Come on. Who wants to get e-mails from crazies (which is what often happened when I used my real name)? I rarely got rational e-mails. Instead, I heard from people I was afraid I might some day encounter when I was alone on a dark street (which is a genuine concern for any female in our random violence- and stalker-prone society).
No longer using one's real name (I stopped doing that about five years ago) does not render a comment on any subject invalid. In fact, for many, it makes it easier to be honest and not hold back.
I don't have that big an ego that I need to see my real name plastered all over the Internet as some seem to so desperately want and need. I don't wanna be star. I'll leave that to the rest of you who crave it.
