Well, There is not a lot to tell. When I was a kid I probably believed in everything. But, One by one you discover there is no definitive proof about anything. So you become hard and close yourself up to the possibility of anything beyond your 5 senses. Part of it no doubt is you just don't want to look foolish. But I would say the biggest reason you become so hard and skeptical is you just don't want to get your hopes up, only to find out that this is all there is and that would be so disappointing!

I hear ya'! It's a paradox: We want to know reality, but we also want the romance and the mystery!
