If they discovered the Higgs particle, I'm thinking NOBODY other than physicists and those interested in it would even be remotely interested. It is because of this organization (CERN) that the internet even exists. I think we will be plenty informed of what is going on, we just probably will have an unbelievably difficult time grasping what the hell they are talking about. The ramifications and meaning of positive identification of basic theoretical particles of our entire universe is deeply profound to the understanding, or at least another step to understanding, of our place in this vast embodiment of space-time.
