Past Life Regression

I had one of these done today. Was the vision an accurate representation of a life that I once lived? I don't know. I think that it all took place just in my imagination and not in reality. But it was a fascinating experience. I will share some of the details.

Evidently, I lived sometime around 731 AD in Mesopotamia. I was a man. I hunted and fought battles for a living. I had two children, a boy and a girl. My proudest moment was watching my son jump off of his horse and onto a cheetah-like beast, break its neck, and then field dress it. He cut out the animal's heart and presented it to me as a gift. This made me very proud because my son was such a fearless bad-ass. My most significant relationship? My daughter, a beautiful young lady with jewelry in her hair and suchlike. I almost died in a battle once when shot in the neck with a projectile weapon. Somehow, I survived because a fellow tribesman killed my attacker and carried me away on his shoulder. The most significant decision I made was jumping off of an extremely high cliff to kill myself. I then flaoted away from my body and was taken to meet two light beings who were more or less happy with me, but they said that I cared too much for other people at the expense of my own mental and physical well-being; I needed to learn more about balancing my cares for others with self-love.

If this sounds all very hard to believe, I agree. I don't believe the experience was at all real. But I would recommend it due to the entertainment factor. I was dissapointed that the hypnotist did not ask me about my least proud moment or biggest regret. That would have been interesting. Instead, he chose to focus on happier things.

Any of y'all done this before?

Yes, but I'm thinking that the hypnotist wasn't nearly as skilled at walking me through it as yours was. I never got the kind of detail.

I was a very old woman in the 1640s in Peru. I lived on a mountain top in something that resembled an igloo which is what made me doubt the whole experience. The dwelling was white and had a long entrance sort of like a cartoonish igloo, but there was a hole in the roof that could be covered. There was a fire pit in the center and utensils and tools hung on the round inner wall. (I've never seen anything like it so maybe I was in another universe? LOL)

I had one son and a husband though both of them were dead. I don't know why because the hypnotist didn't take me that far. There were actually a lot of people in the room in regression.

All I remember was the loneliness I felt in that lifetime. I didn't live in a communal setting as I would have expected either. Whole thing was strange.

Wow, I find those both fascinating. I think there is a ton of evidence suggesting reincarnation is a definite possibility. If I could find someone credible to do the regression I would love to have it done. Is there any organization that can point you in the direction of such a person? How did you find the person Chuckleberry and what made you want to do this? I think we've all had dreams and visions of ourselves as different folks, in different lives. Now that's not evidence but still- would love to undergo a regression session. Kind of sucks you only came up with the one life Huckleberry. I'd want to get some names, dates, etc. Some specifics.

Thanks for bringing this topic up, Chuckleberry. How does one track down a reputable person with whom to do a past life regression? I'd be interested in having this done, but don't want to end up with someone who runs their operation out of a mall kiosk.

I have read this book Many Lives, Many Masters. Great book for anyone interested in the topic.

That Weiss book you just mentioned, Tommyball, is what got me interested. I don't know how to track down a good hypnotist. I'm presently in Lake Tahoe visiting some relatives for Christmas, and my aunt is heavily involved in a variety of "new-age" topics. She has a friend who has a PhD in some form of clinical psychology. He's a shrink, basically, and knows how to do hypnosis. We did it in my aunt's house here in Tahoe. I will ask her friend the next time I see him how to find a reputable hypnotist.

In my city we have "Leisure Learning" Classes available. Guess one would have to be in a city to find something similar. Hypnotists offer regression sessions and other people offer all kinds of interesting classes, many having nothing to do with the paranormal. My sister and I attended through that.

A friend in my group found herself a nun pretty far back in history. Don't remember the time. My sister found herself King Harrod. LOL Another friend has been regressed twice. She announced each time, "I was a pirate that raped and pillaged!"

Not sure how much credence one should give the sessions, but they seem very, very real at the time. It's not a popular thought, but I've wondered if one can't simply pick up energetic information of another's life in that altered state.

One of my friends is a clinical psychologist. I'm going to ask him how to go about finding someone in our area who does past-life regressions when he returns from his holiday trip.

I was taught that we bring bits of knowledge from our previous lives into our current one, as well as physical oddities, such as scars and joint problems. I'd like to undergo regression to see if this is possibly true.

Hi there.

Unfortunately, Past Life Regression has the same problems as Recovered Memory Syndrome. The basic gist is that the memories revealed in the session are not real memories of real events, but are false memories created by the hypnotist. Most of the time the hypnotist is unaware that these memories are being created during the session.

You can read about the evidence here:

Thank you, sir, for that marvelous display of knowledge. How kind of you to save us poor, gullible fools from our imaginations and from our silly ignorance.

Perhaps you didn't notice that nearly everyone who has posted on this thread has expressed due skepticism. In fact, when I recommended past life regression, I did so on the condition that it was for entertainment.

Yes, I know that there are some problems with regression hypnosis. See my original post. However, hypnosis has been shown on multiple occasions to be a reliable way to retrieve memories, so long as a competent hypnotist, such as Brian Weiss, performs the procedure. If you had read the book Tommyball mentioned," Many Lives, Many Masters," instead of signing on here merely to dazzle us with your amazing skeptical super-powers, you would know that there may be some mystery to this phenomenon. He doesn't lead his subjects. On the contrary, he lets them lead themselves.

Even police officers often use hypnosis. Oftentimes someone can recall a license plate number, say, under hypnosis.

It's not a perfect tool, but it can be reliable.

What's laughable to me is how you butt in, speaking in a very informed tone of superiority, telling us what's reliable and what isn't, and then you cite wildly unreliable sources -- wikipedia entries and blind bogus nonsense from skeptic.com.

Michael Shermer of Skeptic.com, his cheerleader Richard Dawkins: perhaps you should be more skeptical of the self-appointed high priestesses of skepticism.

Welp, lots of people need a way of talking themselves out of exploration. Easier to decide a thing is totally false than to enter with real skepticism rather than debunkery. My gosh, it might provide someone with real questions, eh?

No! The world is safe, black and white. End of story. Go back to your gods and be good little children.

Sorry, derekcbart, but it's so silly to assume the obvious because it never kept anyone safe. It just kept them controlled. I'd rather explore and know nothing for certain than to be so certain there is nothing to explore.

I was hypnotized two times back in 1986. I was living in Denver at the time and a friend of mine had just joined Scientology ( I know don't groan). I was having a really hard time being away from home and was severely depressed. What was cool is that they knew I didn't have any money but knew I was hurting and they helped me anyways. Anyways, during the session I was sitting in this plastic chair for a few hours and started to become frigidity. When I was younger I sprained my neck playing football in high school. If I sat in one place to long the muscles in my back and neck would start to cramp. It was very painful. The person doing my session noticed this and asked me why I was so uncomfortable, I told him why and he proceeded to take me back to that time until right after the accident on the field. The pain was unbelievable. I don't know what he said, It was a long time ago but I haven't had any problems since that session. The pain immediately disappeared.
He also took me back to a time when I was very little when I lost my thumbnail on a swing set, again lots of pain, I even started crying. The dude felt real bad afterwards. but the coolest thing was he took me back to when I was in the womb. Unbelievable. There are no words to describe that sensation, The absolute peace that I felt. Those memories stay with you your whole life.

reincarnation is a fascinating subject that seems to have some truth or non goofyness behind it (there are countless amazing stories about this subject when you google it)

in the mainstream west i think its hinduism that brought this into the public awareness back in the day so lets see what they talk about

According to Hinduism, the soul (atman) is immortal, while the body is subject to birth and death. The Bhagavad Gita states that:

Worn-out garments are shed by the body; Worn-out bodies are shed by the dweller within the body. New bodies are donned by the dweller, like garments.
