Not that there's anything wrong with that? Does he sound or look overtly gay? I haven't really seen him on tv much.

I was disappointed. I was hoping it was a paranormal closet, like the thread below this one.

The only thing that strikes me as odd about this event, is he's waited until the age of 70 to come out. It's not exactly a surprise, though, as such rumours have been circling about Randi for quite some time.

This is not a "suprise" to anybody. One of his little minions called him "courageous" Hardly! Not at 70. Now a 25 year old still living among the folks he/she grew up with might be "courageous" although in this day and age of political correctness I would even question that. Now, b4 I get "bopped" let me hurry and add I think people are born with their sexual preference. I do not think gays are any more perverted in general than so called "straight" people. So, no I'm not homophobic. Still, I would like to play "amauter therapist" for a minute. Maybe, (I mean he has really had a mad on.) his sexual preference which he didn't trumpet for a long time is one reason "he" is so angry with religion. Instead of being able to concesive of a all loving or all accepting ground of all being. A God/Goddess/Universe or just consciencess he can't get past the "judgemental" angry diety of he childhood. So, he decides that anything paranormal be it a god in the sky or a soul of mankind or even a paralell state of being is evil and a fairy tale. So, his rant and his rage takes on the form of an "angry" atheist. (Not all atheist are angry. Not all Christians are idiots.) Still, he makes a lifetime of rage and guilt an agenda to "strike" at the forces that make him feel so inadequate as a person.

O.k. I'll stop now. Please understand that the "above" was not a serious attempt to define another complex human being who I have never met before. It was a semi lighthearted stab at a possible reason for some of the venom of Jimmy R. over the years. May be some truth in it and there may be no truth in it. I don't really care. I'm just getting ready to go to work and I'm at my desk a half hour early this AM. Peace!
