GaryVoorhis_01 b.pngGary Voorhis Jr. is a firsthand witness to part of the the U.S.S. Nimitz "tic-tac" UFO events during the week of the 14th of November 2004. He was a fire control-man and Aegis Computer/ CEC technician onboard the U.S.S. Princeton. His responsibilities included the operation, maintenance, and repair of the Aegis weapon systems and non-Aegis sensor systems for the purpose of testing and evaluating experimental upgrades to the Aegis baseline 6.1 and Cooperative Engagement Systems or CEC for short.

When the unknown returns would show up on radar, Voorhis would run up to the bridge and look through a pair of heavily magnified binoculars in the direction the returns were coming from. He said the objects were too far off to make out any distinguishing features, however, he could clearly see something moving erratically in the distance. They'd just be hovering there, then all of a sudden, in an instant, they’d dart off to another direction and stop. At night, they’d give off a kind of a phosphorus glow and were a little easier to see than in the day.

Hello Gary.

There's a Dave Beaty youtube interview of a USS Nimitz sailor, Omar Lara, who said that during the Nov. 2004 time period he was topside one evening watching, with several other sailors, an overboard sailor in the process of being rescued. Omar said that while they were watching, aft of the ship, they saw a rather large light drop down from high altitude, shoot across the horizon quite a ways, and then ascend, all very rapidly. Omar said the Nimitz then immediately went to general quarters and was about to launch the ready fighter, but after about half a minute, they were secured from general quarters. [The overboard sailor was rescued, by the way.]
  1. I was wondering, was general quarters ever sounded on the Princeton during the detection of the objects?
  2. Another sailor, Ryan Weigelt, part of the helicopter detachment on the Princeton, said that during the episode, the Princeton actually left the Nimitz's battle group and sailed to a US Navy port not that far away in southern California, and afterward returned to the battle group. Do you have any recollection of that? Any comments about it?
  3. Are there other sailors who've contacted you guys, but do not wish to be identified? If so, have they added any info to the basic story?
  4. Have you guys been in contact with Commander Fravor?
  5. Do you know any other officers who are providing or corroborating any other information?
  6. Have you had any other experiences, whether still in the Navy or after you got out, that are extremely hard to explain?

Thanks.
