What was Lost when the Great Library of Alexandria was destroyed?

I have always wondered about what exactly was lost when the Library burned down, what do you think?
Were there "documents" that would change our understanding of the ancient world and if so what did they say? (allegedly:))

I believe it was a huge loss to the world. More than we can comprehend.

This is one of the greatest losses in my opinion.

The works of Aristarchus of Samos (circa 310 BCE-230 BCE): Sometime in the 3rd Century BCE, Aristarchus of Samos figured out that the Earth orbits the Sun, and not the other way around. He also correctly deduced the order of the planets, and he knew that the solar system was many, many times bigger than his contemporaries' estimates.

I wonder about the "history" section, I wonder how far their records went back. I also imagine they held the blueprints for the pyramids etc.
If I had a time machine I think it is the first place I would visit, with a digital camera (and a bag full of batteries and memory cards ofc) :)

Just makes me wonder, what if the site that was "razed" was a fake, the actual library was somewhere else, ultimately ending up buried within the "sands" . I was reading about the theory on its demise, but something doesn't feel right, either it could be a fake site (why would you display your treasures out just for invaders to take, or the scrolls were all but destroyed... I see a lot of the library was described as only as a museum and pretty inactive, so possibly sounds like, things were moved or hidden away, as I believe the ancient druids in my opinion have their literature hidden away as well and all time forgotten now.

These events happen for a political outcome with a military agenda and always wonder did it include so called advance information which did threaten the super power of the day and a cover-up was installed to stop civilization and doubt the so called items were destroyed going on humanities record throughout history. You can look at examples today regarding suppression of documents from 20th Century.

I cannot help but believe the library scholars at the time knew in advance the political climate was changing and the documents were in danger. Surely they were not blind to the dangers. My intuition, or wishful thinking, tells me they are still hidden somewhere maybe in the middle of the Sahara or some crypt not yet found i8n Northern Africa. Speculation only though.
But damn the wonders that must have been in those documents. Makes me dizzy thinking about it.

Anyone care to guess how much of humanity's history has been intentionally destroyed by conquering armies and competing ideologies down through the centuries? Just what we know has been deliberately erased, is appalling.

It was not that long ago in history where such advanced nation decide to burn book due to political ideology in the last 20th Century in NAZI Germany in 1933 and imagine some lost manuscripts gone up in smoke which might have changed humanity? Still happening today regards burning books which threaten dictatorships or heavily censored books which open hidden agenda's! What happened to the freedom of the press??

Also lets not forget human travel during history and the lost knowledge under our the oceans and deep lakes. Moreover, the exploration which seems deep oceans were rather ignored compared to travel to the Moon. Here is excellent talk on future discoveries and defense, mining projects ongoing,

Wow just wow Thanks Blowfish, I am ashamed to say that I was not familiar with DR Ballard but I am now an instant fan! Thanks again for sharing this video.

Strabo said the Kelts of Iberia had a 7,000 year written history before he lived. That may be an understatement but it tells you a little about how wrong our linguists and historians selling the Cradle of Civilization (Bible Narrative) have been. The Senchus Mor which St. Patrick personally burned all hand written copies of (and for which he was given more rewards like his bishopric) and scribbled his remarks on glosses of remains he kept or shall I say re-wrote to suit Rome's purpose was said to be 25,000 years old. What alphabet was used in either era - Ogham and all the various Oghamic tracts found all over the world.

Eratosthenes (addressing what someone thinks was from a 3rd C. BCE) circumnavigated the globe and did a map around that time. He was aided by a man named Maui who I think knew a lot more from far earlier times. Descriptions would have included ancient navigational equipment including astrolabes like the Antikythera, torquetums or Tanawa and what is drawn on the West Irian cave walls in Indonesia near where we found 500m year old (older actually) last year.

The Rhind Papyrus and Edwin Smith Codex were copied from earlier medical treatises. Those would likely have been in the Great Library built by an alchemist named Ptolemy whose family always had one child study hard and long the true sciences.

Needless to say all writings about Giza would have been in the Great Library. The Ark of the Covenant helped map the ancient world as a form of ark transmitter. There was one on every ark sent out by Necho II or others like Solomon to get riches and drugs from the Americas and Australia etc. We have loads of evidence.

Perhaps the most important reason to destroy the Great Library was the fact that many people were fleeing the rise of Empire and coming to America. It is seen in Glen Larson's Battlestar Galactica and you don't even have to know code to see it in the original.

Israel's Lost Tribes

America is a place where many escaped and many of them were what we call Jews who refused to become 'conversos'.

The Gaedhils like Simon Magus were with the Gnostics. They are from Hyperborean regions where the Megaliths are older in underwater Carnac than Karnac in Egypt. In fact the elites of all white people are to be found in cahoots or corporate ventures to this day. Philip Gardiner's The Shining Ones documents some of this and he wrote that shortly before I contacted him.

The extent of idiocy and lack of research or the abuse of myths does astound me occasionally. Yes, the Nephilim and Elohim et al can be connected to the Illuminati - the illuminati wrote the Bible when the so-called Diaspora was going on. See recent archaeology disproving that Diaspora myth. Yes, they probably used the alien origin all over the place on numerous occasions and whatever else worked too. But those who need to believe in the Bible and these myths; are now saying the Illuminati want to re-create Giant Nephilim through some genetic program and that they have proof. Yes, I have dealt with the genetic programs throughout history but that does not make the giants into aliens. Did you know science will soon be able to transfer or replace your head? Jesus H Christ these people need a head transplant!

... other, and have included among them many of the leading figures of history. ... as the Nephilim, or “Sons of God”, and were said to have descended to earth ..."

You might think I should give up or stop wasting my time. You might think I am a crazy egotistical a-hole too. I can only say if YOU don't do something to put an end to the history and laws that come directly from the lies of history you can expect your children will suffer more than a little for it. You probably won't or do not know the extent of your own lack of freedom or the brainwashed ideologies you have so "What me worry' eh?

""Send these the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door." When Emma Lazarus penned these famous lines in 1903, she might have been reflecting an ongoing situation through much of recorded history. This is that America, for well over 2,000 years, has served as a place of refuge for Old World peoples driven from their homes by conquest or persecution. 1 Evidence abounds that many of these visitors to America were Israelites, Dan being just one tribe among them. A clay tablet found in a rock crevice near Big Bend, Texas, tells of Zoroastrians (followers of Mithraic sun worship) who came once to America, probably from Iberia. Dr. Henriette Mertz, Professors Cyrus Gordon and Cyclone Covey, and Dr. Robert Stieglitz discovered an immigration to Tennessee and Kentucky of homeless Jews after the many pogroms of Antiochus in Syria and Nero and Hadrian in Rome. Some were here already when, in 69, during the First Revolt of Jerusalem against the Romans, others came over. Flavius Josephus, who himself took part in this revolt, mentions that through the year 69 a great comet hung like a flaming sword over Jerusalem. Some Zealots took it to be the sign of the coming of the promised Messiah and rebelled. Today we know that it was Halley's Comet, making one of its many returns. A stone excavated from a burial mound at Bat Creek in Tennessee tells us that Jews in Tennessee recognized the sign and inscribed the stone "The Comet for the Jews." This strongly suggests that Tennessee and Kentucky became havens of refuge for these persecuted Hebrews. A later influx of Jews came to the same place after the next, and last, revolt against Rome over a hundred years later. Hebrew shekels dating from the Second Revolt in 132 occur in many parts of Kentucky and a nearby district of Arkansas. Dr. Joseph Mahan is presently researching these matters in the language and traditions of the southeastern tribes. He also is investigating Hebrew religious ceremonies found among the Yuchi Indians there. 2

At Los Lunas, near Albuquerque, is a version of the Ten Commandments engraved on rock and another similar inscription has been found on a stone tablet found in a burial mound at Newark, Ohio. These are ancient inscriptions using a north Canaanite script and old Hebrew language. 3

These petroglyphs date to 800-900 B.C.E. and are in the Old Hebrew language and using a Phoenician alphabet. 4

Note the date. This was in the times of King Solomon and the Phoenician King Hiram. The authors believe this region in New Mexico to have been the destination of the "Ships of Tarshish" in 1 Kings 10:22. The Old Hebrew language was not used by the Jews after the Babylonian exile. Aramaic replaced it. The old script was replaced in the last century B.C.E. by the quadratic script, which is still in use today. Rabbis, though, still understand the Old Hebrew, in which the first five books of Moses are written.

The Phoenician language and script had spread through the Mediterranean area by the turn of the first millennium B.C.E., was the basis of the Hebrew, Greek, and other alphabets, had been supplanted in the old Phoenician territory around Tyre and Sidon by the time of Alexander, but had remained dominant in Carthage (called Punic language) until the city's destruction by Rome in 146 B.C.E. In other North African and American colonies of the Phoenician-Danites, the language remained in use until the 4th century C.E. Then it, along with Cuneiform writings and Egyptian hieroglyphs, vanished into oblivion. About 200 years ago the Phoenician script was deciphered.

The above authors wondered if the inscriptions were made by Jews (Israelites--probably Dan), who, together with Phoenicians, made long voyages for King Solomon. After an absence of three years, they delivered 420 talents of gold (1 Kings 9:28 and 10:22). The 420 talents would be about 11,000 kg. today with a value of about 100 million dollars. Nowhere in the Bible is there a clue to where "Ophir" is. The Phoenicians, we have learned, kept their trade routes a strict secret. 5

The authors decided to investigate further, specifically to check out the assertions by skeptics that they were a Mormon fake. At the Mormon Pioneer Museum in Salt Lake City, they found no evidence of Mormons having been in the Los Lunas area, except for one instance. The "Mormon Battalion," which was part of the U.S. Army during the Mexican War, marched from Santa Fe down the Rio Grande Valley. They read diaries of the soldiers, reading that the officers commanding the battalion maintained strict discipline, allowing none of their soldiers to leave the column. Also, a Professor Charles S. Peterson, Mormon history specialist, told them that in the 19th century, no Mormon would have been able to write such an inscription. Joseph Smith had studied Hebrew, but had been murdered before the Mormons' trek to the West.

Another possibility might have been when the Romans destroyed Carthage. Punic sailors and other Israelites living there might have fled across the ocean to avoid the burning of their ships, which has been reported by Livius in his History of the Punic Wars. 6

In 1558, a French churchman, the Abbe Amiot, became the literary sensation of Europe, having just discovered ancient Greek manuscripts by a historian named Plutarch in monastery libraries in Italy. In one segment of Plutarch, he discusses an ancient Carthaginian manuscript he says he found in the ruins of that city, one dealing with voyages across the Atlantic. The islands he mentioned perfectly fit the Orkneys, Shetlands, Faeroes, and Iceland (Ogygia). Then, he says, if you sail along this coast in a southward direction, you will pass a frozen sea and come to a land where Greeks have settled and intermarried with the native barbarians. 7 In analyses of Norse sailing routes, George Lechler pointed out that the southern part of Davis Strait, between Labrador and Greenland, becomes an impassable mass of floating ice during the summer season, when northern navigations could be performed. The land where the Greeks had settled and intermarried with the native barbarians, Nova Scotia and New England, lies in the position Plutarch gave, for he said they lay in the same latitudes as the Caspian Sea.

I won't go into the prevalence of Greek roots of the Micmac language, but will remind the reader that many of the Greeks were Danite Israelites. Briefly, though, Barry Fell says the Greek of Micmac is more appropriately called Ptolemaic Greek, and it came to Nova Scotia and Maine from North Africa, where many Greek-speaking communities existed in Classical times.

In "Barry Fell and His Accomplishments," we find that the ancient San Telmo Stone of Portugal, believed to have the oldest form of Basque writing on it, was unreadable until Fell deciphered it, using the Cree Indian alphabet of North America. 8"
