Lightning filmed at super slow speed

Free episodes:

Unbeleivable detail! This shows how branches from what "seems" like a single bolt in real time can kill people hundreds of feet away. I am just mesmerized by and can't stop watching it.

I had to post again.
If you use the pause and pause-go-pause-go really fast for the first 5 seconds, you can see details and events too quick to be picked up at playing speed.
First is the initial sky explosion that seems to literally shoot balls of lightning at the ground. They loop and swirl until;
BAM, one makes contact with the earth and there is a reverse explosion back up into the cloud following the trail left by one of the branches.

Try the go-pause-go-pause (very quickly).....there's so much more to see.

Cool video. Wish they would have slowed it down more in the beginning.

Step or stepped leaders trying to find a path to ground. Some can be visible or barely visible. Notice once one of those had hit the path to ground the main/big stroke followed. People and objects can have these step leaders coming off of them, trying to complete the circuit.

There is good evidence to suggest that you don't have to be directly stuck by lightning to die. Being in near proximity in the area of a strike and its electrical field can be enough to short-circuit the rhythm of the heart.

Lightning can and does strike out of a clear sky from a storm miles away. If you notice or are told that your hair is standing on end (no, not bed hair), drop as low as possible with minimal body contact with the ground and hope for the best. Avoid lightning and have a healthy respect for it to stay healthy.
