This Week's Episode: Gene and Chris take a long and hard look at U.S. Presidents, and what they might know about UFOs, with author Grant Cameron. His new book, “The Clinton UFO Storybook; ET Politics in the White House,” is certainly a perfect title for today’s highly charged political environment. What about the promises made by Bill and Hillary Clinton to get to the bottom of the UFO mystery? How did their close aide, John Pedesta, influence their decision to look into the subject? Podesta has a long interest in UFOs, having written the foreward to Leslie Kean’s best-seller, “UFOs: Generals, Pilots and Government Officials Go on the Record.” Cameron will also explore possible whistle blowers, and the prospects that we’ll see UFO disclosure in our lifetimes.

After The Paracast -- Available exclusively to Paracast+ subscribers on July 10: Gene disassembles some of what he regards as questionable statements that Grant Cameron made on The Paracast. He starts with the claim that President Obama made a significant comment about possible UFO secrecy to actor Jaden Smith, son of Will Smith. Gene also reminds listeners that the book by former CIA operative Chase Brandon, which Cameron says was vetted by the CIA, was actually a sci-fi title. Also discussed, the episode involving efforts by the Bush administration to persuade an ailing John Ashcroft, then Attorney General, to sign off on approving warrantless search while he was hospitalized. Cameron claimed it was about a black budget matter. The political talk moves to military cost overruns. Chris responds to the question of how his views on the paranormal may have changed over the past decade.

Yet Another Disclosure Reality Check
By Gene Steinberg
It’s a source of endless fascination to speculate about what government officials, particularly the President of the United States, really know about UFOs. After all, if there is really a “Silence Group,” people who are managing the secret that those flying disks are spaceships from other worlds, what do they tell the leader of the free world?
Or do they say anything at all?
Indeed, when a new President takes office, is he (and maybe it’ll be she when the next White House occupant takes office in 2017) read in on that and other matters that are withheld from the public at large? After all, if this is a secret that has been kept for nearly seven decades — perhaps longer — would a President even have the need to know?
I suppose he or she might, particularly if the time were to come where some sort of public announcement had to be made, or the military was called into service to protect America from potential extraterrestrial invaders. Otherwise, maybe not.
Besides, even if they are read in, isn’t there the ever-present danger that the President might overrule the Silence Group, MJ-12 or whatever, and reveal the truth? Or is that truth so frightening that no sane person would ever disclose it? Could disclosure to the new oval office occupant also include a threat to, perhaps, not forget what happened to President Kennedy, and leave it at that?
Over the years, some Presidents, when running for office, have made promises of one sort or another about looking into the UFO mystery. Think of President Carter and President Clinton as two notable examples. But after being elected to office, those promises were never fulfilled. Then again, how many promises made by politicians are simply ignored once they take the oath of office? I suppose they try to follow through on some of them, though the press of events often changes things in unexpected ways. UFOs? The subject appears to fly off the radar.
There is some hope with Secretary Hillary Clinton. She has granted several interviews in which she promised to get to the bottom of the mystery, unless — and this is a predictable excuse — it is a matter of national security. Of course, if it is, and she said so, that would be a not-tacit admission that we are confronting a real phenomenon with serious consequences. So she might just say nothing, or claim her administration is continuing to look into the matter.
While she has indicated interest in UFOs as far back as the 1990s, during her years as First Lady, a key reason may have been the influence of John Podesta, a long-time aide to the Clintons, and the head of her current campaign. He has been outspoken in requesting a serious investigation of UFOs, and even wrote the foreword to a best-selling book on the subject, Leslie Kean’s “UFOs: Generals, Pilots and Government Officials Go on the Record.”
That interest doesn’t make Podesta a doe-eyed believer, but he is taking a risk to admit to a serious interest in something the government officially says does not exist. I might have expected Secretary Clinton, upon admitting an interest in UFOs, to be inundated by negative tweets from presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump. He is anything but shy when it comes to hammering “Crooked Hillary” for one alleged misstep or another.
I suppose it’s possible that will happen, particularly if she discusses the subject any further. Or if a member of the press asks Trump about it.
In the meantime, hopes and dreams for possible UFO disclosure largely rest with the President. During the Obama administration, a group of disclosure advocates led by lobbyist Stephen Bassett, submitted a petition on the matter to the White House that contained over 5,000 signatures. But that’s nothing compared to some that attract more than a million. Still, a low-level science bureaucrat responded with the usual excuse that the U.S. government had no evidence that UFOs were spaceships.
End of story!
Well, except that Bassett reportedly wanted to try again, this time by signing up far more people. You don’t hear much about it anymore, which leads me to believe that he wasn’t able to generate enough interest.
In passing, you’d think that, since millions of Americans reportedly believe that UFOs are spaceships, Bassett or his cohorts would surely be able to convince a few hundred thousand to sign a petition demanding disclosure. Not that it would achieve a more positive result, but it might cause officials to take it more seriously.
Now on this week’s episode of The Paracast, we feature Grant Cameron, author of “The Clinton UFO Storybook: ET Politics in the White House.” It’s an apt title for the political season, and at a time where books and articles are accusing the Clintons of all sorts of transgressions, it’s a nice change of pace.
Now when you listen to the interview, take note that Cameron, though a personable and articulate guest, is a difficult subject. He presentation reminds me of the results of trying to fill 10 ounces of water in a six once glass. He talks fast, and seems so overwhelmed with information that he struggles to present it as quickly as possible. You are soon confronted with dozens of factoids to consider within the space of a few minutes, sentence after sentence, suggestion after suggestion, hint after hint. As soon as you seize on one point for a question, he’s on to something else.
You’ll hear what I mean when you listen to the show. He comes across as if he’s trying just a little too hard to find a UFO-related connection in otherwise innocuous statements or events.
Now it may well be true that the U.S. government harbors UFO secrets. It may well be true that a spaceship truly crashed at Roswell, NM in 1947, and the bodies of space visitors were recovered. Despite recent doubts over some of the key details, the story is not about to go away.
While the authorities have attributed Roswell to crashed Project Mogul balloons and crash test dummies, people don’t believe governments anymore about much of anything. Indeed, if President Obama trotted out a gray alien during a press conference, a sizable segment of the U.S. population wouldn’t believe that either.
