This Week's Episode: Gene and Randall present Thomas R. Morrison, the leading artist in New Orleans Carnival and co-host of Physics Frontiers, a podcast dedicated to breakthrough concepts and controversies in the academic literature of theoretical physics. Thomas approaches the subject of UFOs from a scientific standpoint, with an eye on advancements in astrophysics and theoretical physics that can shed light on the origin and the phenomenology of UFOs, and enjoys sharing his findings on social media platforms like The Paracast Forums, and at the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program Discussion Cell on facebook, where he serves as an administrator along with a group of other dedicated researchers. Will his insights offer clues as to the propulsion system the UFOs use?

After The Paracast -- Available exclusively for Paracast+ subscribers on August 1: Ufologist and student of advanced physics Thomas R. Morrison continues to explore theories of antigravity, said to be the propulsion scheme used by UFOs to perform their incredible maneuvers. During this episode, Morrison also talks about the scientific writings of one Daniel W. Fry, one of the contactees from the 1950s, who wrote about the Dark Energy Effect, a property of physics not discovered until decades later. Thomas enjoys sharing his findings on social media platforms like The Paracast Forums, and at the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program Discussion Cell on facebook, where he serves as an administrator along with a group of other dedicated researchers.

About Contactee Science

By Gene Steinberg

So if the theories about being visited by spaceships holds true, the question is whether we’ve ever been contacted by ET. Over the years, people have said that, yes, they have meet beings that allegedly come from other planets, but many of the claims have been inconsistent if not hoaxed.

In the early days of the modern UFO era, ET was almost always humanoid (so-called Nordics most often), unlike the grotesque beings that often turned up in sci-fi movies. They spoke in English when they appeared in the U.S., and maybe it was just a translation device a la Star Trek. People in other countries were, in turn, contacted in their native languages. But in some cases, the means of communication was telepathic, or via channeling, in which the experiencer was sort of possessed by the alleged Higher Being.

How “they” chose to convey information to us doesn’t matter so much. It’s more a matter of what they said, not how they did it. And here’s where things went awry.

In large part, ET would alert us to the folly of our warlike ways. But sometimes it was about the medical experimentation performed on abductees.

But it’s fair to say that the information wasn’t terribly useful. We know about love and peace. It’s just that far too many of us don’t pay attention. Unfortunately, when apparent scientific information is presented by our visitors, it is either simplistic or downright wrong. You’d think that advanced intelligences would be fully capable of understanding the laws of physics.

Sure, perhaps they simplified their messages so that primitive Earthlings would understand, but that doesn’t mean displaying childish ignorance.

The long and short is that ET never seems to be capable of telling us anything we don’t know, which makes it easy to assume that the experiencers are just making it all up.

In cases where the experiencer is shown alleged examples of advanced technology, they seem to get it all wrong. Or when they describe a trip beyond the boundaries of Earth, it appears they lack knowledge of basic science.

Consider one of the most infamous contactees from the “golden age,” one George Adamski. He allegedly met up with beings from Venus, blissfully unaware that the planet was a virtual hot house. But that came before astronomers had reasonably solid knowledge of that planet’s atmosphere.

Then again, if you watched some of the Saturday morning sci-fi TV shows of that era (as I did), Venus was presented as largely Earth-like. Edgar Rice Burroughs, best known as the creator of Tarzan and John Carter of Mars, wrote a series of novels describing a character named Carson Napier, who visited a version of Venus quite habitable but perpetually clouded.

I’m sure if Burroughs survived beyond the discoveries of the true conditions on Venus, he would have surely revised his novels accordingly.

But sometimes the entities Earthlings contacted may have had a handle on things. Or at least in the case of contactee Daniel W. Fry.

Fry’s contact allegedly occurred on July 4, 1949 (or 1950 in another version), where he was taken from White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico, flown to New York City and back in 30 minutes. This was the first of his contacts with a being named “Alan.”

During the course of his contacts, Alan conveyed all sorts of information, some of which involved advanced physics. I’ll get back to that later on.

Now after his story became public in 1954, Fry’s claims quickly fell apart. So there were reports of a failed lie detector test, and he produced a series of photos and 16mm pictures of flying saucers that were easily debunked. His claimed doctorate, in something called “Cosmism,” evidently came from a degree mill.

It’s easy to dismiss Fry’s claims, and most serious UFO researchers did.

But it’s also true that he did have a genuine technical background, working on components for rockets for several companies that included Aerojet General Corporation. That, however, would not make him a physicist.

Over the years, I largely ignored Fry. He was just another of those curious eccentric characters from the early days.

Until I read some messages in The Paracast Forums from artist Thomas R Morrison, a student of advanced physics. So there’s a short book from Fry entitled, “Steps to the Stars,” first published in 1956.

According to Thomas, Fry treated the subject of antigravity with a remarkable degree of accuracy, describing a property of physics known as the Dark Energy Effect, which wasn’t actually discovered until decades later.

The actual book is posted on this site:

Now I am not a scientist and do not play one on TV. But Thomas, though he lacks a degree in physics, clearly knows his stuff, and he is extremely impressed by the breath of knowledge conveyed by someone who was usually regarded as just another flying saucer contactee that was just making things up.

I’ll leave it to the scientific-oriented readers in our audience to go through the book and judge Fry’s grasp of scientific knowledge.

Now even if he’s on the ball in most respects, that doesn’t mean that his contacts were genuine, or that the information was conveyed to him by Alan or someone else who allegedly came from another planet. Fry did have a genuine level of technical knowledge, though it was mainly in explosives and rocketry. But that doesn’t mean he didn’t study the sciences as a layman and was thus able to devise theories that were later confirmed as substantially accurate.

But that obscure book was in a sense lost in the muddle caused by clearly false contact claims. Maybe that was the intention. Fry did devote a number of years to his activities in the contactee movement, where he ran an organization known as Understanding.

Indeed, one of his more curious activities was a run, in 1972, as the University Party candidate for Vice President of the United States. Running for president was another contactee, Gabriel Green.

Lest we forget, some guy named Nixon and another guy named Agnew won that year by record margins. And we all know what happened to them.

As to Fry, if he was truly on to something, it would mark one of the few — or only instances — in which a contactee provided useful scientific information. In the meantime, Thomas appears on this weekend’s episodes of The Paracast and After The Paracast, and he talks about Fry’s writings in the latter.
