This Week's Episode: Gene and cohost Tim Swartz take a fascinating journey through the world of Shadow People and the Hat Man with author and podcaster Heidi Hollis. She says she actually named, defined, and trademarked these two otherworldly realities. According to Hollis, such phenomena expose a peculiar bridge between Ufology and the paranormal world that Hollis has been speaking about for years. With her book, she embarked on a unique journey to find answers that led her to inform the world, as told in: “The Secret War: A True Story About a Real Alien War” and “Shadow People.” She has also written several other books on a variety of phenomena touching on cryptozoology to holy encounters. Hollis has been featured globally on various television and radio programs like Strange Evidence, Beyond Belief with George Noory, The Unexplained Files, Mystery Hunters and as a host on The CW for Mysteries Decoded in 2022!

After The Paracast — Available exclusively for Paracast+ subscribers on January 8: Author/podcaster Heidi Hollis returns to talk with Gene and cohost Tim Swartz about the demonic nature of the Shadow People and Hat Man, and the dangers posed by the latter. She also reveals that some of her discoveries and evidence have been ripped off by Hollywood over the years. She is also host of Dark Becomes Light on the iHeartRadio and Coast to Coast AM Paranormal Podcast Network. In her civilian life, she was trained as an Occupational Therapist treating clients with psychological, cognitive, learning, and physical challenges to reach their fullest potential. But nowadays she spends most of her time exploring paranormal phenomena, and trying to understand the strange experiences her listeners have reported to her over the years.

What They Say is Not What They Mean
By Gene Steinberg

Over the years, I’ve read about, and sometimes met, loads of people who claim to be in contact with higher beings. Some of them are from the astral, the experiencers claim, while others are visitors from other planets.

The form of communication differs. In some cases, the visitors speak normal conversational English, or whatever language is native to the witness. In other cases, the messages are transformed telepathically, mind to mind. The stranger alternative is where another being’s speaks through an individual, as if they had multiple personalities and the gift of mimicry.

For the most part, the messages are the same: Humans are a nasty lot, engaging in tribal warfare with their fellow beings. Some will point to the ways in which we are despoiling our planet and the dangers of climate change.

Either way, it is up to us to fix the problem. They are just communicating with us to inform us of what most of us already know. If we don’t follow the path of goodness and respect to the environment, they will….

What?

It appears nothing. These beings, whatever they are, focus on getting their message of peace and love through to us. It is up to humans to make the obvious decisions of what to do about it.

When war erupts in a country, with people on all sides suffering from injuries, many dying, the higher beings devoted to peace do absolutely nothing to save lives. Out of nearly eight billion of us infecting Earth nowadays, I suppose we are supposed to figure it all out and do something about it without any outside help.

But it’s not as if humans haven’t been told this before, witness religious texts through the ages. The means of transmission is irrelevant, since the message has little impact upon our daily lives.

This isn’t to say people are bad, only that ET, or beings from the astral, or whatever they are supposed to be, are feckless in managing this tragic state of affairs.

Contrast that to the protagonist in the original classic sci-fi film, “They Day the Earth Stood Still.”

There the alien, Klaatu, after recovering from fatal bullet wounds administered by Earth authorities, delivers a message of peace with a stick attached. If we don’t reform our ways and join the galactic brotherhood, Earth will be eliminated.

After delivering his potentially terrifying proclamation, Klaatu leaves in his flying saucer. There is no “The Day the Earth Stood Still 2” to see what happens next.

All right, the film was remade in 2008. It did gross more than its reported budget, but the plotting was regarded as essentially incoherent. It was meant to be a reimagining of the original film, which in turn was a reimagining of a short story published in 1940, “Farewell to the Master.”

The “stick” part of Klaatu’s message has been largely dispensed with when flying saucer contactees, mostly in the 1950s and 1960, spoke of their encounters with similar entities. Only the message was meant to be persuasive without any threats to back it up.

Chalk it up to contactee spin control.

Then there’s the issue of the sources of such messages. The early UFO contactees claimed their visitors were allegedly from nearby planets in our solar system, primarily Mars and Venus. Ignored, however, was the fact that the atmospheric conditions on those worlds are very hostile to human life. Venus, to be blunt, is a hothouse with temperatures of over 800 degrees Fahrenheit.

In passing, I did bring up these unfortunate facts to Craig Campobasso, a Paracast guest on our October 30, 2022 episode. He claimed that virtually all planets were inhabited, but when service conditions don’t support life as we know it, they occupy the interiors, akin to legends of a Hollow Earth. There, he asserted, climate conditions were more temperate.

Not very scientific, but I suppose it is an original idea; make that an excuse.

In any case, as our knowledge of the universe has expanded, higher beings have changed their tune. No longer are they from planets we know can’t support life as we know it. Now they come from worlds orbiting faraway star systems.

It’s a possibility. We have confirmed the existence of planets with Goldilocks-type conditions, meaning not dissimilar to that of Earth. So humanoids could live there in perfect comfort, although it’s not as if we can confirm any of it. We are, after all, viewing these planets from light years away, and astronomers are using the tricks of the trade to guess as to the makeup of their atmospheres.

The long and short of it, though, is whether we can believe ET.

I will sidestep, for the sake of this article, the question of whether such contact claims have any basis in fact. It’s fair to some some are fantasies, made up by the percipients to gain followers, make some money, or to spread personal messages that would not be taken seriously if they came from ordinary people.

So if any of these experiences are genuine, is that cause to believe the messages? If a gray alien being claims to be from a planet orbiting Zeta Reticuli, a binary star system over 39 light years from us, why believe them?

It’s not just that scientists have yet to confirm the existence of an exoplanet around either star.

Why believe anything such beings tell us? Because they have advanced technology and can play fantastic tricks with it? If they profess peace and love, that’s comforting of course. But what if they are just messing with us, or have hidden motives we cannot understand. Perhaps they want to lull us into a sense of security before they stage a quiet, bloodless takeover.Again, the easiest approach would be to just dismiss all such claims as fantasies. The experiencers are making it all up, or are victims of unknown mental illnesses. That’s the ticket, right?

But too many of these episodes have occurred to what appear to be perfectly reasonable people to assume none of it is real. And if it is real, what does it mean? Are the messages conveyed by so-called higher beings to be taken seriously? Or are they just blowing smoke?

The way the world is these days, I’m very inclined to think the latter.
