Mr. Creepo, indeed, came across as a bit of a creep. Now, I could take him being a comedic foil, but not much else...he'd be good on a kitschy TIKI style show...he'd be a great villain on TIKI BAR TV.

Fun show. A lot of fun.

The only thing that annoyed me was the was Vaeni used the term "Experiencer" almost like it was some sort of elitist badge. I dunno, it was a bit off-putting to me. Maybe I'm still having a hard time getting past Vaeni's recent trance dancing videos...maybe I'm the schmuck, who knows? Maybe I'll have a drink with him one day and decide he's a total mensch.

Again, I thought this was a really fun show. Great vibe and good spirited.

Thank god you started a new thread about the Nov 2nd show. The other one got completely derailed and my show comments swallowed up by it!

So I'm re-posting my show comments here:

Hey great show, guys!

You all brought up some REALLY good points about WHY maybe disclosure can't/doesn't happen!

Loved the part about how MAYBE the government doesn't even KNOW how what they may have, WORKS, ya know?
And of course, they wouldn't want to disclose anything to the world until they UNDERSTOOD it all.

This opens up a whole new set of questions, too. I could go on and on talking about stuff like this!!
Also agree with how difficult it can be to separate the wheat from the chaff in terms of serious people with serious stories,
not just those who want to flaunt themselves, lie, etc just to get their fifteen minutes of fame. This can go both ways, too. It can be hard to find a good show for one to want to share their story on.

Glad The Paracast is one of those shows that gives us interesting information!

I hope you do more shows like this one!

Vaeni used the term "Experiencer" almost like it was some sort of elitist badge. I dunno, it was a bit off-putting to me. Oh get over the fucking "trance dancing" already! Yeah it's okay for me to describe it but to show it...well that's just outlandish!

As for "experiencer" I don't remember what I said where it sounded like I'm wearing it as a badge, except to that Meierite. That wasn't wearing it as a badge so much as it was telling him, "Look, this is what informs my interest. I'm not a disinformation agent and I'm not close-minded." I just didn't want to give him wiggle room.

I really didn't like Beckley either. I would have to listen to the show again because my boyfriend always likes to talk during shows but it sounded like Beckley was suggesting to sell out, like everyone else to get an audience. He sounded like a fake!

I still liked the episode but it would have been a lot better if there were four Genuine people discussing why the Culture of Contact fesitval didn't draw a crowd. I know you won't but don't drop your standards Jeremy to draw people in.

It would have been worth the the price to fly out to Jersey and see David's presentation and watch Rob Simone turn white.

David after talking to Bassett do you think he will present the X conference in a different light or just continue as usual?

Ally - No fears about selling out. Yeah, if I have to find hot models to hand out fliers on the street or disguise it in some other form to attract a crowd, I don't see the point in continuing.

Trick horny male passersby into coming to our UFO festival. Yeah: There's my demographic!

Beckley was kind enough to offer to help me promote this about a week before it opened and I'm thankful for that. But essentially, he ended up trashing the other leg of the legwork, Melissa Reed, on some local TV show and to all of their mutual friends, because when he tried to coordinate getting fliers from her she had no idea who he was. They have two different versions of what came next but suffice it to say that instead of promoting the event, Beckley wound up insulting Melissa every chance he got and (from what I hear, though I didn't see the show) speaking about the Culture of Contact as though he were the driving force behind it.

In spite of that he was friendly enough in person.

Thanks, but for my money, this was our single worst episode ever. My hatred of Beckley is now total and absolute.

dB
Agreed. Love the show, but there's been about two episodes that I simply couldn't listen to more than 15 minutes of, and this is one.

Granted I have the attention span of a caffeinated ferret but if I can't get the point of an episode in 15 minutes you've lost me.

Meh, I listened to the whole thing, and I didn't think Beckley seemed like a jerk. He seems like a publisher that is interested in UFOs. I think first and foremost he is a publisher though, and yeah, he can muddy the water if he publishes crap, but that is his right. I have never meant the man, but just by the show alone, he didn't seem pricky.

Everyone doesn't have to be super serious about this topic. DB, you seem to be pissed when people view this as entertainment, but if no one found the Paracast entertaining, you wouldn't have a show. BTW, Jeremy is hardly super serious, but very entertaining.

Does this stuff entertain me? Yes. Do I want to get to the bottom of it? Absolutely! Do I know when someone is full of shit? Yup, and I simply don't subscribe to their stuff.

In closing, I think the more popular radio shows do have their place. They spike interest. I started off listening to the lighter stuff (mostly BS), but it spiked my interest, and now I listen to the Paracast for its tough interviews, and compelling topics.

Sorry I am all over the place here, I am tired from a GREAT election night!

Hey did anyone else notice that I got mentioned on this weeks Paracast ?? :D

Anyhooo ... wasn't a classic episode, Beckley doesn't really fit in well with the Biednys, Steinbergs and Vaenis of this world (hey ... Vaenis ... what a great name for an alien world :p). Still he didn't come over as greatly creepy in my mind ... but then again my mind is a twisting labyrinth of cyclopean proportions and I generally get lost in their fairly frequently ... so what do I know??

Still I got mentioned ... even though it wasn't intentional, and you've got to grab onto the positive when you can :D. Oh bugger ... I've just remembered Bill Birnes is on next week ... deep joy :D

Alright. Fine, then we'll just have a drink together one day and call it cool. You're either a toal whack-job or a very funny and interesting guy. I'll go with the latter and call it good. ;)
