I am wondering if there are myths and or widespread believed stories in the Philippines which bear a fundamental similarity to a European analog?

Secondly, if there is a strong "resemblance" to a European phenomenon, is that because of influences in cross-cultural storytelling or the confirmation of a parallel and shared experiences across the planet?
