Questions for Jim Moseley

I just finished the book, "They Knew To Much About Flying Saucers" by Gray Barker. I really liked the book and I thoroughly enjoyed Gray's writing style and his enthusiasm for saucers. As I approached the end of the novel, Jim Moseley was brought into the picture. The info given by Gray was that Jim had put in his publication (Sacuer News, October 1954) an article titled "The Flying Saucer Mystery-Solved" where Jim supposedly said he had info to reveal in the November issue concerning the subject but subsequently never did. My question is for long time listeners of the Paracast. Has Jim ever been questioned about this on past episodes of the show? I know he's been on the show many times and I know he's given his opinions of Gray Barker, but has he been questioned concerning this so called revealation? Was it a publicity stunt? A hoax? A silencing by MIB? Just curious if anyone would know the answer. My reasons for asking are that Jim claimed the Saucer Mystery was solved. Here we are many years later and the saucer mystery is not solved. So what's the deal Jim? I know he's admitted to doing some hoaxing. Was this one of those occasions? Please, any feedback would be nice. Thanks.

It's a good question to ask, but remember that Jim and Gray were notorious for pulling some stunts rather than do real research. One of those stunts was for Jim to push the "Earth theory," over the years, claiming UFOs were just secret aircraft from our own governments. These days, he will accept that possibility, but also that there is a genuine phenomenon to investigate and that the answers are highly complex.

Gene, im confused. The book states and I quote, " I tried to explain that although most people thought Moseley and I were very close friends and that I should know everything about the promoter of the "Earth Theory," as he termed his odd and somewhat over-urgent debunking of interplanetary saucers, in actuality I knew very little about the man." Was this Gray being serious or setting up a prank? I seems that Gray and others like, Len Stringfield were skeptical of Jim and his involvement in the field. Gray came off very serious throughout the book. Was he embellishing to make sells or what?

Let's put it this way: At the time that Barker was involved in public disagreements -- or feuds -- with Moseley, they were really close friends. Make of that what you will. Gray was serious about things in that book, but less serious thereafter. Certainly what he says about Albert K. Bender was serious, but Bender latest said his "Three Men in Black" were aliens rather than government operatives.

I would really love to read "Flying Saucers And The Three Men." Any idea where I could get the book for cheap? Barnes and Noble wants 40$ for a copy of "They Knew To Much About Flying Saucers." I can't even find the other book by Bender and Barker. I really like stuff dealing with the MIB plus, Bender and Barker are just intresting characters. I heard you mention on the show once, doing an episode where you would discuss more about Augie Roberts and Dom Lucchesi. That would be a good show in my opinion. Thanks, for the feedback Gene I appreciate it. I love the Paracast keep up the good work.
