Strange Artifacts Around the World Explored on The Paracast

Special Announcement:
The Paracast is heard Sundays from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM (Central Time) on the GCN radio network.

Here's How You Can Help The Paracast:
Although ads help cover a small part of our expenses, the income they produce is never enough. Also, we do not receive any revenue from the ads placed on the show by our network or local stations. So we hope you're able to help fill the gap if you can to help us cover increasing server costs and other expenses -- or perhaps provide a little extra cash for lunch. No contribution is too small (or too large :). We have a Donate link on our home page, below the logo and audio player. There's also a Donate link on our forums, right below our logo. Or just send your PayPal donation direct to sales (at) theparacast (dot) com.

Attention U.S. Listeners: Help Us Bring The Paracast to Your City!
Last summer, The Paracast joined the GCN radio network. This represented a huge step in bringing our show to a larger, mainstream audience. But we need your help to add additional affiliates to our growing network. Please ask one of your local talk stations if they are interested in carrying The Paracast. Feel free to contact us directly with the names of programming people we might be able to contact on your behalf. We can't do this alone, and if you succeed in convincing your local station to carry the show, we'll reward you with one of our special T-shirts, and other goodies. With your help, The Paracast can grow into one of the most popular paranormal shows on the planet!

You Can Now Order The Official Paracast T-Shirt:
You asked, and we answered. We are now taking orders for The Official Paracast T-Shirt and a collection of other specially customized merchandise. To get your T-Shirt now featuring our brand new logo, just pay a visit to our online store at Welcome to The Official Paracast Store to select your size and place your order. We now also offer a lineup of other premium merchandise featuring The Paracast logo.

Listen each week to the great stories of the history of the paranormal field in the 20th and 21st centuries.

This Week's Episode:
Gene and Chris discuss the incredible discoveries of strangely advanced artifacts around the world with Lamont Wood, author of “Out of Place in Time and Space: Inventions, Beliefs, and Artistic Anomalies That Were Impossibly Ahead of Their Time.” Ancient astronauts, advanced civilizations on Earth — what do these amazing objects represent?

UFOs and the Paranormal: Can We Ignore the Connection?

By Gene Steinberg

A large part of the UFO field believes that these things represent visits to our planet by aliens. To them, they are physical craft, well at least physical as we understand the definition of that term.

Certainly the possibilities are obvious. As more and more potentially habitable worlds are discovered in our galaxy, it stands to reason that a fair number may harbor advanced civilizations that have perfected interstellar travel. So whether the voyage takes decades to complete, or they’re using something akin to Star Trek’s “warp drive,” it doesn’t matter. They got here, if you assume that the extraterrestrial hypothesis (or ETH) is correct.

For evidence, some will cite the massive amount of data consisting of eyewitness reports, often from experienced witnesses, such as military and law enforcement personnel, the few photographs that cannot be attributed to fakery, trace evidence, and, of course, simultaneous radar and visual sightings.

Others will point to reports of alleged meetings with entities or beings claiming to be of extraterrestrial origin. Some claim to have been kidnapped (or abducted) and taken aboard spacecraft for medical experimentation, or just to receive some sort of communication from our visitors. Even if the contacts and abductions are real, it doesn’t mean you can believe what the beings tell you. The messages may be cover stories designed to hide their true motives, or we might be filling in the blanks with our subconscious minds. This doesn’t mean they’re necessarily hostile. Perhaps they follow some sort of “prime directive” that demands they tell the local populace as little as possible as to why they’re here.

It also appears to be true that some parts of the world seem to be the source of more frequent reports of anomalous events. It’s almost as if the UFOs have decided to concentrate on specific regions of Earth for their own reasons, but some suggest these are home to dimensional portals, or anomalies, which make it easier to travel from here to there in an instant. Certainly this has been fodder for science fiction stories for many years.

But there are always those flies in the ointment, other types of weird events that seem to occur in areas where UFO sightings are most frequent. In some cases, there are reports of strange creatures, such as bigfoot and other beings, and such apparitions as possible ghosts. Indeed, some witnesses to UFOs will, if you get to know them well and assure them you won’t laugh at their misfortune, cop to experiencing other anomalous encounters.

However, when you speak in a public venue to regular people who don’t care to know the fine details, it’s often best to concentrate on the less sensational reports, such as straight UFO sightings, and let them discover for themselves the rest of the story. That way, they’re more apt to take these things seriously, or perhaps connect these events to offbeat experiences in their own lives, or the lives of their friends and families.

I’ve argued in favor of this politically correct approach before, the need to get one foot in the door first before you allow them to shut that door in your face. If the goal is to convince serious scientists and perhaps even governments to take UFOs seriously, that may be the best approach.

But when you hear about those other events that seem somehow connected, you can’t just ignore them and pretend they didn’t occur. I’ve always maintained that the UFO mystery is, itself, more complicated than we may realize. If it is only one part of our paranormal universe, there is much to learn, and we’ve barely taken the first steps towards understanding what’s going on.

And One More Thing:
Some of you know that The Paracast and your humble hosts have been subjected to some pretty mean personal attacks in recent months. But that’s nothing new. From the very first episode of The Paracast, back in 2006, we’ve been on the hate lists of some people who can’t accept our no-nonsense approach to these subjects. From time to time, I’ve made efforts to reason with these people, but most do not want to be reasoned with. Once they get mistaken ideas in their heads, they just can’t let go. So when you hear of these silly attacks, feel free to let us know about them if you like. Or perhaps it’s best to ignore those clumsy efforts at yellow journalism, but I can imagine what they’ll be saying soon about these comments.
