This Week's Episode: Gene and guest cohost Curt Collins explore the mysteries of time travel with Nick Redfern. Albert Einstein’s theory of relativity postulates, and scientists have proven, that the faster you travel, the slower time moves. Clocks on airplanes, satellites and rockets are slower than clocks on Earth, and time travel is indeed real. Can time machines, time-tunnel wormholes or tales of fictional time-traveling heroes be so far-fetched? Covering the history of time travel in both reality and fiction, Nick Redfern’s Time Travel: The Science and Science Fiction investigates the long history, myths, science and stories of movement from the present to the past and into the future. Nick Redfern is the author of more than 60 books. They include Flying Saucers from the Kremlin; The Roswell UFO Conspiracy; Women in Black; Men in Black;Nessie; Chupacabra Road Trip; The Black Diary; and 365 Days of UFOs.

After The Paracast — Available exclusively for Paracast+ subscribers on November 7: Prolific paranormal author Nick Redfern returns to speak with Gene and special guest cohost Curt Collinsabout the endless possibilities of time travel, as covered in his book, Time Travel; The Science and Science Fiction. He also covers the strange history of the late UFO writer/researcher Gray Barker, whose book, "The Silver Bridge," provided a fascinating alternative look at the Mothman phenomenon. Nick discusses another of his books, Final Events and the Secret Government Group on Demonic UFOs and the Afterlife, and whether the group he identifies as Collins Elite had any influence on the U.S. government's current posture towards the mystery. Nick joined a rock music and fashion magazine, Zero, in 1981, where he trained in journalism, writing, magazine production and photography, later going on to write freelance articles on UFOs during the mid-1980s. He is the author of over 60 books covering UFOs, conspiracies and all sorts of strange mysteries.

The Announcements We Didn’t Expect!
By Gene Steinberg

Most of you do not know who Bill Nelson is, but he was named administrator for NASA under President Joseph Biden. His prior history is in elected office, serving the U.S. Congress in both the House and Senate from Florida.

Now such a position is normally invisible to most people, so why would it have any impact at all? Well, in our little paranormal corner of the world, it’s his statement about his agency’s mission to seek out possible life beyond Earth, and how that dovetails with UFOs.

So in talking about the reports of mysterious aircraft as seen by Navy personnel, Nelson said he believes they “saw something and their radars locked onto it,” according to published reports of his comments.

His key remark: “Who am I to say that planet Earth is the only location of a life form that is civilized and organized like ours?”

That’s not outright belief in the extraterrestrial hypothesis, but it sure comes close. Of course one can argue about how “civilized and organized” we are.

But he’s not the only government person to speak positively about UFOs. Former Presidents Clinton and Obama have talked about the possibility of these encounters being caused by otherworldly craft.

Similar comments have come from former CIA heads John Brennan and James Woolsey. More to the point, Woolsey previously cemented his reputation as a UFO skeptic, so saying he’s open to the possibility of actual ET encounters is quite a change.

All these and other positive comments from present or former government officials have established a new atmosphere when it comes to the UFO mystery. Instead of dismissing the possibility of an otherworldly explanation, or even that the objects are real, they all seem quite ready to accept an offworld origin.

In its otherwise tepid status report, the Pentagon UAP Task Force is not dismissing such a possibility, and that simply buttresses hopes that real progress may come after all these years in figuring to what’s really going on, or ignoring the matter altogether.

Now imagine if all that had occurred back in the 1950s, in the early days of the modern UFO era. While ex-CIA chief Hillenkoetter, the agency’s first head, was positive about their reality after he retired, and even served for a while on the board of his friend, Major Donald Keyhoe’s NICAP group, he was a rare breed. It was usually bad form to say such positive things.

As you know, debunking UFOs was perfectly normal. That approach typified the U.S. government for decades. From talking of Project Mogul balloons and crash test dummies in connection with the 1947 Roswell episode, expecting some sort of disclosure was clearly not in the cards.

In the past couple of decades, disclosure advocates, such as Stephen Bassett, have claimed that the government knows the truth and will reveal it soon. As year after year passed and nothing significant occurred, such hopes and claims fell more and more on deaf ears.

Now that, in public at least, the government appears to be taking the matter seriously, you have to wonder when or if there will be a next step. Will the work of the Task Force just continue to roll along with no significant revelations, or will it eventually announce some sort of movement towards a solution?

I could continue to guess, and I’ve long talked about a “gradual disclosure” process on The Paracast and in these columns. What this means is that, instead of dealing with the potential panic of a sudden announcement that we are being visited by otherworlders, the concept would be revealed gradually over a period of years.

So news reports would appear from time to time about discovering extrasolar planets, orbiting other star systems, which may be capable of supporting life as we know it. Obviously that would be a significant element to consider if we presume that we are being visited by intelligences that somehow resemble humans.

Another step would be the increasing number of positive UFO comments from people in an out of government who held various positions of authority. From former Presidents to ex-CIA directors and other officials, it’s extremely significant that they’d be positive about the concept, and so casual in the way they made their comments.

It’s almost as if there’s been some form of coordination in the way such similar comments have been delivered.

And certainly statements from NASA’s administrator carry some weight, especially since Nelson, as a U.S. Senator, was regarded as a strong advocate for space exploration. So in his retirement years, he occupies an ideal position.

But all these positive developments are based on a single assumption, that we are being visited by ET who come to us in their flying saucers. That’s been the prevailing theory from the early days.

On the other hand, what if there are one or more different solutions?

Certainly, if UFOs are craft of the multiverse, traveling here from parallel realities, that would not present a significant difference as far as the end result. It would mean they are intelligently controlled aircraft from someplace else.

If they are, as some suggest, time travelers, I suppose that wouldn’t seem to make a huge difference either, except that it would have more troubling implications. Would they want it to be known, for example, that they are visitors from our future? I would imagine not, since that would create all sorts of complications.

Then again, if time travel is possible, the implications would be complicated. Does their presence somehow impact the time stream, or is it just the way things are meant to be? Does that explain why some of us have clear memories of key events in our lives or world events that turn out to be dead wrong?

The Mandela Effect?

All fascinating possibilities that are worth discussion, and we cover some of them on the November 7th episode of The Paracast, where prolific paranormal author Nick Redfern discusses his fascinating book, “Time Travel: The Science and Science Fiction.”

But if the multiverse and/or time travel explain UFOs, just how will the Task Force deal with it? Or would they want to?

Wouldn’t it be interesting if suggesting ET is mainly an excuse to conceal a solution that’s far more complex? Or perhaps they can’t conceive of any other solution.
