I understand he is (was?) a scientist, but I'm not convinced. Both Bushman and Sereda trigger my crank alert. (Or maybe it's Christopher O'Brien's trickster?)

I don't know why, but he also makes me think of this H.P. Lovecraft short novel: Nyarlathotep
