Memetics _ Why hack computers when you can hack brains?

"Memetics is code that programs humans."

Perhaps so...and also human beings may be domesticated by the result of wheat DNA (A concept expressed here: Amazon.com: Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind (9780062316097): Yuval Noah Harari: Books)

Or nanomachines use bodies (and brains) to continue their own "existence"...whence comes the "artificiality" when such a term can be applied to any stage of replication moving from a "lower" to "higher" stage...

So sure. Why not? But don't be surprised by the movement from carbon based replicators to silicon...or any other "physical matrix" which can encode information .

Think about it this way...any semiconductor foundry (a place where chips are actually made) requires a minimal amount of human interaction with machines (i.e computers) that control the processes, automation, design, etc...if I took all of the computers away from TI or Samsung...they would cease to have the ability to create more microcontrollers, chips, etc...and it would take another 100 years or so to bootstrap their tech back to the point we are at now.
