UFO Paranoia -- or Something Else?

It's part and parcel of UFO lore that governments are somehow monitoring the activities of UFO witnesses and perhaps even attempting to force them not to reveal a sighting or other strange encounter.

On this week's episode of The Paracast, for example, there's a curious anecdote from "Doug," an experiencer, who talks about a lifetime of paranormal experiences. On one occasion, after a particularly frightening UFO sighting in the desert that included missing time, he told of dropping off several rolls of photos taken during his trip at a photo finishing shop in a shopping mall.

This was in the days of traditional film, long before digital cameras took over. So unless you were one of the few hobbyists or pros who actually did your own film processing, you depended on someone else to do the work for you. Understand, though, that most of this work is handled by machines. The technicians actually are doing nothing more than pushing buttons and handling materials whose contents they don't see unless they make a special effort to look for something specific, without going into detail.

Well, in this particular instance, the outcome might be easily telegraphed. Doug turned in five rolls of film, but the one he used to capture images of that large UFO he saw was missing when he picked up his photos. He complained to everyone he could at the photo finishing plant and the corporate office, but the "lost roll" was never located. Four photos of the UFO on yet another roll of film, taken by his brother, were also missing, but this time different negatives were evidently substituted for the originals, clumsily taped onto the original roll.

Before you ask, yes, David and I believe Doug is absolutely credible in what he's reporting. So you have to wonder just what's going on here. Was someone watching Doug, ready to steal the crucial evidence of his sighting at the precise moment that he chose a photo finishing booth at random at a nearby shopping mall?

Well, in exchange for the missing film, Doug was offered free processing for life, although I would hope he was sufficiently soured on that company never to want to use them again for anything. Besides, the chances the place is even in business anymore is slim to none.

Now assuming this wasn't just a set of unfortunate accidents, that would mean that his activities were being closely monitored by someone, or something? The whole situation is extremely curious.

Of course, this isn't the first time apparent evidence of UFOs has disappeared or been withheld. Over the years, UFO literature has contained a number of reports of sightings where photos were submitted to the government for analysis, only to somehow disappear, or end up not being returned. Out of sight, out of mind!

It gets even stranger when you the so-called "Men In Black" enter the picture. Forget the curious characters in the graphic comic book and those comedy movies. But don't forget the image of men in dark suits, often wearing black sunglasses, coming to your home or office and demanding that you stop talking about your paranormal encounter in the interests of national security.

Is this all real, or an example of someone or something deliberately playing pranks on UFO witnesses for reasons best known to themselves?

Then again, all of this may be little more than a clever diversion, designed to focus our attention away from what's really going on, whatever that may be.

Peace,
Gene Steinberg

What happened to the 'Thanks' button?

It's been taken away for processing :D

Joking aside I'm really looking forward to this show and the highlight for me in all that you wrote there Gene has to be, "Doug was offered free processing for life". I bet he was and I wonder how many others suffer that very same problem, and I'm not talking about film either.
