This is probably a question for Gene, but I’m hoping someone with more HTML or site-architecture knowledge might be able to help.


Many years ago, around 2011–2012, this website had a section dedicated to podcasts beyond The Paracast. I believe it was called “The Raw List.” That section included a well-organized archive of Don Ecker’s UFOs Tonight.


I realize Don may have these recordings elsewhere, but for simplicity’s sake, those episodes were already digitized and hosted directly on this site at the time.


Do those shows still exist on the server? It’s possible the link was removed from the main page but remains accessible via an old sitemap or directory within The Paracast site.


I would really love the opportunity to revisit and listen to some of those episodes.

Did Don Ecker pass away or did he just stop the podcast?
 
Don is doing great. I spoke to him days ago. However, I am not sure he even knows where these episodes are now. He is sitting on so many and I don't want to bother him. Those old UFO Tonight episodes WERE on a part of The Paracast, so they exist digitized...somewhere. I was hoping Gene might know. The hyperlink is no longer working, but perhaps those files are still stored online.

Just try sending Don an email asking for permission to copy and re-distribute them. He's probably got copies of his own. Go straight to the source. I'd be happy to help archive anything we can legally download and re-distribute.

I first really became interested in Lunar research in late 1991-early 1992 because of a guest I had on in the very early days of my radio show, UFOs Tonite. I began the radio thing with a legendary TV/Radio guy in Los Angeles, Jim Hawthorne, sometime in Sept. of 1991. Hawthorne went back to the early days of TV in LA (early 1950’s) and at the time (1991) he was retired but liked doing radio, liked UFOs and got us a spot at KIEV-Glendale. Within a couple of months we had a huge weekly audience listening to our “The UFO Show.” We weren’t making any money at it but it was fun and I got some really big guests on. In early January of “92” Hawthorne decided he had enough and suddenly quit. I tried to get the station interested in continuing the “UFO” show but they weren’t interested. However, one of the guys that worked at KIEV also was an exec at CRN, which was a national broadcast center going out over cable TV nationwide. They asked me if I were interested in continuing with them and I said yes. UFOs Tonite was launched.

We ran until July 1996 and I had a huge following all across the US. As a matter of fact (and this is if you are ever asked the question in a Trivia contest) my wife Vicki and I were married on my show in December 1993! Names from Hollywood, all across the paranormal and of course UFO research were all interviewed on my show. I interviewed former Asst. Secretaries of Defense, Congressmen, Hollywood Directors and Producers (for example one was Bob Wise, who directed the original “The Day the Earth Stood Still”, “The Andromeda Strain” and “Star Trek-The Movie”.) I had shows where the person being interviewed hung up on me … Phil Klass. Hell, I even had Howard Stern fans call me up … Ba Ba Boo-ey. (As an aside, Stern mentioned me during one broadcast, we both had been on “A Current Affair” during the same broadcast … if I recall. At any rate I got hooked on the Moon stuff during all this.

Someone told me to find a copy of “Somebody Else Is On The Moon” by George Leonard and I mentioned this on the air. A lunar researcher named Jim Sylvan called me at UFO Magazine then sent me some photos he got from NASA that Leonard mentioned. Now I was really hooked and I started digging quietly.

I first heard about Vito roughly a year prior to him coming on my show from some people in Houston. (I had a lot of fans and listeners there) He had shown up at some local MUFON meeting and told them the incredible story you are about to hear. I finally got in touch with him and invited him to come on UFOs Tonite to tell his story. About a year or so later I was to discover one of the most amazing lunar photos you could hope to see (from a NASA un-manned lunar probe in 1966) that I’ve pretty much kept under wraps since then. It was this interview with Vito and my NASA photograph that launched this Moon Special that I have been working on with Bob Kiviat.

Vito is a Petro-Chemical engineer and at the time (1979) was asked to shepherd around another guy with a different company that Vito’s company worked with. This other guy got up to Houston from his company in Venezuela and after he and Vito got acquainted asked Vito if he had ever heard of George Leonard? This began a 3 week odyssey with these two guys and NASA in order to see “our public Moon photos.”

This show is in two parts marked below. After you hear Hour 01, click on Hour 02. I will be interested in hearing any comments and remarks you all have.

Remember, this was UFOs Tonite, not Dark Matters Radio.

Thanks, Randell. I’m actually looking for even older episodes. The list of files The Paracast used to host included many shows from the late 1980s, when Don was doing his cable radio program, UFOs Tonight. I specifically remember an interview he did with Bill Moore that was hosted on the site at one point. Even the broadcast where Don married his wife Vikki, IN STUDIO, was an episode of UFO's Tonight, which existed on this site.


I could certainly ask Don directly, but I’ve spoken with him many times about his archives, and they’re spread across his office and garage. Digging through them would be a real chore, and I’d rather not put that burden on him. I was hoping Gene might have an archived copy of the site or an older file list stored somewhere. This RAW LIST (as it was titled) definitely existed around 2011 to 2013.
 
Ok, I am getting somewhere. I was able to open one of the files linked above in a new window...


However, I wanted the Bill Moore episode, so I typed in,
And was able to find the file by adding, BillMoore.mp3 to the end of the hyperlink name

The archive I am looking for must be on "https://www.theparacast.com/darkmatters" But I don't have permission to see that....can someone more savy than me send me a link to the root directory so I can access the archived files. It seems like they are all still there! I just don't remember enough of the episodes by name to manually type them in, I got lucky with BillMoore.mp3

Any luck finding the old episodes or an archive that might go back to 2013 and earlier? I'm also looking for some specific older roundtables and can't find any location online that is holding the old Dark Matters Radio episodes.

I don’t think I explained this clearly before, so let me try again.


The episodes I am looking for are already hosted on The Paracast website. The links are no longer public, but the files still exist on their server.


Back around 2011, The Paracast had a section called “The RAW List.” It featured podcasts from other hosts, including Don Ecker’s early 1990s radio show, UFOs Tonight. One of the episodes I clearly remember featured Bill Moore, which is how I know these files are still there.


All of these audio files live in this directory:


https://www.theparacast.com/darkmatters/


That link itself is now broken, but the files are still accessible if you know the exact filename.


For example, if you add a guest’s name to the URL like this:


/VitoSaccheri0.mp3


You can still hear the old episode with Vito Saccheri.


Using that same logic, I tried:


/BillMoore.mp3


and found the Bill Moore episode.



The problem is that I don’t know the exact filenames for the rest of the shows. I’m not trying to scrape the site—I just need a way to see the directory listing or sitemap for that folder so I can find all of the archived files that still exist.


I have most Dark Matters Episodes from 2012 - to the present, so I am not after those. Moreover, I have asked Don about these, and he told me they are scattered about his garage, etc, so it would be a task for him to find them. I don't need Don to find them, because they exist on this site.
