One of the most amazing ufological cases in the 1970s was the close encounter suffered by Carlos Antonio De los Santos Montiel, a young Mexican pilot flying a Cessna airplane, who encountered three UFOs that literally took possession of his craft for several minutes

The case took a lot of notoriety because not only there was an audio recording of the conversation between the distressed pilot and the control tower, but also the control radar picked up the returns of the UFOs after they finally "detached" themselves from the Cessna and fled (taking a course to the Popocatepetl volcano, according to the pilot). On top of that, the airplane itself showed that something hit if from the underneath, something that could only have occurred in mid air!

UFO researcher and TV presenter Pedro Ferriz Santacruz (the father of Mexican Ufology) investigated the case and invited Carlos to tell his story on his program "Un Mundo Nos Vigila" (a world is watching us). Ferriz was a good friend of Dr. Allen Hynek, and invited him to interview Carlos.

Anyway, the reason I bring this fascinating story up, is because according to Carlos, he was threatened twice by MIBs that warned him to stop telling his story. To my knowledge this may be the only time this happened in Mexico. Carlos described the MIB as "very pale", and showed him what appeared to be US government credentials. And they succeeded, too. After the second threat, Carlos stopped talking, and many years would pass until he began to appear in public to discuss the case once again —he has always sticked to his original account.

The case is mentioned in Richard Dolan's "UFOs and the National Security State part II". The first time i read about the case, though, was in the book "Los OVNI y la Arquelogía de México" (UFOs and Mexican Archeology) co-written by Pedro Ferriz and Christian Siruguet.
