I don't get the options in the poll.

The LHC is being used to test and hopefully find theoretical particles to help unify the Standard Model of physics as we know it. I don't know how it would push our demise or help promote peace. It is just one step towards finding out more about our universe and the pieces that make it up. I'm more apt to say they may not find what they seek (much ado about nothing), as physics has been at a stand still for many years with no major revelations. But it would be quite a breakthrough for them to find the Higgs particle and move on to even tougher questions in this realm of the mysterious physical world.

If anything REALLY significant happens the public will not be informed about if.

Like what Ally?

If they discovered the Higgs particle, I'm thinking NOBODY other than physicists and those interested in it would even be remotely interested. It is because of this organization (CERN) that the internet even exists. I think we will be plenty informed of what is going on, we just probably will have an unbelievably difficult time grasping what the hell they are talking about. The ramifications and meaning of positive identification of basic theoretical particles of our entire universe is deeply profound to the understanding, or at least another step to understanding, of our place in this vast embodiment of space-time.

There are all kind of crazy theories. The most prominent is that once turned on it will generate a small black hole that will eventually devour our planet. Other stuff to, like stranglets and the ripping of space-time.

There was actually a lawsuit filed in Hawaii to stop it from being turned on. Here are a few articles.

I do not understand the physics enough to have commented on this. Sorry if I sounded so sure of myself and or full of it.

It was more or less a general statement and a beleif that public is not informed about some very significant realities about the world we live in. That is assuming that some covert group living among us does.

If I undertand this correctly this has to do with understanding and proving of wormholes on a particle level.

EDIT
From my own personal experiences with time anomalies I want to understand space-time conceptually. I think in some cases consciousness is involved.
