I just got around to listening to this (I don't usually listen to em in a timely manner
) and even though I've never been overly interested in the whole shadow people phenomenon, I found it rather interesting.
I also found the "hat man" idea interesting, and I instantly thought of Freddy Krueger (the villain in the Nightmare on Elm Street movies). Does anyone else connect these dots or is it just me? Either (a) the character could be based on the hat man, or (b) people see the hat man as a result of being familiar with the character, whether consciously or not. Of course, (b) wouldn't explain any hat man encounters before the first NoES movie, but since I'm not too familiar with the phenomenon (this is the only exposure I've ever had to it) I'm just throwing out ideas.
