Mark Olly is an internationally recognized author, TV producer/presenter, writer, lecturer, broadcaster, musician and artist. For over 22 years he worked as a professional DJ, musician, and in music management founding Angelharp Music, Unicorn Entertainments Agency Ltd. and Legendthink Ltd. (one of the first 'multi-media' promotions companies in the world), before moving on to pursue a solo career as writer, archaeologist and television presenter. This career has so far taken him to all parts of the UK, France, Egypt, Norway, Italy, Bulgaria, Cyprus, and the Yucatan Peninsular Mexico in search of the ancient and the mysterious.
His hobbies include collecting antiques and geological specimens, Dark Age Celtic, Medieval and 18th Century costumed re-enactment, staging occasional exhibitions, presentations and public speaking, and investigating ancient sites.
He has several books in print; his latest is: "The Polychronicon of Merlin, Joseph & Arthur." This book is real history and archaeology, not just the invention of creative minds, and it reveals incidents and characters as they really were, listed in chronological order, leaving the impression that Britain has always been a very different place to the one painted by popular history. Merlin becomes one of an ancient line of Pythagorean scholars and political visionaries, Joseph of Arimathea a religious dissident fleeing persecution and death to far off foreign shores, Arthur a hardened womanizing battle leader who loses his entire family and culture to war and eventually natural disaster.
Olly has appeared on Carlton Television's "The History Detectives," wrote and presented three seasons of ITV Granada's award nominated "Lost Treasures" adventure archaeology series, is a regular presenter on Sky History Channel. He is a Visiting Lecturer at Wilsmlow Guild and theUniversity Of Chester, heads up his own archaeological unit, and runs a DVD production and props company MythCo.
