Paranormal Novice
So, since this show's only once a week, like most others, I was wondering if people had more similar podcasts.
Usually at night, I listen to some podcasts before I can finally catch some sleep

Doesn't have to be all UFO-related ofcourse...

I subscribe through iTunes, so a RSS/XML feed is a plus!

ATM I have Dreamland, Mysterious Universe (seems dead), Earthfiles, RediceCreations, ATS, etc

Thx!

Hi there...
Since you didn't mention these and I don't know what "etc" refers to specifically, you might want to add to your list the following: Eerie Radio, Culture of Contact, The Black Vault, UFO Radio, Ufonaut Radio, Right Where You Are Sitting Now!, Paranormal Cafe, The Strange but True Radio Podcast and The 13 Skulls and if you like Ben Grundy's polished editing and voice, he has hosted two episodes of Achieving Immortality. I have downloaded others but as I have not listened to them yet, therefore I can't comment on them yet. The above all have their own unique style, all except Strange But True and The 13 Skulls are interview based. The 13 Skulls is like MU in that its a series of news stories read, reported and commented on; Strange but True sometimes has other material, such as, recordings of actual ghost investigations. Some are recorded live and others are edited before they are made available and all can be downloaded via iTunes. There, those should keep you busy for a while... :p

The Black Vault Radio, hosted by The Black Vault's John Greenewald, Jr., is the second most professionally produced show on these subjects. The first., in my opinion is The Paracast.

Dissent, I know what "etc", means silly... :p I just don't know what else you intended to represent by "etc". To me it just means that there are other shows in your list that you listen to but are choosing not to list them. BTW, as soon as I listen to the other shows I've downloaded I'll let you know about them too.

Exeriancer7, I agree with your assessment of Black Vault Radio; I was pleasantly surprised. I have listened to every episode so far; The Paracast is a great show as well, very imformative and polished. I look forward to it every week.

i started listning to this show a year ago, and once a week is more than enough. Unlike other shows this show is objective, thats why i like it..

I love WOTU, them guys are crazy (in a good way)... I only wish they update more often.

Yes there hasnt been a new show in months. Sometimes 5 or 6 shows will turn up at once though.

It is a really good show even though its a little conservative with a religious bent.

Definatley worth a listen.

Catie.

What I ment to say was that I have a couple other similar ones, but by this thread I would like to get to know some others.

Paranormal podcast is on my list too, but they're usually pretty short and the interviewer always seems to agree while I'm a bit skeptic towards some of the guests.

Lol, yesterday I started checking the black vault. First guest I heard, Michael Horn... What a convincing story! No way that a swiss farmer, a one-armed swiss farmer above all, could ever lie. :D:D:confused: The guy's just repeating that over and over again, like he's trying to condition us into believing. What a joke!

Hope the rest of the black vault's guests are a bit more beliefworthy :)

Any recommend episodes on any of these channels?

Well., John's not as picky about the credibility of his guest as G&D. That's why he's second on my short list.

I checked out a few of these - the Howard Hughes one seems to be ok. The Spooky Southcast seems to present a lot of chatter without too much substance (all hat no cattle). The Black Vault is not bad technically or subject-wise.
I have found most of the podcasts out there are poor quality in terms of sound. They are seem to have big differences in the volume of different participants (one is loud, the other is too quiet) or have blasts of loud music at times. This alone will make me go to something else instead of listening all the way thru.
The Paracast is still the best in terms of audio quality, intelligent questions asked and decent subjects.

One that I particularly like is Binnall of America's podcast. Tim Binnall does a good job in asking questions and really giving his guests all the time they need to put together an answer. Also, since there's no sponsors he needs to get to the show seems to (in my opinion) flow a bit better than most.

The audio quality isn't the best in the world, but Tim more than makes up for it with solid interviews and great guests.

Yes they are a bit hit and miss. It depends on what Guest they have on. I like it because i'm from the UK and its interesting to hear a show that is a little bit regional.

I like New England and all its folk lore like the Bell Witch and the Salem Witch Trials many of their guests are from New England.

My favourite shows of theirs are the ones that discuss the BridgeWater Triangle.

Rogue Radio used to be Paranormal Cafe. The Paranormal Podcast. Beyond Reason, strange stuff from a Christian perspective, but not heavy on the religion/faith, Richard Syrett's Strange Planet, 5 minute bits of weirdness, Point of Inquiry - from a skeptic's point of view and completely against religion which they have focussed on for the last God knows how long... ;), NPR Science Fridays.

those are some worth checking out.

I can't stand Eerie Radio. To me those guys have wayyy too much of the 'wacky FM DJ' personality and antics. I was a long time subscriber to Mysterious Universe, and was sad to see it go. Since then I have cut back rather significantly on my paranormal podcast listening. The Paracast is head and shoulders above the field. The only other that I listen to is Nightwatch with Todd Sheets.

THANK YOU.
I feel that it is a waste of time to listen to most other paranormal type podcasts. I basically just do it every once in a while for mild entertainment.
I do like The Culture of Contact, not only because the Paracast guys are on sometimes, but I love Jeremy's sense of humor. Many of the other guests he has on are interesting and entertaining. At the same time, a lot of them are wacky and/or woo-woo, but entertaining nonetheless. But it is the only paranormal comedy-cast that I know of.
Can't stand Eerie, and I too loved MU. I'll have to check out the other one you mentioned as we seem to have some of the same taste in podcasts.:)
I do listen to some history, science and politics. Dan Carlin is one of my favorites(for history[Hardcore History] and politics[Common Sense]), and The Ted Talks series have some great lectures on practically everything. Science Talk, CBC Quirks and Quarks and NPR Science Friday are good too (if you like science).

I actually haven't listened to Culture of Contact yet, although I have been meaning to. As for the others you have listed, I used to listen to NPR Science Friday but while I am at work it was just putting me right to sleep. Nightwatch is an interesting listen. The guy that hosts it used to make a lot of older low budget films, and he seems like a cool guy. They have a lot of conspiracy theory stuff, which to me is always interesting even when it goes a little over the top. It's a lot different than The Paracast in that the host doesn't usually call his guests on bs.

Others that I sometimes listen to(rarely anymore) are Darkness on the Edge of Town and Skeptoid. The Skeptoid guy seems like a real prick, but I don't mind hearing some other theories.
