link on our home page, below the logo and audio player. There's also a Donate link on our forums, right below our logo. Or just send your PayPal donation direct to sales (at) theparacast (dot) com.

Attention U.S. Listeners: Help Us Bring The Paracast to Your City!
Last summer, The Paracast joined the GCN radio network. This represented a huge step in bringing our show to a larger, mainstream audience. But we need your help to add additional affiliates to our growing network. Please ask one of your local talk stations if they are interested in carrying The Paracast. Feel free to contact us directly with the names of programming people we might be able to contact on your behalf. We can't do this alone, and if you succeed in convincing your local station to carry the show, we'll reward you with one of our special T-shirts, and other goodies. With your help, The Paracast can grow into one of the most popular paranormal shows on the planet!

You Can Now Order The Official Paracast T-Shirt:
You asked, and we answered. We are now taking orders for The Official Paracast T-Shirt and a collection of other specially customized merchandise. To get your T-Shirt now featuring our brand new logo, just pay a visit to our online store at Welcome to The Official Paracast Store to select your size and place your order. The Rebels of Ufology

To the outsider, UFOs, if real, represent physical aircraft piloted by beings from another planet. The UFO field, such as it is, consists of people who are mostly devoted to advocating that belief system, not to mention the possibility that some people are being abducted by ET.

But when you actually examine the field first hand, you’ll find anything but unity. There are numerous shadings in viewpoints, and some straddle the fence from one of those shadings to another. It’s fair to say that some people believe everything, while others believe nothing.

Moreover, the UFO field has gone through cycles. Yes, the ET explanation has remained the most popular UFO solution when it comes to believers. Even then, the supposed ET interaction with humans may vary. Some talk of contacting alien beings via channeling or other methods that employ the power of the mind. Others speak of ET making physical visits to your bedroom, and carrying you aboard their spacecraft to perform medical experiments and, perhaps, to take sperm samples in order to establish a race of hybrid creatures. But you’d have to worry about such obstacles as generic compatibility, unless we were already related to them in some fashion.

But there are other theories about UFOs that are separate from these. Some people accept the possibility that UFOs are real, but don’t fully buy the ET explanation, partly based on evidence of the presence of UFOs over thousands of years. We don’t see UFOs in space, although there are possible exceptions involving alleged reports from astronauts. But even then, such sightings are largely in our upper atmosphere or in lower orbit. In other words, UFOs are still largely an Earth-based phenomenon.

For the sake of argument, I won’t discuss the so-called alien artifacts that might exist on the Moon or Mars. They could be natural formations. But I’m not suggesting that we are necessarily alone in the universe. As we discover more and more planets in our galaxy, and evidence of water, water everywhere, it’s clear that life may be found even in unlikely places. So, it doesn’t take much of a stretch to imagine civilizations that are far enough advanced to have developed some form of propulsion system that allows for easy travel among the stars.

Is it warp drive, wormholes? It doesn’t matter.

Back to our home world, if UFOs are only seen in and around Earth, does it mean they also come from here? There have been various theories suggesting the presence of secret races of creatures that live in caves, on mountaintops, and maybe even in our oceans. It may seem unlikely, what with constant monitoring of so many regions of our planet by scientists and their measuring gear, that a more advanced race might be able to somehow shield or cloak their true origins. But if they live here, they might even communicate false information to so-called contactees about being from outer space as a form of misdirection.

Other theories have it that UFOs represent beings who come from other dimensions, entire universes that may coexist with our own in the same location but, perhaps, existing on different vibratory frequencies. You might compare this in a very loose fashion to the different channels on your TV set.

Such creatures might come here through window areas, natural or artificial warps in the dimensional barrier that allow them to easily move from one place or reality to another. In TV shows, movies and science fiction novels, you can see all sorts of suggestions as to how these portals or anomalies might present themselves.

Now the possibility that UFOs were something other than extraterrestrial has been widely discussed over the years. Back in the 1960s, UFO and occult researcher Allen H. Greenfield and I wrote material on the subject. Others, such as the late John Keel, soon adopted a so-called 4D answer to UFOs.

But such theories move in cycles. By the 1980s, it appeared that such talk died down, as the ET hypothesis, or ETH, became more and more popular all over again. But when I helped establish The Paracast in 2006, I opted to explore some of those alternative explanations for a new audience.

Whether it’s just a thought experiment, or something that you should take seriously, I don’t know. But it’s far too premature to accept one explanation for UFOs and run with it.

You see, thoughtful rebellion in the UFO field is a good thing. At a time when some writers and researchers prefer to approach the subject with old fashioned yellow journalism methods, rife with lurid headlines, I continue to be optimistic that we can ignore such distractions and make honest efforts to find out what’s really going on.
