If any of us are truly lucky .. at least once in our lifetimes we are blessed by meeting a genuine Legend. My brush with meeting greatness happened in July of 1994 at the Director's Guild in Los Angeles during the premier of "Roswell" The Movie .. when I met Producer/Director Robert "Bob" Wise.
If you love movies then you will know Bob Wise's work "The Day The Earth Stood Still-1951", "The Desert Rats-1953", "Run Silent-Run Deep-1958", "West Side Story-1961", "The Sand Pebbles-1966", "The Andromeda Strain-1971", "Star Trek-The Movie-1979" .. to name just a few! Like I said, he was a real honest to God Legend.
When I met Mr. Wise I asked him if he would allow me to interview him and he very graciously consented. I forget now why he could not come on my show until the second hour, but Dwight and I looked forward to his appearance with anticipation. It was a great hour.
The first hour we talked about Paul Davids film "Roswell" and took a lot of telephone calls. Almost everyone we spoke to really liked the film. And .. when Mr. Wise came on we first discussed one of his most famous science fiction films, "The Day the Earth Stood Still". Get ready for a very enjoyable interview .. one I am very proud of! Robert Wise, a true Gentleman.
